00:00Dominic Szaboszlai has quickly become a key figure for Liverpool, bringing creativity
00:08and technical brilliance to the midfield. His dynamic playstyle has made a significant
00:13impact and as Liverpool look to the future, he could be central to their plans. I spoke
00:19with Will Rooney of Liverpool World about Szaboszlai's influence on the team and how
00:23the squad might be built around him in the coming years.
00:28Well, let's look at Dominic Szaboszlai. He's had a fantastic few months, especially under
00:36Arnish. He's really come into his own in terms of playing and making sure that they are making
00:41a real solid push for the Premier League title now especially. What do you feel has been
00:48key factors to his rise and his real dominance in that position this season? He's been fantastic
00:55in Liverpool's side and it's a real key relationship with Schlott and the player as well.
01:01Yeah, it's an interesting one, Szaboszlai, because when he started last season, he was
01:07really good. He got out of the traps quickly. He made a fantastic start and then he just
01:15dropped off his form, to be honest with you. It was disappointing because there was quite
01:20clearly a player there. Liverpool paid £60m for him. Early evidence suggests that there
01:26was a player there and he struggled for consistency. Now, maybe he was going on adrenaline in the
01:35first few months and then the struggles came. He struggled to adapt and then obviously Liverpool's
01:40disappointment ended the season. Maybe it just caught up with him as well, the lack
01:46of experience in the Premier League, but he's definitely got stronger as this season
01:51has gone on. In that number 10 role, he's always shown energy and abundance. He works
01:58so hard for the team, but in recent games, he started to add goals. A good goal against
02:05Manchester City was excellent throughout that game and then he obviously broke the deadlock
02:10against Newcastle in that 2-0 win and Arnas lost at the start of the season. That's what
02:16we challenge dominant spotlights to do, to add more goals and assists. Seven goals, six
02:21assists in 36 games isn't a bad return whatsoever, but can he get 10-10? I always think for forwards
02:30players that's a good return. He's not an out-and-out forward and his role in the team
02:35is a lot more than just scoring goals and creating them, but you've got to contribute
02:41at Liverpool as well. If you're playing in the number 10 position, it's a difference.
02:46It's not like he's a Dennis Bergkamp who's got a free role. Those days at the number
02:5110 position are well done, but you've got to contribute in the final fair and that's
02:56what you've been doing. If you can keep that up, they're qualities that you can't teach.
03:01Obviously, we've mentioned that there could be a decent bit of a reshuffle at Liverpool
03:06as well over the summer. Shabboslai is only 24, he's very high on the market value. Do
03:12you feel he could be a real stalemate in the future of Arnish? Lots of plans built around
03:18him and make sure he's one of the players who definitely stays and can maybe return
03:23the title next season?
03:25Absolutely, yes. Liverpool, besides him, from RB Leipzig, is a player who is still very
03:32much on the upper curve. To be fair to him, he has a lot of experience at Leipzig, but
03:37Liverpool typically sign players who are yet to peak and they can coach and mentor and
03:45make sure that they have their best years at Liverpool. That's what Shabboslai is. He's
03:52still got a little bit to learn, like a lot of players have, but the middle of the path
03:57there, Shabboslai is 24 and you've got McAllister, who's 26, Gravenberch is 22. It's a midfield
04:06for the future, definitely. You've got Curtis Jones in there, who's 24 himself, Harvey Elliott
04:11is still 22. No doubt, if he continues to do well, then he'll be looking and thinking,
04:19well, when am I going to earn a new deal? When am I going to be deserving of one? Because
04:23he will be if he carries on that way. There's Sattahl as well. He can play the 10, he can
04:30play as a false nine, he can play a wide if he needs him to. To earn 51 caps of Hungary
04:38already at this stage of his career is an incredible feat and he's only going to get better.
