00:00Danzig is one of the great legends at Claiborne Farm, and next year his grandson Silver State

00:07will stand at the same farm.

00:09We spoke with Walker Hancock on this year's winner of the Met Mile, who will stand for

00:13$20,000 in 2022.

00:18There's a lot to like about Silver State, obviously his win in the Grade 1 Met Mile

00:22solidified him as a serious dying prospect for us, but he'd been on our radar for quite

00:26a while.

00:27He was on the Triple Crown Trail, unfortunately had a little setback, so he didn't get to

00:32run really in the summer of his three-year-old year, but he came back at Churchill in the

00:37fall and reeled off six straight wins.

00:40That coated a couple of stakes at Oaklawn and then obviously culminated with the Grade

00:451 Met Mile at Belmont on Belmont Day.

00:50His win in the Oaklawn Handicap obviously got our attention before the Met Mile.

00:55We'd kind of been following the horse, thought he could be a potential stud prospect, but

01:01that was a really great race for him, set him up for the rest of the season, continued

01:07his winning streak, and then obviously he went to the Met Mile and defeated horse leader

01:12Nick Sko and proved that he's a serious contender.

01:16It is Silver State who has the lead.

01:18Mischievous Alex by my standards out in the middle of the track.

01:21They're coming down for the finish in the Hillandale Met Mile, and it is Silver State

01:26to make it six in a row.

01:28He's only off the board twice, so he's a model of consistency.

01:32He's a really good-looking horse.

01:34Everyone that has come to see him absolutely loves him.

01:36They can't get enough of him.

01:37We've even sold shares just because people have come to see him here in the past couple

01:41of weeks.

01:42Comments that we get is like, I didn't realize how big he is.

01:45He's a big horse, 16.3, really good-looking horse.

01:47He's dappled out right now.

01:48He looks great.

01:50He has this presence about him, and you just kind of know he's like a cool dude.

01:55He obviously has miler speed, which is what a lot of breeders are looking for.

02:00He's a great physical.

02:02He has a race record to back that up, and a great pedigree as well.

02:08He's Stone Street bred, and he's by Hardspun, who I think is a tremendously underrated sire.

02:14Narcos was the fastest derby winner, side secretariat.

02:18He's in the family.

02:20We have an Empire Maker mare.

02:21Empire Maker is obviously a great broodmare sire.

02:24He mixed really well with a lot of the mares here at the farm.

02:26It was one of the reasons that we really thought he could be a successful stallion here.

02:32He's carrying on his grandfather's legacy in Danzig, who's obviously one of the legends

02:35here at Claiborne.

02:37So it seemed like a natural fit for us, and thankfully, glad to partner with Ron Winchell.

02:43Look, they know how to make a great stallion, obviously Gunrunner's one of the hottest freshman

02:49sires we've seen in quite some time, so I know Ron has a great program, and they're

02:54going to support Silver State, and hopefully we'll have a successful career here.

02:58He's kind of a throwback horse, and someone mentioned that to me as well.

03:03He is kind of an old school horse, an old school farm, and he seems like a perfect fit.
