00:39Stranger to Austin, I'm sure you've been I made a couple of records out here. Oh, really? Okay. Yeah, man

00:44I used to camp out here in Austin. I love it

00:46Have you noticed a distinct difference in the city like at the times you visited especially like now the most recent well, it's gotten

00:53Massive yeah, I mean it was you know, obviously over 25 years

00:57I've seen the change but you know like B cave road used to be out in the sticks true and now it's like

01:02There's a whole mall. Yeah, it's a whole thing

01:06You know, but I mean

01:11Foundationally, it's still the same. I feel like yeah, you feel like it still has the same energy

01:16I saw somebody riding a unicycle earlier

01:26So I'm assuming you have plenty of musician friends in this town then right

01:30You know the what my guitar my guitar player Larry lives out in Dripping Springs, you know

01:36Yeah, I don't you know, it's been a minute. I have I

01:41Sure, I know a lot of people that live here that I didn't know live here right now, you know

01:46Yeah, I I've had to make it the choice if I hadn't moved back home. I was gonna live here. Really?

01:52Yeah, but then I had kids and you don't leave the city where you have grandparents, right?

01:58Want to talk about today's performance, of course you closed with IV which I'll be which is of course your iconic anthem

02:03Yeah, the reason I'm sitting here. We love it. We still love it to this day

02:07Is there a particular time you've heard this song that you remember and you're like, oh, yeah

02:12That's that's kind of like memorable to me either in like a TV show movie or just like strip club

02:17Really you walked in and there's somebody I was playing on the strip club

02:21PA and I was like man, and I am I am here I have arrived

02:26Cuz it's not really a strip club song and I was like

02:32Were there lap dances happening I assume I've been blamed for a lot of pregnancies because of the song so

02:46That's on the new album, I blame Lee Bryce, okay

02:50You want to call out Lee by now? No, he produced it really and he and Jared Neiman and

02:56And Lee was after me for the last decade to do a record and I was like man

03:01Nobody wants to hear anything new from me, you know, I've got ten albums

03:04I go out and play the songs people like and right, you know, it's the first rule of show business

03:09Just give them what they want. And you know, I would joke with my audiences. I'd go out there and go cake tonight

03:14I'm gonna play nothing but new songs and they go

03:18And so, I don't know Lee taught me into it and

03:22I'm really grateful to him because I have really enjoyed making this record and

03:28And and as a result, there's all these things that have kind of started happening around it

03:33I mean I was sort of in the mindset of sort of

03:37Semi retired and getting out of the way and you know, my mindset was like, you know

03:42It's time to get out of the way and let the new batch of kids take their space their place. Yeah, and

03:48And then the 90s nostalgia started kicking in and it's true. I was like, all right, maybe we can make another lap

03:54Yeah. All right. So here we are happy to have you making laughs glad you're making laps
