00:07suspend the license of the operator of Era FM following backlash over a video apparently
00:13mocking the Taipusam Cavali ritual.
00:16In a statement, MCMC said the licensee has been given 30 days to submit a response before
00:21any final decision is made.
00:24MCMC also said it would submit an investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor to
00:29be released tomorrow regarding a video mocking the Hindu religion which was uploaded to the
00:34Era FM radio station's TikTok account.
00:37It had also summoned ASTRO's top management yesterday following the controversy.
00:42The Commission said the investigation paper was opened under Section 233 of the Communications
00:48and Multimedia Act 1998 for the improper use of network facilities based on provisions
00:54from the amended Act.
00:56Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Razakuddin Hussein was reported by Benama as saying that
01:01police are finalizing their investigation into the video with the investigation paper
01:06to be submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers soon.
