Britons need better work ethic, says senior Tory MP Chris Philp

The shadow home secretary says the UK is in a global race and everyone needs to make a contribution.

00:05I do a bit. There are nine million working age adults who are not working and as we compete

00:11globally with countries like South Korea, China, India, we need a work ethic, we need everybody

00:19to be making a contribution. We are in, as George Osborne said years ago, we are in a global race

00:24and that means we've got to be competitive and it means we've got to work hard and I think as a

00:29country we need to lift our game, we need to up our game.
