00:00Hi, my name is Rira Mays reporting for Lancashire Post. Today we're going to ask the people
00:07why they're proud to be from Lancashire.
00:10I like the people. I feel like we're really warm. I like when you walk down the street
00:15someone will always say hello to you. Or if you're on a night out, you'll always get someone
00:19being like, yeah we've got a girl on. I like this, I like that. I like that, I don't like
00:24that. It's weird. Yeah. Rigid.
00:31What would you tell someone who's coming to Lancashire why they should come here?
00:35To come to Lancashire for the scenery. Yeah.
00:40At times of the year, especially autumn. I'm proud to be from Lancashire because of the
00:49scenery, bits of the scenery, and the people, and our food and drink culture. Even in Preston
00:57you can find Mowglies, that's like Misha Katona and stuff. That's like, you know, really cool.
01:03Yeah, there's a lot of variety as well, as you can see up here, which is really nice.
01:07What makes you proud to be living in Lancashire?
01:11Well, the community. Everyone's so different, but at the end of the day we're all the exact same.
01:21You can talk to anyone from anywhere and there might be a bit of banter here and there, but
01:28everyone's just really friendly.
01:31What would you tell someone who is visiting Lancashire why they should come here?
01:37I'd just tell them to come for the people. There's a lot of that.
01:44I've been born and bred in Preston and basically I think the communities are really good with one another.
01:51There's no animosity amongst people. Everyone mixes with each other. The cultures are good.
01:56There's different cultures mixing with different cultures. People from abroad, everyone's really
02:01friendly in Preston. But people that are coming to live in Preston, there are new houses being built
02:05all around Preston. Beautiful houses, affordable houses. And again, like I said, it's a friendly city.
02:11It's a really nice city to come and live in. You could say Manchester, but then it's too busy in Manchester.
02:18Preston, like I said, is very multi-cultured. Different kinds of religions, different cultures
02:24and everyone respects each other's values.
02:28It's where you're born. You always associate with the place that you live.
02:35I think especially with those two, football comes into it because we're so proud of it.
02:39I'm so proud of Preston, he's so proud of Blackpool.
02:43It's having a bit of self-pride, proud of where you're coming from and never really forgetting your roots.
02:49It's nice having that rivalry, like with Yorkshire as well particularly. I've got family from Yorkshire.
02:55You've got to stick up for the Red Roses a little bit.
02:59There's so many things going on. Just get yourself involved. If you move up to Manchester,
03:04don't be afraid to go about, make some friends and all you can do is eat.
03:08People are so nice. It's a nice place to live.
