Graeme Park was a resident DJ at the Hacienda for almost a decade, and he is a major part of Hacienda Classical, which will return to Castlefield Bowl this summer.

00:00When The Hassie and The Close in 97, it was kind of most of us were like, oh, well, we

00:04had a good run.

00:05That's it.

00:06But the interest never left.

00:10Because obviously, I mean, I've been DJs since 1984.

00:13And when The Hassie and The Close, I then got poached by Cream, I mean, like the day

00:20after The Hassie and The Close, I was Creamer on the phone, right, you got to come and DJ

00:23for us now.

00:24So I've kind of carry on doing my thing.

00:27Most of us did.

00:30So it wasn't really anything that we kind of pondered about or dwelled on.

00:37But of course, the general public would go on and on about it.

00:42And then, you know, a few years after The Close, you start to realize, well, yeah, the

00:46club does have a legacy that's worth shouting about, and a heritage that people should be

00:52aware of.

00:54So we started doing the odd Hassie and The Club night at Sankey's in Manchester, which

01:02was kind of a natural place to do it.

01:04And things just got bigger and bigger.

01:06And recently, the past few years, we've done the Warehouse Project towards the end of

01:13every year.

01:14So in December, we did the Warehouse Project, 8,000 people, most of whom, 80% of the crowd

01:21weren't even born when the Hassie and The Club closed.

01:25So it's really, really good.

01:27It's like people look at it as this kind of legacy venue.

01:33I do, and it's quite acclaimed, but I think it's fair to say it's the greatest nightclub

01:39that Britain's produced.
