00:00Honestly, for me, I have loved how listening to an audiobook on Audible kind of gives you
00:14the experience of comfort because I know how the story is going to end.
00:18Because mostly I've read the story first.
00:21But at the same time, it's a whole new view because it's extremely immersive.
00:25It's like watching your favourite film but with a new filter, with a new cast, with a
00:33new whole thing.
00:34So it's like a nice twist on things.
00:36I've enjoyed audiobooks a lot.
00:38So when I was writing Too Good To Be True, even before I finished writing, I knew it
00:41had to be an audiobook.
00:47I don't think we get a choice in it.
00:50As people, I don't think you can ever sit down and choose how you want your relationship
00:54or your form of love to be.
00:56We all are so different.
00:59And every time there's any kind of difference that comes there, there is bound to be chaos.
01:04There is bound to be a little bit of imperfection that comes through.
01:08So I don't think you can ever sit and choose how you would want your relationship to be,
01:12which is why escapism is a thing.
01:15And you go and you listen to your favourite romance novels on audiobooks.
01:19So you know that they are perfect.
01:26It's not realistic at all.
01:28It's extremely, it's every romance book ever.
01:35There is a huge amount of aspiration that has come from my side into the story.
01:41Because that's what I miss about romance.
01:43That's what I enjoy about romance the most.
01:45That I know certain things don't add up, but I want to believe in it because of the aspiration
01:49of it.
01:50When I finish listening to a book, I want to go back slightly delusional about the ideas
01:55of life because the whims, the whimsical side of things is what gives romance fun for me.
02:02So nothing is real, actually, it's all made up and a lot of it is, I mean, I was very
02:08happy to hear about how much the viewers related to a lot of characters.
02:13But when it comes to the romance bit of it, it's a little extra.
02:18I mean, honestly, if you read something and you don't know that it's not real life, I
02:29don't think a book is something you, a romance book is something you should read because
02:36as a romance fan, we thrive on our fictional men, we are obsessed with them.
02:42And like I said, I enjoy the escapism of it the most.
02:46But having said that, I know when I go into it, I know how much of it is real and how
02:51much it is not.
02:53So also, unrealistic expectations is what?
02:57Because in our romance books, we get flat on like men flexing arms and forearm veins
03:06and like opening.
03:08It's a bare minimum.
03:09So it's not that unrealistic, it's something that should be expected.
03:16No, the readers can decide for everyone else, but I am Avani.
03:24When the movie is made.
03:26That we'll see.
03:27I haven't decided that yet.
03:31No, but I had that when I was writing it.
03:37When I started recording it, I actually had a ready script, like a bound final edit.
03:43So there was, I had disconnected with it by then, but I was like, now I can't keep
03:47working on this.
03:48And I was ready to take it forward in the audio book.
03:52Having said that, while we were recording it, I realized that a lot of things are funner
03:56to read and sound a little cringy when they're spoken.
03:59So then we had to make a little change here and there to just make that more palatable.
04:04But other than that, no, I had a great time recording this.
04:12I don't think it was a conscious choice.
04:14It was the easier choice though.
04:17It's my first book.
04:18I don't have any experience in writing so much, ever.
04:22And then having the guts to even publish it.
04:24So everywhere that I have made choices, I've made the easiest ones when it came to my characters,
04:30when it came to my stories, when it came to developing things, when it came to leaning
04:34on humor, when it came to explaining things and even to the climax.
04:39I wanted to keep it simpler because that was the only way I knew how to.
04:45And it was very important for me to write this book and publish it for me to know how
04:48I can get better at maybe telling the next climax in a way that is liked more.
05:01He is too good to be true.
05:02He is why the title happens to be that.
05:04My idea with the book was that what would happen if I would ever run into one of the
05:10characters, one of the people who are exactly like the characters in my romance novels,
05:16like male main characters who are too perfect, who can't do anything wrong.
05:20And somehow everything they do or say is justified in my mind.
05:23How would I react to someone like this?
05:26This was the seed of thought when it came to the book.
05:29And that's literally what it is.
05:31So he is perfect.
05:32He is too perfect.
05:34And he had to be that because otherwise there was no reason for Avani to not believe him.
