00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, MACC, has remanded two individuals, including

00:07a former special officer to a Member of Parliament, for allegedly soliciting and receiving a RM500,000

00:14bribe to approve funds under Project Mesra Rakyat.

00:19According to an MACC source, the four-day remand order, effective from Thursday, was

00:24granted by the Putrajaya Magistrates' Court.

00:27The suspects, both in their thirties, were arrested around 9.30pm on Wednesday while

00:33providing statements at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

00:37Preliminary investigations suggest the men committed the offence in 2024 to facilitate

00:43the approval of RM1.5 million under Project Mesra Rakyat for supplying interactive smart

00:50boards to several schools in Kuala Lumpur.

00:53The MACC is also examining the procurement process to determine whether the schools

00:58received the correct number of items as specified.

01:01MACC Senior Director of Investigations Datuk Zainul Daruss confirmed the arrests, stating

01:08that the case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
