00:00Now, Liverpool are heading into a crucial summer, not just in terms of new signings, but also in deciding the futures of key players.
00:10One of the big talking points surrounds Andy Robertson, whose importance to the club over the past few years cannot be overstated.
00:18Since joining the Reds, Robertson has been one of Liverpool's most consistent performers, a driving force down the left flank, a leader in the dressing room and a symbol of the club's identity under Jurgen Klopp.
00:30But with a new era beginning under Arnie Schlott, questions are starting to emerge about whether the Scotsman remains the long-term option at left back.
00:38Robertson still has plenty to offer, but Liverpool may begin planning for the future, not unlike their situation with other long-serving stars in recent years.
00:48I spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World about Robertson's role under Schlott and whether Liverpool might look to evolve that position this summer.
00:55While nothing has been decided, it's clear that the club faces a delicate balance, honouring what Robertson has brought to the team, while being bold enough to prepare for what's to come.
01:06And Will, let's just look at Andy Robertson.
01:10And before we go into his future, let's just have a look at his impact and him obviously coming in from Hull City.
01:16He was a signing, we've mentioned before, that I don't think many people really expected the heights that he could have gone to.
01:22An unbelievable career, only over 300 appearances for Liverpool through an incredible era under Jurgen Klopp as well, such a stalemate in that team.
01:31What do you sort of make of Andy Robertson's time at Liverpool and his impact and his growth as a player as well?
01:38He's been excellent. As you say, I don't think anyone expected him to have such an impact that he did.
01:44There were probably people when he signed from Hull who were relegated thinking, what are we signing him for?
01:48Because it was a problem position left back for a long time, Liverpool.
01:53They never really had anyone you trusted fully.
01:57There was Alberto Moreno there, there was Jose Enrique.
02:01Before that, players like, I don't know, John Arnaurita, was he a left back?
02:06Was he a left midfielder?
02:08Fabio Aurelio has injury problems.
02:10So you're going out the back a long time.
02:12Going in Liverpool, really, as a stable left back who you can rely on.
02:17And it took Robertson a little bit of time to settle in, like a lot of players did under Jurgen Klopp.
02:23But towards the second half of that first season, he was excellent.
02:26Obviously, he helped Liverpool get to the Champions League final.
02:30From there, he, without a doubt, was one of the best left backs in the world.
02:35You know, the buccaneering performances that he delivered week in, week out, high octane.
02:41I mean, it takes a lot in a year in Klopp system to do that, consistently delivering in the final fairs.
02:49There's one stage where him and Trent Alexander-Arnold were going back and forth for the amount of record assists from a defender in the Premier League.
02:59I think he was about £8 million, but that's got to be one of the best signings, pound for pounds, that Liverpool have made in this era.
03:11You know, they've made quite a few, haven't they?
03:14Your salaries, your manies, the age of Van Dijk, even £75 million.
03:18But Andy Robertson, for £8 million, was an absolute steal.
03:21He's been an excellent service, serving for Liverpool, about to win his Premier League title and he deserves it.
03:29But, sure, we'll get on to it.
03:30There are some questions I'm asked about, what next for him?
03:34Yeah, obviously, you know, a fair few outstanding left backs this season that Liverpool are going to be, have been linked with in terms of Andy Robertson's successor.
03:43Do you feel maybe it is time to look at other options and just maybe, as you say, you know, Schlott's going to have a summer window.
03:50He's always going to have a chance to make some rotations in this side.
03:53Andy Robertson, I'm sure, would be happy being a squad player still for Liverpool, as long as, you know, they are still high ambitions in terms of, you know, pushing for trophies.
04:05Yeah, I don't think he'd be quite happy being a squad player.
04:08I think he'd still want to be pushing himself to play, but maybe he accepts that he's 31 now and he can't play as much as he can.
04:17And look, I mean, looking at the season overall, he's recalled as one assist in all competitions, and that's very unlike Andy Robertson.
04:25Now, is that down to the way that he's been asked to play by Anna Schlott?
04:31Perhaps.
04:31Now, left back, really, he'll obviously leave the future of Costa Simicast somewhat up in the air if a new left back did come in.
04:39But, yeah, you can definitely see a fresh edition arriving in the summer.
04:43Now, let's go.
