00:00Ruben Amarim retains the backing of the Manchester United hierarchy despite their poor start to the new Premier League season.
00:08United have taken just four points from their opening four matches of the new campaign and were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town last month.
00:16But Amarim is not under immediate pressure to keep his Manchester United job.
00:22The United manager was backed with around £225m on new signings in the summer transfer window and he's going to be given a bit more time to prove that he can still be the man to turn United's fortunes around.
00:35But the facts aren't looking good for Ruben Amarim. United have taken just 31 points with 31 Premier League matches under him.
00:42He now has the worst and lowest win percentage of any permanent United manager since World War II.
00:49And yeah, there's further questions about his tactical approach to games.
00:53He said after the Man City defeat that he would not change his philosophy.
00:58He's adamant that it can still work here in English football.
01:02United, of course, play a very rigid 3-4-2-1 formation under Ruben Amarim.
01:08He also will defend that and say, look, a formation is maybe over-analyzed in the modern era of football.
01:14And when players are actually on the pitch, there's a lot more fluidity about the way they play.
01:18They often change on the fly.
01:20But the way and the manner in which United were torn apart at ease by Man City at the weekend suggests that it just simply is not working.
01:28United had some signs of improvement in the opening day defeat to Arsenal, but they still lost that game.
01:34They should have beaten Fulham, but they didn't.
01:35They drew.
01:36They were fortunate in the end to beat Burnley with a late penalty from Bruno Fernandes.
01:41And against Man City, well, they were completely second best.
01:44They were pushed to the side by Pep Guardiola's side.
01:47And a Man City team that didn't even play that well on the day.
01:51But Ruben Amarim still has the backing of the United board.
01:54Of course, it was only last November that he was appointed by Ineos.
01:57And he is still their man.
01:59You know, we could see Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox at the Etihad Stadium.
02:03They were both visibly distraught at the manner of United's performance.
02:07But they've invested so much in Ruben Amarim.
02:10Not only was he the guy that they appointed, like we said, he was backed with £225 million in the summer transfer window.
02:17And right now, he is still going to be the man to take them forward for the coming weeks.
02:21United have Chelsea at home in the Premier League this weekend.
02:23Then it's a trip to Brentford on the horizon.
02:26There has to be improvement at some point.
02:28United can't afford this poor run to continue.
02:31For now, it will still be Ruben Amarim's team.
02:33But if United don't continue and show signs of improvement before the next international break,
02:38well then, time could be running out for Ruben Amarim in less than a year in the role.
