00:00The target of the NFA is to produce 150,000 metric tons of rice, or more than 3 million sacks, in the next 6 months.
00:10This is in time for the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency regarding the rising price of rice.
00:19According to NFA Administrator Larry Lacson,
00:23the buffer stocks will be issued to government and local government units,
00:27especially in places where the price is still high.
00:31The official also explained that their warehouses may also help in preparing for the upcoming period
00:39that will end in mid-February.
00:42If NFA agrees, this buffer stock will be sufficient for the time of calamity or disaster.
00:49Under the Rice Tarification Law,
00:53the 15-day rice buffer stock must be maintained.
00:57Currently, the target price of rice purchased is P23 per kilo.
