An argument escalated into a violence when a man attacked another with a meat cleaver near Jalan Meldrum, Johor Baru on Tuesday (Feb 11) afternoon.

Police investigation indicated that the fight stemmed from a heated argument while both were inebriated.

00:20Police investigation revealed that a 43-year-old unemployed man sustained head injuries after
00:26being slashed by a 45-year-old blacksmith suspect.
00:29Both were intoxicated.
00:31Police said the suspect and the victim were strangers who had been loitering and drinking
00:35at the scene.
00:36The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries and remains warded.
00:42Police arrested the suspect at the scene and also seized the weapon.
00:45Both individuals have 12 criminal records, including drug-related offences.
00:50The suspect also tested positive for drugs and he has been remanded for seven days at
00:55the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court.
