Israel launches retaliatory strikes on Lebanon amid ceasefire

00:00So, in particular, earlier this morning, at least five projectiles were fired from southern

00:08Lebanon into northern Israel.

00:12Two of those rockets actually landed in Lebanese territory, while three were about to land

00:19in Israeli territory before they were intercepted by Israel's defense systems.

00:24This was the first launch of rockets from Lebanon's side since the start of the truce

00:34three months ago.

00:36In particular, no entity has claimed the firing of those rockets.

00:44No official statement coming from Hezbollah claiming responsibility for those rockets

00:49fired.

00:50Preliminary investigation by the Lebanese Armed Forces, by the Lebanese army, has found

00:55a number of very not so sophisticated launchers, which were used to actually launch those projectiles

01:05in an area located in the northern part of southern Lebanon, not subject to UN Resolution

01:121701, with no presence of UNICEF peacekeeping forces in that area.

01:19Shortly afterwards, Israel has responded in a number of airstrikes, mostly targeting

01:25valleys and mountains, supposedly military locations used in the past or still currently

01:34used by Hezbollah, as well as targeting one house in southern Lebanon.

01:42As we're speaking, there are multiple airstrikes that are still ongoing in southern Lebanon,

01:47but so far no confirmation of any casualties, and most of those airstrikes are, as I mentioned,

01:56in the peripheries of the mountainous areas or valleys.

02:01So the Lebanese president also issued a statement mentioning that the Lebanese state is ready

02:10to confront any actors who are trying to destabilize Lebanon.

02:16So there was a clear statement that condemns the launch of those attacks against Israel

02:24from the Lebanese government and the Lebanese presidency.

02:28Yes, we've seen Israel retaliating in a number of airstrikes across different parts of southern

02:34Lebanon, but so far it's still a limited exchange of fire.
