17 year-old Shane Bissoon upstaged his classmates to win the Presentation San Fernando 7K as he sets his sights on CARIFTA.

It was Bissoons first victory in the competition which has been ongoing for over 50 years.

00:00It was a strange start to the presentation San Fernando 7k as cars were made to wait before the gun went off
00:06A 6pm run off near mileage mark in San Fernando before the sun came up.
00:29Enthusiastic runners ready to release their energy on what was a hilly route.
00:33The race had an early leader Shane Bissoon he was being trailed by Kevon Mitchell and
00:38a small pack would follow ahead of a few hundred runners.
00:41Bissoon held his advantage until the return as he entered the savannah.
00:53He would go on to win the 7k in 25 minutes 6 seconds.
01:03Mitchell would seal second place in 27 minutes 2 seconds.
01:09Third would go to Tyrese Harding 29 minutes 2 seconds.
01:15Principal at the school Dexter Mitchell outlined the significance of the event.
01:19This is about the 60th year that Presentation College is hosting this event.
01:25Since 2010 we are hosting it here at Union Hall.
01:28Prior to that the route was around San Fernando.
01:32So the school is 76 years old but about 60 years this race has always been carnival Friday.
01:40And how do you feel about the competition today and how it went?
01:45Well we continue to see a lot of our athletes and even past students excel this year so
01:51I think that you know it continues to grow.
02:05Over 500 individuals took part in the event as they raised funds for athletes at the school.
