I visited Preston for the first time and loved how multicultural Friargate was!

00:00My name's Emily with the Lancashire Post and this week I was in Preston for the first time ever.

00:05So I decided to look around, go to some well-known areas, just get a feel for the city.

00:10The first place that I went was Friargate.

00:19I knew going in that Friargate has lots of restaurants, it's known for lots of international food.

00:24When I got there I was surprised by just how many options there were.

00:29I really thought anything you're looking for, anything you're in the mood for, you could find along the street.

00:35There were so many places that looked amazing that I wanted to stop in and try.

00:39I think I would need a lot more time to get everything I wanted to.

00:43I was also surprised by just how nice it was to just go for a walk along the street, even not stopping in to try anything.

00:50The pavements are nice and wide, so it was just a Monday morning so it wasn't that busy,

00:55but if it had been more busy I think there would have been lots of space for everyone.

00:58And even with people going in and out of the restaurants, and the people who were walking along, there was lots of room for everyone.

01:13It's just a really pedestrian-friendly street and there weren't too many cars going by,

01:17so it was nice and peaceful, the air was fresh, clean.

01:21Gave it a nice community kind of atmosphere, lots of people out with friends,

01:26maybe going to get lunch while working or in university.

01:30There's also a few places I saw with outdoor seating, which I'm sure, especially in spring and summer, would be really nice.

01:36Just get some sun, do some people-watching.

01:39Even now, I'm sure, just stop and get a coffee to warm you up, it would still be really nice.

01:45All the different restaurants means there's just so much to look at as you're walking down the street.

01:48They all have their unique looks.

01:51It just makes it really vibrant and colourful, and I really enjoyed looking at each place as I went along.

01:57Even if you're not planning on stopping to eat, I was looking at the menus in the windows, obviously you can smell the foods.

02:02I was definitely writing down some places that I'd love to try someday.

02:09Even if you're not planning on stopping to eat, I think it would be a really great place to just go for a walk,

02:13enjoy the fresh air, be out in the city, and then maybe add some new restaurants to your list along the way.
