Mexico: Govt. Hopes to reach understanding with U.S. over tariffs

The Mexican government is confident that an understanding can be reached with the United States regarding a definitive halt to the tariff issue.

00:11President Javier Milley ordered the withdrawal this Wednesday and affirmed that he had already

00:16given instructions to Foreign Minister Gerardo Huerta to define the definitive exit from

00:22the World Health Organization.

00:24Milley said that the decision comes as a result of the differences with the organization regarding

00:29health management.

00:31The President emphasized that this decision will not affect the country because they do

00:36not receive resources from the World Health Organization and that it will also allow health

00:41policies to be implemented according to the interests of Argentinians.

00:52The Mexican government is confident that an understanding can be reached with the United

00:56States regarding a definitive halt to the tariffs issue.

01:00After the temporary suspension of the application of the 25% tariff measures, Mexican President

01:07Claudia Sheinbaum indicated that she hopes to convince her U.S. counterpart to definitely

01:12suspend these measures and maintain their trade agreement.

01:17Sheinbaum also highlighted the strength of the negotiations with Washington and insisted

01:22on the importance of promoting not only the country but also North America as a whole.

01:27In this context, the Prime Minister of Canada also temporarily suspended the tariffs measures

01:32he had imposed in response to Trump's increase in tariffs.
