Councillor calls for action to save Hilden Mill

00:00This month I am bringing a motion to our council regarding the site behind me here at Hildon Mill.

00:05It's been closed for nearly 20 years and since then sadly suffered nothing but neglect, arson attacks and a total lack of responsibility.

00:14That's what my motion is aimed at addressing. Bringing on board the council, developers and indeed the Northern Ireland Executive

00:21to work together to ensure that the historic significance and the community is looked after going forward.

00:29This site and our history is far far too important to just let rot and disappear.

00:34I want to see urgent action whether it be through supporting private development and restoration or public takeover

00:41so that we can celebrate our history and our future together.
