00:00Energy is power from whence comes prosperity and progress.
00:04But such precious assets and gift is not unlimited and proper use in conservation spells the difference between deliverance and disaster.
00:12Hence, the Department of Energy is on a drive to enlighten the youth,
00:15the youth especially on the proper use and conservation of electricity beginning in the home.
00:20As our Rod Lagosad reports.
00:24Expand further and reach more people.
00:26This is the goal of the You Have the Power campaign by the Department of Energy and the Presidential Communications Office
00:33when it comes to energy efficiency and conservation.
00:36This nationwide campaign is particularly targeted toward the youth, taking place in various malls across the country.
00:43This includes conducting learning sessions, competitions and exhibitions to highlight the importance of saving electricity and its proper usage.
00:51Ang target kasi natin yung youth dahil pagka-sustainability, sila yung next generation natin eh.
00:58It's habit forming.
00:59So we want to start na hanggang bata sila, matutunan na nila yung mga tamang behavior,
01:05tamang pagtitipid, tamang pag-ibig ginagamit, i-unflug muna and all of the other technologies.
01:11Aquino said this is to teach the youth early on what the right practices are.
01:16He emphasized that the youth can help inform older members of their households.
01:19The DOE is working together with the PCO to further disseminate the information to a brother audience.
01:42Sometimes it's hard for people to understand policy briefs, technical terms, and that's where communication comes in.
01:49We're trying to make it simpler for the general masa to understand what energy efficiency is about,
01:56make it more relatable for them, and of course make it easier for the kids and our students
02:02to really digest and understand what the true meaning of energy efficiency is.
02:09She said it is a big advantage that various stakeholders, the private sector, are in collaboration with the government,
02:15especially since the public uses their products.
02:18They're the ones who provide us with the materials and the tools na kailangan natin.
02:23And we use their products every day.
02:26So we need them involved kasi they're the ones developing these materials.
02:30So to make it more energy efficiency friendly, it's very very important for this cause.
02:35According to DOE, Filipinos are becoming more educated on energy efficiency,
02:40such as buying LED lights or inverter air conditioners.
02:44The department reminds everyone that energy efficiency starts with each of us.
02:48Rod Lagosad for the National TV Network for Renewing Better Philippines.
