00:10the participation of more than 90,582 young people and educators who formed the Popular

00:15Literacy Army.

00:18Nicaraguan authorities also described the campaign as important, taking into account

00:23that in 1979 the right of inherited illiteracy was more than 50%, and with the literacy crusade

00:29it was reduced to 12.9%.

00:32On the other hand, the initiative of the Sandinista revolution, with the help of countries such

00:36as Cuba, taught more than 400,000 people to read and write.
