00:00Ron, if the season started today, Matt Shaw would be the everyday third baseman by all

00:05accounts.

00:06It's still, he's only got 35 games of AAA experience.

00:09How ready for the job is he and how concerned would you be to have as many as four kind

00:16of unproven guys in the Cub lineup on a regular basis if you talk about Shaw, PCA, Miguel

00:22Amaya, and Michael Bush?

00:24Two of those four, you kind of know what you're getting.

00:28For Bushy, I think he proved himself that he's, he understands what he's doing over

00:32there at first.

00:33He made great, great strides defensively last year as the season progressed.

00:38And he's a sound offensive player.

00:41He's got a sound approach, David.

00:42So he, to me, it looks like his feet are on solid ground in the big leagues.

00:48I think Amaya understands the defensive part somewhat and is getting there.

00:54Kelly made some good strides also on offense with Council's help in the middle of the

01:00season last year.

01:01And I thought that was very good.

01:03So I think he, I look for him to make some improvements also and be a solid guy with

01:11a very good backup and Tarson Kelly behind him that I think can help.

01:16So I think those two things are good.

01:19Matt Schott, to me, he's the one that you roll the dice on a little bit because he hasn't

01:25had a lot of time in AAA.

01:27He's an offensive player and he's, I have watched his workouts.

01:33I've had people send some stuff on his workouts and taking ground balls and he looks very

01:39good.

01:40So the defensive side, I think he's greatly improved and he's been a hitter everywhere

01:44he's gone.

01:45I don't anticipate him as a career having struggles, but that doesn't mean when you're

01:50first time in the big leagues, you won't.

01:53And then I think Pete Cromstrong has earned the right to be the everyday center fielder.

01:58At least, you know, getting a shot at facing some of the lefties and doing pretty well.

02:03So I really don't know that you could have made, other than the third base spot, obviously,

02:09where else would you have made a move that you wouldn't want these guys in there?

02:13So I think going into the offseason, you knew these were going to be your guys that

02:17you were going to go with.
