01:02been full of beans absolutely love the atmosphere you know sometimes the better team wins and tonight
01:09it was men beat boys I thought Madrid were absolutely excellent all the things we talked about energy with
01:15Gonzalez in there it didn't really work I thought Madrid's right on side were absolutely sensational
01:21today and and saying it's uh it's been a theme of their season really they've just been off it off
01:26the pace a little bit whether that be on the ball off the ball whether that be scoring goals whether that
01:32be defending whether that's been injuries everything has just happened to them and at the moment they can't
01:38deal with it and that is a difference but we have to give credit to Madrid tonight Mbappe sensational
01:43Valverde exquisite these players here and watching them live it was an absolute delight it sure was

03:08had our Champions League coverage here on CBS it's fantastic to be here one of the best stadiums
03:13in world football wasn't one of the best nights in football for Manchester City tonight they ended up
03:17losing 3-1 on the night to Real Madrid which made it 6-3 on aggregate Manchester City now out of the
03:23competition out of the Champions League before even the round of 16 kind of would have felt
03:26unbelievable or impossible to believe as we were coming into this season is that right yes yes right
03:33at the start here maybe even then when you saw how the season was going you could see that every
03:37time the level is a bit too high they can cope with it whatever it is wherever it is as soon as
03:42there is a bit of rhythm a bit of aggressivity into the game of the opponent they can cope with it and
03:47uh look I said it so many times this Man City side has been magnificent for years so if a team can get
03:55pass in terms of not having a good season it's Man City so look on the other side man you have to give
04:03a lot of credit to Real Madrid because if you remember the game against Liverpool he looked like
04:07they were not a team that were going to go really far and and do well maybe but then once again with
04:14Madrid if you doubt them that's a big mistake can I just ask you a question from a coach's point of
04:19view um obviously you can struggle with confidence you can struggle with energy we talked about the
04:24midfield we've talked about the defense but what what is it tactically this team and not doing why
04:30why is it being such a big drop-off from a coach's point of view look I mentioned so many times you
04:36know the the boss Pep is also dealing with stuff outside of the field that also not not easy to
04:41deal with when you have to deal with with what is doing you know divorce and whatnot uh now going back
04:47on the field you can't come here and they must have planned for something right I mean you go 1-0
04:52down straight into the game on something that's pretty basic the center back has the ball he's
04:58pushing it he's pushing the ball he's putting his head up you're still not dropping and on top of
05:02everything you don't read the flight of the ball you're trying to hit it um it's it's a bit it was a
05:07bit too easy for for for Real Madrid and and Man City and sorry and uh and Mbappe um but if you go
05:15back into the the tactical aspect of it I know we've said it so many times it is a cliche thing
05:22but if the aggressivity the the tempo is not there tactic won't won't do anything for you yeah just
05:29it looks at the moment you just sort of run out of ideas it's almost like Pep's tried everything
05:33hasn't he really you know you think of John Stones playing in midfield before that we've seen lots of
05:37different things Nico Gonzalez and Marmouche playing today Haaland on the bench it just you know everything
05:44Pep Guardiola has tried in his career and every different club is almost work he's the first guy
05:50who comes with Lionel Messi as a false nine he's the guy who puts his full backs into midfield he's
05:54always trying something different ahead of the game and he just hasn't got the answer right now
05:57sometimes tell you you know sometimes we get fixated maybe with with how great managers are
06:04no matter how great a manager you need good players and if you've got a team of players who
06:08can't run and can't cope physically with the opposition it doesn't matter what your tactics
06:12are or you know how you're going to go about it or what your plan is he's he's tried everything
06:15hasn't he it just won't work yeah I felt a little bit sorry for Kusinov today obviously he's had a
06:20a difficult start to his Man City career obviously he's a centre-half he's a right back tonight up
06:25against Vinicius and then Mbappe then Rodrigo and then Bellingham comes over that side and it's very
06:31difficult to come into this game you know I look back to Kyle Walker I mentioned it off there you
06:35know obviously wasn't having the best of season but I just think with his experience allowing him
06:39to go to Milan at this part of the season maybe you're looking at that and you've got a 20 year
06:43old playing at right back in one of the biggest games of Man City season so I mean you try to chop
06:50it up every single week you know we've looked at every single aspect of what Man City doing but
06:56it just looked like they've run out of legs looked like they've run out of steam it looks like they're
07:00so without wanting to be ideas yeah decision and confidence you know confidence is a massive thing
07:07in football okay massive massive thing you're looking at the players out there when they went
07:11one goal down normally Man City you're thinking they can get back into the game they'll find a way
07:16to get through the line to score a goal but today I was looking at him it's almost like there was
07:21playing within myself or the game's gone so if that's the case does the season get worse from
07:26here then because you've just taken a 3-1 dropping you're not going to play Real Madrid every week you
07:31know they're still in the FA Cup um they're looking to get into Champions League hopefully that the
07:36fifth position will get you the Champions League um this season you can rest also now you can rest
07:41and have more more time on the field because you're not in the Champions League anymore I guess I
07:45just meant in terms of confidence uh oh what we got coming up on the weekend oh it's a big one
07:51Liverpool didn't win tonight so where yeah it's a bit it's a big game for both teams because Man
07:55City leveled back of their minds that you know they need to qualify for this competition next
07:59season so it's not a case of okay the season's over and we'll think about next season Man City
08:03have got a lot riding on and you know Liverpool at this moment is still the best team in the
08:07league they're on the top of the table so it'll be a great game me and Big Mix are there aren't we
08:11yes we'll be working you're doing it yes together again double dipping no comment okay in terms of
08:24you know you're asking theory tactically do you think they'll make the Champions League positions
08:29yeah I think they will I think with the amount of rest that they've got I think when I watched
08:35them against Newcastle obviously it's not the same level as we're talking about one of the greatest
08:39teams you know with the front four Real Madrid have I think they will make the Champions I think
08:43it'd be difficult but I think they still have enough to make the Champions League yeah do you
08:46Jamie I think just yeah just uh I think there's a lot of teams around them now we're sort of just
08:53getting into bad form uh you know Aston Villa obviously played Liverpool and it's probably a good
08:57result for them in some ways but they've dropped got two points from two home games you've got Newcastle
09:01as well I think they've lost three of the last four in the Premier League Chelsea are really
09:04struggling so anyone down they put a little bit of a run together and in the Premier League actually
09:08Man City have put a little bit of a run together over late but uh but there's still a long way to
09:12go so how hard is it for us to judge Real Madrid from this performance tonight because I said it was
09:17Real Madrid doing Real Madrid things you said well yeah was it no no you know you you have to give
09:22Real Madrid a lot of a lot of credit but what I'm trying to say to you usually they they they they they
09:28work harder to to be able to go through but then when you start a game like that you could see it and
09:32they were confident they were going on the ball the holies came really early uh you have to give
09:38them credit because like I said we talked about it earlier in the season he looked like that they're
09:44maybe not going to find a way but they did find a way you have to give Ancelotti a lot of credit
09:49still a long way to go battling in the league battling in the Champions League as we as we all
09:54know but you have to give them a lot of credit I was just saying that City made it easy for them

13:54really good it was it was a fun game I think when you always focus more on the organization without
14:00the ball we know that with the ball we're gonna have the chances to win games and I think that was
14:03the key for us tonight sensational again how do you keep doing it at your age I mean I'm in all
14:11watching you up there and it's not just the the 30 40 yard ball that you sprayed across the field it's
14:18your energy it's your work rate to defend and attack as well how do you do it thank you I think you know
14:23I'm young so I got a lot of energy so that's that's the main thing but playing in a good team gives you
14:27confidence I think you guys know that I think the manager giving me that freedom to play you know
14:32how I see it really and you know I'm gonna make mistakes but I think the the main thing is that when
14:37nights like this come along that you know I put in performances that help the team win the game
14:40what is your best position or your preferred position I don't I'm not I'm not really sure
14:47to be fair I think it kind of depends on the the way the team set up um you just get that
14:55um no it depends on the team formation the way that the team want to play um I think here um
15:02plus defending as a left midfielder rolling inside is is nice because you have the obviously the freedom
15:06when Vinny goes wide as well so it doesn't really matter to me I try and give give whatever I can
15:11in whatever position you've you've had a little the thing with let's say with Manchester City over
15:15the last couple of years you've played in quite a lot the thing that that's really stood out to me
15:19not just the quality of Real Madrid we know that you've got that but the physicality right across
15:25the pitch against Manchester City and normally that's the strength of the Premier League teams
15:30when they play you know maybe a Real Madrid or a Barcelona or Bayern Munich I mean how did you feel
15:34because you just look so superior you know in the first leg and the second leg yeah I think that's
15:39a that's a big part of the game now you know that that physical side I think to play so many games
15:44for one and then play against Premier League teams in Europe you have to be ready physically you have
15:49to be robust you have to be kind of you know different kind of ways of winning games you have
15:54to have them you know I think technique will get you so far in these competitions but you need to
15:58be able to run and and compete you know can I just ask you about this this stadium this
16:03stadium is magnificent first time I've been here since obviously it's had the revamp what's it
16:08like playing here week in week out with a crowd the energy it's unbelievable yeah it can be a bit
16:14of a you know a hotbed of pressure I think from the outside that's the reputation it gets that you
16:18know like well don't don't not do well because they'll start but I really don't see it like that
16:22to be honest I feel like we have enough talented players we we can perform to the levels that like
16:27you try and block out as much as you can but there's moments when you know they really lift
16:32you I think we didn't particularly need it tonight but the games like last year when we've come from
16:36behind you wouldn't believe the kind of the push they give you especially when you're down in games
16:40and yeah it's really impressive it's a pleasure to play to be honest Jude I have two two questions but
16:47first I wanted to say I think what Micah was trying to say is that I also I would second that I love
16:53what you always do for the team you will put your ego on the side to do what's needed for the team so
16:59I respect that a lot having saying that I wanted to talk about two players Killian first because I do
17:06think that now he does understand that position and be patient and time is run at the right time and
17:12when he does that we all know that it's clinical so I wanted to know what you think about that and
17:16please can you talk about Rodrigo because this guy nobody talks about him his work rate and his
17:23skills what he does for the team how is it to play with those two yeah firstly Killian I think everyone
17:28knows what our special player is I think you know if that that start of the the season was difficult
17:33for him you know adjusting for a new team incredible pressure unimaginable for most players and I think
17:38it was only a matter of time before he got started and and when the goals came you know it was always
17:42going to be you know just a different level of player the confidence he has you know you give
17:47him the ball in any situation he can make something of it the speed yeah linking up with Vinny it's
17:52it's really terrifying for most defenders to play against so I imagine and Rodrigo so underrated you
17:57know I think for me it's probably the most talented and the gift most gifted player in the squad I think
18:02the things he can do with the football you know and you know we'd be messing around and he'll flick the
18:06ball up somehow and you're like how do you do that you know I mean I'm trying to do it twisting up my
18:10ankles and everything like that and yeah it's a pleasure to play with both of them you know you
18:14put them in positions where they can affect the games and they'll they'll win it for you I think
18:17Rodrigo another thing to mention is he's the one who kind of sacrifices the most really I think it's
18:21clear that his favorite position is the left I think it's important to note that you know he does
18:26a lot for the team as well defensively on the right side which isn't his favorite but never
18:30complain just gets on with it and that's the way we have to continue you know that's nice to see
18:34no really it is for sure round of 16 is obviously next yeah you've got the draw coming up on Friday
18:40it'll either be Atletico or Leverkusen just as like neutrals I guess so to speak a Madrid derby
18:46would feel good yeah that'd be nice be a nice atmosphere obviously we've dropped points to them
18:52both times in the league so it'd be nice to have that one back the atmospheres will be incredible here
18:56and away from home but obviously Leverkusen as well in great form playing amazing football last season
19:01as well some amazing players so uh whoever we get we've got to be ready we've got to be um bring
19:06it like we did today lineup looks fresh oh I was just about to say that the lineup is looking crazy

22:48as well but I tell you what I think there's some of the you know you think of Real Madrid or if Liverpool
22:52or Barcelona get a decent draw they might have a favorable draw right to a semi-final or a final
22:57mm yes I don't remember the bracket off the top of my head but I'll take your word for it

24:52to be a lot more movement they don't just stay in one position that was the that was the big thing
24:56that really stood out today but that quick feet is just that's why is that that's why is the best

25:07that that had the the goal and then he finished well but Rodrigo on the play was outstanding

26:40after the game Carlo you must be so happy about so many things but start with one what's the things
26:47that make you the happiest today to be qualified second second we defended well third we played a good
26:58football you sounded a couple of games ago when you were saying I didn't know my team could defend like
27:05this or the front four you sound surprised but I guess in a Champions League night you were all but
27:11surprised that they worked so hard with at the ball yeah yeah I think I'm really pleased for this
27:19because really difficult to think that with all this quality in front to defend also well but the
27:26sacrifice of the four was fantastic in this two game and this is the key because after that when you
27:33defend well in front we are really dangerous because we have so much quality and how do you convince them
27:40do you get upset with them do you put them videos do you just tell them come on guys no simply I I called
27:47them and they have to be here and I said to them to be more focused defensively to help the team to defend
27:54and to recover the ball and they did they did well you called them individually no no all together all
28:00all the four and with the ball you were outstanding with the ball I don't have with Mbappe, Vini, Rodri,
28:08Bellingham with the pass from the back of Raoul so we have a lot of options we can play we can be really
28:17dangerous in transition we can play a good ball we can play one against one on side and so a lot of
28:27fast with Mbappe a lot of possibility to to attack
28:35not to be surprised I guess or to be expected Carlo Ancelotti feeling pretty good about what
28:39he saw from his players tonight yeah and it's just so cool and calm you know and I think that's a big
28:45big strength of his and I go back to the Champions League final last season and even though we didn't
28:49get the chance to speak to him at the end of the game I think one of his interviews at the end
28:53we were talking about what what he said at half time what did he do because if you remember I mean
28:57Borussia Dortmund battered them in the first half and he just said everyone just needs to be calm and
29:01I just think he's got an ability here and he suits this club because if you remember when Jude
29:05Bellingham came over before he was talking about how hot he can get in here at certain times
