00:00OWTU Central Executive Member Ernesto Kizar and former General Secretary of the Communication
00:09Workers' Union Clyde Elder will go up under the UNC flag, hoping to cop the two PNM-held
00:15seats of Point 14 and La Brea, respectively.
00:19So you have one set of people attacking the workers and you have another group supporting
00:24the workers' agenda to ensure that workers, which all of us are, ensure a better day in
00:30this country.
00:31This country is in deep crisis and we are about joining the rescue team of the UNC to
00:36rescue this country from the deep crisis that we are in right now.
00:41President-General of the OWTU Ansel Roger escorted the men, integral persons in the
00:46Coalition of Interest, forged by the UNC last Friday, to the party's headquarters on Wednesday.
00:53It was agreed that to participate in the elections, we are not just going to stand idly by or
01:00on the side and give support, we are actively going to get involved.
01:04And we were invited for two candidates, one for La Brea and one for Point 14, and that
01:10is what we are doing here this evening.
01:12If lines were drawn between the trade union movement and the UNC in the past, Roger says
01:18hindsight now shows TNT was a better place before Dr. Rowley's BNM regime.
01:25We want to remedy Trinidad and Tobago and the only party that can do that, let's not
01:30fool ourselves into believing that some third party or some fraction party or some party
01:36that just came out of the woodworks, that they can do it.
01:39No, no, no.
01:40We respect the fact that the United National Congress is the official opposition and they
01:45now hold 19 seats.
01:48We intend to build on that to ensure that they get enough seats to get into parliament,
01:53to get into power so that we can give the workers and the people of this country what
01:57they deserve.
01:58For Elder, his candidacy is based on patriotism.
02:02This country needs saving from the morass in which we find ourselves.
02:06Now, is UNC a perfect party?
02:10By no means it is.
02:11But is UNC the best party to take this country into government and into progress?
02:17Yes, it is.
02:20And I make no apologies to anyone for being on a UNC ticket to fight for Labre, because
02:28Labre, for all of the wealth and resources that Labre has, a pitch lake, so much oil,
02:36and what does the people of Labre have to show for those resources?
02:40Not one damn thing from this BNM government.
02:42Nothing.
02:43Elder says he's certain he will make enemies for going under a UNC ticket, but he will
02:48do what it takes to rid the country of the PNM.
02:52And I want to talk to the PNM people now.
02:56The PNM that you knew from a long time, it is not the PNM that is in power today.
03:04So if you feel you must hold on to your party, because your party is what you love.
03:13Your party does not love you.
03:15For Kiza, the formula is quite simple.
03:18I've lived in Point Forte my entire life.
03:20This is not my first rodeo.
03:23What is the difference, you ask, ma'am?
03:26We are in tune with the polling divisions.
03:29We know where we need to focus on if we have to take this seat.
03:34Point Forte campaign, UNC campaign 2025 knows exactly what we have to do to take this seat
03:44away from the PNM.
03:46We know exactly what we have to do.
