00:40on Elections to clarify concerns regarding Oklang Katok.

00:43According to PNP, this will be an opportunity for the police to present the mechanism of

00:48Oklang Katok, demonstrate how it works, and identify who exactly are up for police visits.

00:55Despite this, the PNP remains firm that it will not halt operations against loose firearms.

01:00This despite the Comelec's request to first present the operational plan and reassess

01:05the program before implementing it during the election period.

01:08For the Comelec, Oklang Katok could potentially be used for intimidation by candidates or

01:14for political purposes.

01:16However, according to PNP Chief Police General Romel Francisco Marbil, they will only pay

01:21visits to gun owners whose licenses have expired to remind them to renew.

01:25Marbil added having a list based on their data system of individuals with expired firearms

01:30licenses who need to be notified.

01:33He also stressed that Oklang Katok will not be used for political purposes or harassment.

02:04According to the PNP, they are tracking over a million firearms with expired licenses based

02:09on their records.

02:10Since 2024, the PNP Firearms and Explosive Office has issued over 600,000 notices to

02:17gun owners with expired licenses.

02:19More than 347,000 of these cases resulted in license revocations due to non-renewal.

02:26In summary, over half a million notices still need to be sent to firearm owners.
