00:50Can you tell us why you felt

00:51that it was such an important time

00:52to mention antisemitism and hate and racism?

00:55Why did you want to highlight that

00:56in your speech tonight, specifically?

00:58Well, I think we all know that it's an important time

01:03to recognize that there's no place for intolerance,

01:08and as I had mentioned in my speech,

01:13I'm oddly receiving recognition

01:18for representing a time in history

01:21that we witness unchecked antisemitism

01:29and that hatred and oppression have no place in this world

01:35and that we must learn from the past.

01:46a bit about what you were asking before.

01:48Do you feel that the issues that you show in the film

01:52are something that people are forgetting?

01:54Is that another reason you feel that this film is important?

01:57And secondly, you seem to talk about your journey,

02:01your journey that maybe was a bit of a rollercoaster

02:04and almost like you maybe never thought

02:07you would get back to this point again.

02:09Can you talk about that as well?

02:10Or am I mistaken, maybe?

02:12No, you're not mistaken.

02:15It's been a long journey and a beautiful one

02:20and an artistic path.

02:23And as you try to navigate creative choices,

02:30there are many variables,

02:32and there are wonderfully,

02:34there's an enormous amount of talented individuals

02:37all vying for very few great opportunities,

02:41and that's the bottom line.

02:43And I have been working very hard for the past 22 years,

02:47but nothing quite connected on this level.

02:52And so I'm conscious of that,

02:55and I'm grateful that I had the good fortune

03:01of being selected by Brady and Mona

03:04to be a part of a very meaningful story,

03:09one that speaks to injustice,

03:16and not just along the lines of what we had discussed,

03:21but it's also quite relevant to consider

03:26the lives of others,

03:28the lives of people who have the hopes and dreams

03:34to be free of oppression

03:39and very difficult circumstances abroad.

03:43And my grandparents' struggles

03:51and their loss and their resilience

03:54have paved the way for my own good fortune,

03:58and I had an opportunity to honor them in this film.

04:03And the truths and the insight that I've gained

04:08to these hardships of so many people,

04:13of many different backgrounds and ethnicities,

04:21have made me aware of a need for us to be empathetic.
