00:00Police have issued more than 104,000 traffic summonses under OPS Selamat 23 as of Saturday.

00:08According to Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, JSPT, Director

00:13Commissioner Datuk Sri Mohamad Yusri Hassan Basri, over 49,000 summonses were for six

00:18major offences – speeding, running red lights, using mobile devices while driving, misusing

00:25the emergency lane, queue cutting and overtaking on double lines.

00:30Statistics also indicate a decrease in traffic summonses compared to the same period last

00:34year.

00:35Commissioner Mohamad Yusri said the department will conduct a study to determine whether

00:39this decline is due to improved compliance or past road safety campaigns.

00:44OPS Selamat 23, which began on January 28, involves over 3,600 personnel to ensure smooth

00:51implementation.

00:53The operation aims to reduce road accidents, manage traffic flow and prevent house break-ins

00:58during the festive season in collaboration with the Crime Prevention and Community Safety

01:03Department.

01:05Police have identified 408 congestion hotspots and 76 accident-prone black spots on federal

01:11state and city roads, including 27 hotspots and 17 black spots on highways.

01:17With an estimated 1.82 million vehicles expected on highways, Commissioner Mohamad Yusri urged

01:23road users to remain patient and adhere to traffic rules.
