00:07The information was provided by the nation's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, during her daily
00:12morning press conference, where she explained that the meetings seek to eradicate drug trafficking
00:17and high-powered weapons on the border with the United States.
00:21Sheinbaum highlighted her government's effort to combat organized crime and informed that
00:26a methamphetamine laboratory had been dismantled in the Mexican state of Sinaloa.
00:31The president indicated that the upcoming meetings with U.S. officials will deal with
00:36the imposition of tariffs by the White House and the effectiveness of the U.S. initiatives
00:41against her country.
00:47This week we are waiting for the Secretary of Economy to meet with the Secretary of Commerce
00:51of the United States.
00:53Marcelo will go to Washington, and the security meeting is about to be confirmed.
01:04And we are still waiting for the definition of who will participate, hopefully it will
01:07be defined today.
01:09So this week these meetings will take place, the Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged,
01:15I think this is the first time it has been acknowledged, that it is not only the issue
01:24of drug trafficking but also the issue of weapons from the United States to Mexico.
01:28He said it openly in an interview, that we are asking them to participate as well, that
01:33weapons from the United States should not enter Mexico.
01:37The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, also highlighted the communication with the
01:42United States on security matters and detailed that they are awaiting the next bilateral
01:47meeting.
01:48With the commanders who are in the border operations on our side, with the United States
01:49border operation, there is already a lot of communication, very respectful, I must say.
02:03And now we are waiting to see who is going to be appointed by the United States and if
02:07Secretary Omar Garcia would be heading it on our side.
