A special Mersey Ferry service is to be laid on for Everton's second test event which could become a regular match day feature.

00:00As preparations continue for the official opening of Everton's new stadium with a second test event,
00:07transport services across the Liverpool City region are being stepped up.
00:11Around 25,000 fans are expected at the under-21 friendly match on Sunday 23rd March.
00:17This is part of tests for the new stadium at Bramley Moor Dock ahead of its full opening later this year.
00:24After meeting with fan groups and representatives from Everton,
00:27transport chiefs have announced additional services are to be laid on
00:31across the region's rail, bus and ferry networks next weekend.
00:35Following the first test event last month, officials came in for criticism,
00:38particularly around capacity at Sandhill station and development of a fan management zone.
00:43Metro Mersey Rotherham said changes had been made based on fan feedback
00:47to deliver the best match day experience possible.
00:50To deal with the increased numbers of users passing through,
00:53Mersey Rail has confirmed it will amend its Sunday timetable accordingly.
00:57Services will run every 15 minutes on the Southport, Ormskirk and Hedbot lane lines,
01:02with eight car trains where possible.
01:04At Sandhill's Liverpool City centre stations, a crowd flow management system
01:08similar to ones used for other major events in the city region will be in place.
01:12A special service at 5pm from Gerry Marsden Ferry Terminal at Liverpool Pier Head to Seachem
01:17will be laid on for matchgoers who wish to use the ferry and walk to and from the stadium.
01:22If used frequently enough, this could be a new service to serve future match events at the new stadium.
01:27A number of bus services will operate near to Everton Stadium on the day of the game on a Sunday timetable.
01:33There will be three commercially operated shuttle bus services on match days,
01:37running from two hours before kick-off and then from the end of the test event,
01:41but not during the match.
