Customers of the Water and Sewerage Authority who are billed online, will not receive a paper bill going forward.

It comes as WASA is undergoing an E-Billing transition.

But the Authority will continue to facilitate those who have constraints with that process.

Alicia Boucher has the details.

00:00The Wharton Sewage Authority refers to its e-bill transition as a significant
00:05step forward in modernizing its operations and enhancing customer
00:09experience. What it means is that customers will now receive their bills
00:13through the e-billing platform effective February 3rd. WASA's Director of
00:18Technology and Future Systems Alicia Romano explains that it is not a full
00:23transition. Well we're not fully transitioning because we do recognize
00:27that not all customers are sufficiently technically savvy and we don't have
00:32proper records in terms of an email address for all our customers but we are
00:37right now encouraging customers to move in that direction of accepting e-bills.
00:42People can update their e-billing preferences by visiting WASA's nine
00:46customer service centers or online via WASA's website and finally by scanning
00:51the QR code displayed on their current bills to access the e-billing
00:56registration portal. For the customers that we do have email addresses for that
01:01we will know similar to our other sister utilities which is both TNTech and
01:06TSGT who already have transitioned in this direction that WASA is now doing so.
01:12So anyone on record we have a working email address for them they will be
01:18getting their bill via e-billing system. But what about if you lose access to
01:23your email account or that account is simply full hindering the receipt of new
01:28mail? Romano says apart from WASA's 24-hour contact center a bill can always
01:32be printed at one of the customer service centers. But the good thing about
01:36WASA is that we all know that our bill comes quarterly. The bills have not
01:41changed, your rate has not changed so you know that you're receiving a bill every
01:47quarter if you realize for some reason you haven't gotten it in your email then
01:51you can reach out to us and we will rectify that we will work with you.
01:54WASA states that a move is in line with a broader strategy to reduce its carbon
01:58footprint, modernize operations and re-engineer its processes for greater
02:04efficiency. Alicia Boucher TV6 News
