The travel patterns of current public transport users are unlikely to change despite the lower pump price under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy, as affordability and convenience remain their main considerations.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said commuters who rely on public transport would continue doing so, as the services remain cost-effective and practical compared with driving private vehicles.

00:00I think for the time being, of course, we have these public transport users who have a group of people who probably do not have their own vehicles or they use public transport to go to work on daily times, on normal times.
00:15But I do not foresee that it will be a change in terms of the pattern.
00:19Because, I mean, even though it will be dropped to 199, because people who have been using public transport will continue to use public transport, because public transport is equally affordable, it's equally cheap.
00:33Of course, with our monthly pass at RM50, and the convenience, and those who are working along the public transport corridor will continue to use public transport.
00:43So, I'm not that worried because of the lowering of the pump price will decrease the number of public transport users.
00:50Of course, this will be yet to be proven. We will continue to monitor the data.
00:56Of course, at the Ministry of Transport, we will continue to encourage people to use public transport.
01:01Because it is not just about the pump price, it's about the convenience, it's about the congestion.
01:06So, I mean, if you use public transport, you save a lot of time.
01:10If you use public transport, you save more cars on the road because the fuel prices are so low.
01:15But if you have 300 litres, you can go up to 300 litres, right?
01:21Yeah, but I mean, if we do not implement this policy, then of course, we have other issues as well.
01:28So, I think, are you complaining that the pump price is too low?
01:33I was wondering if it is sustainable or not to put prices so low at the same time you are trying to encourage people to use public transport?
01:42It's a targeted subsidy, it's a targeted subsidy, but you cannot just look at Malaysia just from the lens of Klang Valley.
01:49Okay, there are, I mean, 13 states in the country.
01:52So, besides Klang Valley, there are many other areas and states which depends on private vehicles, especially in the semi-rural areas and semi-urban areas.
02:02Where public transport is still limited.
02:05So, while we are encouraging more public transport, but at the same time, we have to take into consideration that not every part of the country can depend on public transport.
02:15That is the reality of what we face.
02:18When we think about blacks and places.
02:19What weませ, as man said, has been industrial industrial are being built up in the semi-txity.
02:25This is where police are always been complex for all.
02:28Ask far away for us to believe that.
02:30By public transport marshal.
02:31What migrants do ask us further?
02:33Have depend on public transport of lont dabing can be located.
02:36Have I tested for people standing there.
02:37What migrants do you have at the same time?
