00:00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30If you had to send a man out to score a goal to save your life, there's only one man you
00:00:53send out, it's if you send a lawman.
00:00:55I think Dennis was the king, he was just a superb player.
00:01:02He was an absolute dynamo in the box.
00:01:05There's a man going round taking names.
00:01:09And he decides who to free and who to blame.
00:01:15He was like lightning, Dennis.
00:01:17Anything round about the 18-yard box, you know, he'd have it in the back of the net.
00:01:22You didn't tell Dennis Law how to play.
00:01:25These were players that we thought if we passed the ball well to each other, they would do
00:01:28things on their own to win matches for you.
00:01:31No one took more pride in wearing the blue jersey of Scotland than the lawman.
00:01:35The multitudes are marching to the big program.
00:01:41Versus calling, voices crying.
00:01:44Law!
00:01:45Oh, yes!
00:01:46Some are falling, some are dying.
00:01:49Oh, yes!
00:01:50It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come.
00:01:54Beautiful girl by Law.
00:01:56And that really seals a quite tremendous performance by Dennis Law.
00:02:01When the man comes around.
00:02:03And Law has done what he's so supremely good at.
00:02:08One and only a queen of the standard end, Dennis Law.
00:02:11Oh!
00:02:17Farewell to the king.
00:02:18Dennis Law was one of the true greats.
00:02:21He will be missed.
00:02:22Five games coming up.
00:02:25Danny Murphy and Ashley Williams join us.
00:02:28Liverpool's draw with Nottingham Forest in midweek saw their lead at the top cut to four points,
00:02:33but with Arsenal playing in the late game, they had the chance to go seven clear against Brentford.
00:02:38Your commentator at the GTEC, Mark Scott.
00:02:42Having been pretty much perfect since Sana Slott took over,
00:02:46Liverpool have had a bit of a blip by their very high standards,
00:02:50winning just one of their last four games in league and cup.
00:02:54The leaders face a Brentford side who fought back from two down late on
00:02:58to draw with the champions in midweek.
00:03:00They're one different from that game today,
00:03:03as Yehor Jamaluk replaces the benched Matthias Jensen.
00:03:06Johan Wissers now the B's outright all-time top scorer in the Premier League,
00:03:11having moved on to 37 with his strike against Manchester City.
00:03:16There's also one change for Liverpool from midweek.
00:03:19Kostas Simakas starts in the league for the first time since November,
00:03:23with Andy Robertson making way.
00:03:25Mohamed Salas scored in all of his last four games against Brentford,
00:03:29there's no Diogo Jota in the squad because of a Thaian dream.
00:03:36This is the ground that's seen the most goals scored in the Premier League this season,
00:03:40with 50 going in across the 11 games played here so far.
00:03:45It's a match that promises to keep with that pattern.
00:03:48Yarmaluk trying to get the other side of Alexander-Arnold, who's overrun it.
00:03:54Damsgaard nips in.
00:03:59Ambitious pass, but he's pulled it off.
00:04:01Boumou with the instant control.
00:04:03Rerslev arriving on the overlap.
00:04:05Silbright and Boumou, now Rerslev dangerous off!
00:04:09Any kind of touch from Damsgaard and it was 1-0 Brentford.
00:04:14Just deceived the Dane as it came his way.
00:04:19His side have got the best away record in the Premier League this season.
00:04:22Seven wins and three draws so far.
00:04:26That's nice from McAllister.
00:04:28Oh, and it was very nice from Gravenberg too.
00:04:31Needed saving from Fleck and this.
00:04:34In second glance it might have just been curling wide.
00:04:42Beautiful turn that from McAllister, feeding Mo Salah.
00:04:48Watchful from Lewis Potter, but then pretty careless from him as well.
00:04:52Gifted to Gakpo.
00:04:54Zboslai, nice footwork, Zboslai still going!
00:04:59Everything but the finish there from the Hungarian.
00:05:03Twinkle toes to twist his way into the area, but then no real venom on the hit.
00:05:09Comfortable for Flecken in the end.
00:05:14That's a risky pass, Jan-El can control.
00:05:19McAllister.
00:05:20Zboslai.
00:05:23Zboslai.
00:05:25Invited to have a ping here!
00:05:27Oh!
00:05:28What an effort!
00:05:30Inches away from a screamer to put Liverpool in front.
00:05:36They can have a laugh about things.
00:05:38Diaz has lost it to Norgard.
00:05:46Here's Brian Mpumo.
00:05:48Tried to cut it back for Norgard, who might still get there.
00:05:52Van Dijk to the rescue for Liverpool.
00:05:54Gakpo.
00:06:00Cleverly done.
00:06:02Zboslai.
00:06:03Numbers in Liverpool's favour here.
00:06:04It's Mo Salah.
00:06:06Alarm bells ringing for Brentford.
00:06:07What a ball!
00:06:08Gakpo!
00:06:09No!
00:06:10No.
00:06:14Well, he must have thought that was 1-0 Liverpool.
00:06:17Gakpo has scored in three of his last four Premier League games, set up beautifully by Mo Salah.
00:06:23And he knows just what an opening that was.
00:06:32Canate.
00:06:37Gravenberg, lovely pass.
00:06:38Luis Diaz, good save, Flecken.
00:06:41Oh, and Flecken!
00:06:42Has he tripped Luis Diaz?
00:06:44Andy Matley says not.
00:06:48Well, this might be interesting.
00:06:50Because Paul Tierney wants another look at it.
00:06:54Diaz on to the rebound, but Paul Tierney says there was no contact here, so there's no case to answer.
00:07:06Chardin helped on for Wisser.
00:07:09Brentford haven't offered too much going forwards in the second half.
00:07:13They've got themselves a free kick here.
00:07:15Canate nudging Johan Wisser off it.
00:07:18Bent in by Mbumo, oh, it's a good ball, and Alisson got his paws to it.
00:07:27Yarmaluk.
00:07:32Brent the ball.
00:07:34It's a rare moment of note in that Liverpool penalty area in the second half.
00:07:39Back to Roerslev.
00:07:44And up there for a cluster of red and white shirts, and...
00:07:48Damsgaard has found for an Mbumo!
00:07:50Oh!
00:07:51Alisson gets his body in the way, and then gathers quickly before Chardin could gobble up the rebound.
00:07:57Big heave into the area that Liverpool struggled to deal with.
00:08:00Collins back across, and then Damsgaard to Mbumo.
00:08:03No real pace on the effort, though.
00:08:06It's far from a malfunction for the slot machine, but Liverpool not quite motoring as we've been used to seeing them.
00:08:17Jones.
00:08:19Alexander-Arnold will have a crack!
00:08:23Oh!
00:08:24Farr away.
00:08:27Scored a banger in the FA Cup last weekend, and this one whistled narrowly wide of Flecken's post.
00:08:35Norgaard only has Mbumo further forwards.
00:08:38Canate's nicked it off him.
00:08:40Two minutes of normal time left.
00:08:42Jones.
00:08:44Alexander-Arnold.
00:08:48Curtis Jones.
00:08:49Wessler took it off him fairly.
00:08:51And it's given away, Darwin Nunez for Mo Salah!
00:08:58Was that the chance for Liverpool to snatch the win right at the end?
00:09:03Close, but no cigar.
00:09:08Van Dijk.
00:09:11Federico Chiesa.
00:09:15Four additional minutes have just been signalled.
00:09:19Alexander-Arnold.
00:09:21Harvey Elliott.
00:09:23Back here for Alexander-Arnold.
00:09:25And again, and in!
00:09:27Darwin Nunez has possibly won it for Liverpool!
00:09:34Liverpool showing just why they're league leaders.
00:09:38They've had to be patient.
00:09:41But going into stoppage time, they have found a way through.
00:09:44And it's Darwin Nunez who's got it!
00:09:48Well, some questions have been asked about his confidence, but he absolutely smacked that one home.
00:09:55Liverpool have left it late, but they have possibly got the job done right at the very end.
00:10:03Brentford 0-0.
00:10:06Liverpool 1.
00:10:10Salah.
00:10:12Here's Chiesa.
00:10:14Liverpool looking to wrap it up here.
00:10:16Elliott.
00:10:18And across for Nunez!
00:10:21There's another!
00:10:23That'll do it for Liverpool!
00:10:25What an impact from the substitute!
00:10:27Two goals and a couple of minutes in stoppage time.
00:10:31And Liverpool are home and dry now.
00:10:34A ruthless Liverpool counter.
00:10:38Brentford simply sliced apart.
00:10:40Too much nous here from the away side.
00:10:43Chiesa driving.
00:10:44Elliott dribbling.
00:10:46And then Nunez rifling home.
00:10:48Brentford 0-0.
00:10:50Liverpool 2.
00:10:52Just when you thought there might have been another wobble from the leaders on a slot side.
00:10:57Have the points in the bag now.
00:10:59We were close to again not getting what we deserved today because the amount of chances we've created today was like Tuesday I think again in Forrest.
00:11:10A lot again.
00:11:12And we were close to again go off without a win.
00:11:16And that combined with the late winner was where we were mostly happy about.
00:11:20And because it was a significant game.
00:11:22I thought we did a lot of things right.
00:11:24I think we defended very well when we had to.
00:11:26I don't think of course we gave some opportunities away but not too big.
00:11:32I think we handled the difficult situations very well.
00:11:35We know when a little bit of open space they are dangerous.
00:11:39And had to do well those situations which I thought we did.
00:11:43Yeah it's a little bit tough to take but I'm pleased with the performance.
00:11:46Darwin you know I think since the day you came in you know it brings like a lot of energy.
00:11:51And obviously as a striker you are judged by your goals.
00:11:56When you don't score I think for him it's maybe even tougher than ever and he's working hard and he's learning.
00:12:03And you know today he had a massive massive part to the victory and I think it was well deserved.
00:12:08He's always having a lot of impact when he comes in because he brings a lot of energy and power.
00:12:13And most of our games, not all of them but most of them are especially last half hour.
00:12:18We control, completely dominate in and around the 18-yard box and that's where he's at his best.
00:12:23To have someone like Darwin who can score a goal is nice to have on the bench.
00:12:27For me it's the best team in the Premier League right now, best team in the world right now.
00:12:31And I think they are a huge favour to win it.
00:12:34I know they need to play down and in football you never know so they need to take it game by game but right now they are.
00:12:40Well it took them a while to score especially when you consider they had the most shots by an away team since Okta opted in.
00:12:49They actually scored with their last two numbers 36 and 37.
00:12:56They just kept knocking at the door didn't they?
00:12:59Knocking at the door and eventually it opened.
00:13:01Yeah and it was dramatic and I enjoyed it.
00:13:03They played like a team guy with a point to prove.
00:13:06They were relentless in their energy, their quality.
00:13:09I think if people were thinking about Liverpool maybe having a blip, it was put to bed today.
00:13:14They've had some results recently where people have questioned them, they've not finished teams off, looked a bit vulnerable in certain games.
00:13:21But today from minute one the relentlessness of them, I mean this is Simicast the left back trying to get him behind early.
00:13:27But it's not just committing men forward, it's the quality.
00:13:30McAllister, I think he's been brilliant in recent months leading the team midfield and they put Brentford on the back foot.
00:13:36They actually risk losing games to win them so often.
00:13:39Look how many men they've got forward, great options for Sir Bozlay ahead of him.
00:13:43He's come back into the team, added some energy and some zest and some tenacity.
00:13:47Counter attacks, always one of Liverpool's strengths.
00:13:50Salah, who's had a few games now without a goal unlike him, great pass, you expect Gakpo to do better.
00:13:56They also had good rotation in forward areas as well, there was lots of variation.
00:14:00This is the second half when I think they upped it another gear.
00:14:02Five against three, that's Trent in the middle of that five by the way, trying to get forward and win the game.
00:14:06And they just wore Brentford out, they just kept at them again and again and again.
00:14:12Should play Diaz in here, makes the wrong decision.
00:14:15If any criticism of Liverpool today, they should have done better in the positions they got.
00:14:19Finishing, well decision making as well as the finishing, Gary.
00:14:22Look, this is how high the back four is.
00:14:23Now Brentford did cause them some problems on the counter.
00:14:26But you've got to make risky passes, you've got to try and get it in there.
00:14:29Little intricate passes and Diaz again unlucky, keeper plays well.
00:14:33Then we'll talk about strength in depth that maybe other teams don't have.
00:14:37Liverpool have it in abundance, it was Jota at Forest.
00:14:40Nunez should do better there, it's a poor finish.
00:14:42But he stays in the area where you want a striker to be, which encourages more crosses.
00:14:47And the other substitutions work well as well.
00:14:51But this again, it's poor finishing.
00:14:54You shouldn't be leaving it to 90 minutes, you can't do that every week.
00:14:56These are the other players I'm talking about.
00:14:58Harvey Ellert, Curtis Jones was on the pitch.
00:15:01And this is the goal.
00:15:02Get a bit of luck there, deservedly so, when you're constantly in the opposition box.
00:15:06And that could do Darwin Nunez the world of good moving forward as the season progresses.
00:15:10Because we're going to need everyone.
00:15:12They weren't happy with the one, you'd think they might drop off and protect.
00:15:16No, not this Liverpool side.
00:15:17Here's the four subs.
00:15:18Chiesa came off the bench as well, which is good to see.
00:15:21Harvey Ellert makes the right choice.
00:15:23And because his confidence is up, he smashes in the second.
00:15:26And I think it's great to see his teammates celebrate with him.
00:15:30When you're going through a bad spell, not that you went through one as a striker, Gary, but you know.
00:15:34I think it's great that the lads come up to him, give him a hug and make him feel part of it.
00:15:40I'm going through one now, will you give me a hug?
00:15:42Let's wait till after this show.
00:15:43Thomas Frank said they're the best team in the world right now.
00:15:48Now, obviously, people say, well, you've got to win a title first and you've got to win probably the Champions League.
00:15:53But at this present moment in time, he's probably right.
00:15:55I agree with him. Yeah, right now.
00:15:57Yeah, I think that what Danny said, the strength of the squad, I think they've got the strongest squad at the minute.
00:16:03They're unbeaten away.
00:16:05I do think they're going to win the league. And then I think they've got their sights on the Champions League.
00:16:08And if they do do that, then we can say they're the best team in the world right now.
00:16:10Yeah, they're taking some stopping, that's for sure.
00:16:13So, over to Arsenal, who hadn't lost at the Emirates in the league since April.
00:16:18That defeat came against today's opponents, Aston Villa, and ended up costing them the title.
00:16:23Your commentator, Jonathan Pearce.
00:16:24Another Villa win would again dent the title hopes of Mikel Arteta, whose team, despite criticism, have exactly the same points as at this stage last season, and have only actually scored two fewer than Liverpool since the start of last campaign.
00:16:39But their conversion rate of big chances is only the eighth best in the division. Not good enough. So, once again, the onus will be on Kai Havertz to take the opportunities that come in the absence of Jesus and Saka.
00:16:51In a side, missing Saliba with a muscle injury. Marino comes in. Partey will play right back. Timber centre-back. Martinelli replaces Sterling.
00:17:00It's 32 years since Villa last enjoyed successive league victories at Arsenal. Confidence is high after three wins on the spin in this new year.
00:17:07Matts and Virginia, their only change. New signing, Daniel Mallon, once of Arsenal, is on the bench.
00:17:15They've only converted 38% of their 71 big chances. Now, that ranks them below Newcastle, Wolves, Manchester City, Liverpool, Leicester, Tottenham and Brentford coming into today's game.
00:17:28That's a brilliant take by Declan Rice, what a take that was. Super control.
00:17:35Palmitz is there with him, bends the ball and Gabriel had stayed forward and Martinelli, and it's blocked and parried.
00:17:41Emi Martinez grabbed hold of it. And a really good start by Arsenal.
00:17:46Wonderful control by Declan Rice. Waited till Gabriel got back on-site, then looked for the Brazilian.
00:17:53Martinelli was coming in behind and Martinez had to stretch. It's a good save in the end.
00:17:58They've conceded a goal from their opponent's first shot on target in 11 Premier League matches this season.
00:18:05It's quite staggering though.
00:18:09Now Havertz.
00:18:12Kai Havertz, two to the left-hand side.
00:18:15Picks out Charles Ardell, roll in on the right for Navagot. Goal!
00:18:19And it was dipping alarmingly for Villa, but Martinez was equal to it.
00:18:22Curious route for the ball from this shot. Oh, it just looped up, that's why. It cannot catch his knee. And then dipped.
00:18:32Oh, that's a risk, that's a risk, and Watkins is on it.
00:18:43It's a terrible throw-in.
00:18:46This party looks rather sheepish.
00:18:49From there into the centre of your defence, and Watkins locked over.
00:18:52It's a big chance for Villa.
00:18:55Manages the error.
00:18:59Gabriel.
00:19:07Luis Skelly.
00:19:09It's well played, Arsenal.
00:19:11Into Trossard from Marino.
00:19:13The cross to Martinelli.
00:19:14Parried away, brilliantly was it over the line.
00:19:17Goal given!
00:19:18That's the lead.
00:19:20Superb goal.
00:19:22It's telling that young,
00:19:24Luis Skelly had a role in it.
00:19:27Martinelli finished it off.
00:19:29Beautiful cross from Trossard,
00:19:31bending away from the goalkeeper who blocked the initial attempt.
00:19:33It's clearly over the line.
00:19:37Ball released to Trossard.
00:19:39Took on Kamara on the outside.
00:19:41It really was a delicious cross.
00:19:43Could well have blocked the first effort, but couldn't keep it out of the net.
00:19:47And Arsenal are ahead.
00:19:59Now Trossard.
00:20:03Cross pulled into Havertz.
00:20:07And Arsenal have a second.
00:20:11Same route to the first.
00:20:13Trossard with a big hand in it.
00:20:15And Havertz finished it.
00:20:17Like a really good striker should finish it.
00:20:21Long way back for Villa now.
00:20:23Just slipped away from his man.
00:20:25Gained himself a yard to get the cross in.
00:20:28And it's brilliantly finished.
00:20:30That's a super finish.
00:20:31That's 13 he has now in all competitions this season.
00:20:36So often the target of social media criticism.
00:20:40Arsenal need a born scorer, they say.
00:20:43A 20-goal a season now.
00:20:45But he always comes up with important goals for them.
00:20:48And Arsenal have the three points now,
00:20:51unless there's a major, major turnaround.
00:20:52Because Villa have been poor.
00:20:53Spray down then by Bocart.
00:20:54Across from Dinias.
00:20:55Dangerous!
00:20:56And they're back in the game.
00:20:57Uri Tillemans with the diving header.
00:20:58Arsenal switched off.
00:21:00Tillemans got the header in.
00:21:01Lovely ball from the left-hand side.
00:21:02Look at the space over there though.
00:21:03No one was out there with Luca Dinias.
00:21:05And he got in behind the defender.
00:21:07It's a beautiful delivery from the left-hand side.
00:21:08And Tillemans flung himself at it.
00:21:10Tillemans got the header in.
00:21:11Lovely ball from the left-hand side.
00:21:14Look at the space over there though.
00:21:15No one was out there with Luca Dinias.
00:21:18And he got in behind the defender.
00:21:20It's a beautiful delivery from the left-hand side.
00:21:23And Tillemans flung himself at it.
00:21:26Really good run.
00:21:27Goal side of Marino.
00:21:30Good goal.
00:21:34And suddenly Villa got a man over.
00:21:36Ramsey.
00:21:41Kamara making the run to the edge of the penalty area with him.
00:21:45Looking for Rodgers.
00:21:46Half cleared away!
00:21:48It gets out of the post.
00:21:50Tillemans again.
00:21:51Nearly had two in a minute.
00:21:53Astonishing.
00:21:54They were down and out looking a beaten side.
00:21:56And it could have been 2-2.
00:21:58Poor clearance.
00:22:00Struck the foot of the post.
00:22:06Right way through the second half.
00:22:07From 2-0 up.
00:22:08This would be a mighty blow for Arsenal.
00:22:10If they don't win all three points,
00:22:12it could be a significant blow to their title hopes.
00:22:16Gonna have to get another one.
00:22:18That's in cash.
00:22:22Dangerous crossbucket in the middle!
00:22:23It's 2-2!
00:22:24Eddie Watkins.
00:22:25Left alone at the far post.
00:22:28Lifts it beyond David Ryan.
00:22:31From 2-0 down after 55 minutes.
00:22:34It's 2-2.
00:22:36What a comeback.
00:22:38Terrific game of football.
00:22:39And I think Aston Villa were just about to substitute him.
00:22:43Hovering in the box for just this sort of opportunity.
00:22:45Timed his run well.
00:22:46Looks onside.
00:22:48Cracked it in brilliantly.
00:22:50He's had a good game at right-back, Thomas Partey.
00:22:52But just watch this.
00:22:54He steps out.
00:22:55And therefore he loses his man, Odie Watkins.
00:23:01He steps out there trying to play him offside, I think.
00:23:03And therefore Watkins is away.
00:23:05Unmarked.
00:23:06It's a first mistake.
00:23:07Partey's made at right-back, but it was a costly one.
00:23:09This would be a bitter pill for Arsenal to swallow.
00:23:16And it goes to Edouard.
00:23:17Tickets.
00:23:18And the run.
00:23:20No foul by Kamara.
00:23:22Now Rodgers for Aston Villa.
00:23:24And they look so threatening when they counter like this.
00:23:28Opportunities right and left.
00:23:31Picks out Bailey.
00:23:33Little set-up board.
00:23:35And it nearly crept beyond Rea.
00:23:37The shot was by Bogart.
00:23:40That would have been something.
00:23:432-0 Aston Villa win here last season.
00:23:46Put pay to Arsenal's title dream.
00:23:49And drop points against Villa here today would leave them adrift on Liverpool once more.
00:23:56They knew what Liverpool had done at Brentford earlier on the day.
00:23:59They knew what they had to do here today.
00:24:01That's the first one.
00:24:02A good one.
00:24:05Rice.
00:24:06Pounced upon by two.
00:24:07Battling on.
00:24:08Declan Rice.
00:24:10Couldn't get the ball off in Villa.
00:24:12Refuses across looking for Havertz.
00:24:13Gonna come out here for Mourinho.
00:24:15It's in.
00:24:16it's in they would have just flipped off habits on the way through
00:24:23what a game this is turned out to be i think marino shot deflection of kai habits
00:24:29but did he go in off his arm villa appealing for handball where did it hit it on the side of the arm
00:24:41it's going to be disallowed for handball
00:24:46the goal is ruled out it stays 2-2 and you feel agreed by this one
00:24:56arsenal know they really need to win this
00:25:01now gabriel seven minutes of stop is time to play falling behind
00:25:05trosser with the center and a god couldn't give the shot away
00:25:08marino down off the post slowly the rise trosser saved by martinez
00:25:13the blistering end to the game driven hard by marino studded against the post and then martinez makes the
00:25:25save
00:25:28at times chaotic at other times absolutely sensational this game
00:25:33here's party we're into the sixth minute of stoppage time space for lewis skelly
00:25:43made a run in behind the under a touchdown to win it steals away wouldn't have counted he was offside
00:25:49the flag was raised oh i'm not too sure he was doesn't matter anyway it's wide might have
00:25:59been his body leaning forward the flag went up that certainly would have gone to var
00:26:06it is two massive massive points
00:26:09dropped by arsenal should the goal have stood arsenal to a similar to
00:26:16sucker punch they they got the two goals very very quickly didn't they one on top of the other
00:26:20defensive lack of concentration focus what i don't want to put a word into it but nowhere near
00:26:26the standards that we have to demand and it's a really thin line against them because they keep
00:26:30you on the verge all the time and and yeah you want to win games and win games by big margins those
00:26:37kind of things we cannot be part of our game how do you feel you come back to your former club and you
00:26:42go away with a 0.22 from a position that looked impossible for you at one stage fantastic brilliant
00:26:50the players how they reacted after the two goals was fantastic to compete like we did is the only way
00:26:57to take to get something here we take the point we we move forward stuff place to come um it's true
00:27:03they had many many chances but i think we we defend it with our bodies on the line and we did really
00:27:08well so i think in the end 2-2 is uh it's a good result for us you can see what it meant to you
00:27:13when you thought you'd won the game with the goal the shot that just flicked in off kai havers have
00:27:17you seen that since then yes i've seen it uh for one angle it doesn't for the other angle it does look
00:27:25like uh humble it's okay it's the decision is done we had many other chances that we could have
00:27:29put away without that goal but uh yeah it's a blow because obviously the energy comes up and
00:27:35a lot of relief and suddenly the goal is allowed yes arsenal lose ground uh to liverpool and given
00:27:42that they were two up and a lot of the talk has been about how they're not scoring from open play but
00:27:48it was at the other end of the pitch wasn't it really that they faltered yeah they had no william
00:27:52saliba in the squad today they had uh justin timber who's a right back playing center back and
00:27:57thomas party who's a center midfielder playing at right back and it cost them today uh there was
00:28:02two nil up in the game um and when they needed to see the game out they couldn't do it so this is
00:28:08this is aston villa's uh first goal aston villa have occupied the the back five as it is now with
00:28:13five players we've highlighted declan rice and then if you just look at uh justin timber who's
00:28:19pointing to the right and if i'm a center back now i want my midfielder to slide across maybe four or
00:28:25five yards to screen uh ramsey so then i don't have to go out and mark him as the play rolls on
00:28:31there's a diagonal pass out to dina if rice was over now timber wouldn't have to go all the way
00:28:37out of his slot in the middle of the pitch but as he does you would like you'd prefer rice to be in
00:28:43there so they're centrally uh solid part is now up against dean use one of the best crosses in the
00:28:48league he doesn't get close enough to stop the cross going in and then if you just look into
00:28:53the center of the pitch you've got marino and tielemans marino is goal side but tielemans gets
00:28:58the run on him and then it ends up in the goal but all of the above accumulates to this which is a
00:29:04fantastic goal from villa's point of view but if you're arsenal and you're in the lead that that's a
00:29:09really poor goal to concede now this is the second goal they're okay at this point that's the back
00:29:14four they're in a good shape we've highlighted party marking ollie watkins good great cross from matty cash
00:29:20party steps up for i'm not sure why the goalkeeper can't come and it's a really clever finish from
00:29:25ollie watkins so from arsenal's point of view i think anyone involved with arsenal right now feels
00:29:31like this fella in the stadium 15 minutes after the game just frustrated because it's this silly
00:29:36goals that the manager said it afterwards they're playing well but you can't concede goals like
00:29:40that you can see the points dropped from uh from winning positions more this season than last season
00:29:46and matches failed to win they've already equaled it so it's worrying but i feel like the the main
00:29:51problem was was no william saliba today just leading that back line yeah and players playing
00:29:55out of position as well um no doubt about the humble was the havertz it was let's clear that no it was the
00:30:01right decision it's it's that law as well isn't it that weirdly if you accidentally handball it and
00:30:06it goes in then from you directly yeah exactly i mean regardless things seem to be going against
00:30:12arson at the moment those little decisions and especially havertz he did score today and played
00:30:16quite well for arsenal were brilliant in certain parts of the game but can't seem to get over the
00:30:20line this is another angle of it at first there are angles where you're not sure but you could see
00:30:26even when he walked off talking to his teammate with his arm over his mouth saying he could this
00:30:31is this is clear the clearest one you'll see so yeah and and even after that they had another chance
00:30:36with it at the post they would they really give it a go but i agree with ash you know strength in
00:30:42depth lacking enough personnel to fill the holes that they've got at the moment and they've got a
00:30:46lot of problem a lot of injuries yeah it's going to be tough for them now it's going to be tough for
00:30:50anyone isn't it yeah liverpool yeah yeah yeah like i said because liverpool are so strong their squad's so
00:30:55strong it's so different to everyone else's yeah okay uh bournemouth fans face the longest away day
00:31:00in the league a 695 mile round trip to newcastle who were chasing a 10 straight win in all competitions
00:31:07guy mowbrick was at st james's park he's not only the talk of the tune right now alexander isak
00:31:13is the talk of the game and as he looks to score for a ninth premier league match in a row today
00:31:19newcastle could hit a new club record of 10 successive wins in all competitions they're
00:31:25unchanged injury ravaged bournemouth two changes as kepper returns in goal and justin cliver comes
00:31:31back in to start at one of his famous dad patrick's former clubs he's the cherries top scorer with eight
00:31:36goals six of them penalties more than any other entire team has scored in the premier league this season
00:31:42something's got to give today whether that's bournemouth's unbeaten run or newcastle's winning run
00:31:52time we've got to brooks brooks ball in it's a good one and the save from
00:31:55Dubravka what's two the follow-up is wild blazed over the top by semenyo
00:32:03it's a cracking ball into the box from brooks instinctive shot from watara and semenyo he
00:32:09maybe should have scored for a third game in a row
00:32:17very neat from bournemouth and another good ball semenyo is on the end of it good pullback as well
00:32:23and that one's in clivella with a brilliant finish
00:32:29bournemouth are in front and bournemouth have been absolutely brilliant right from kickoff
00:32:35that was a gorgeous goal the very small target he's got to aim at but it curls away from Dubravka
00:32:46neatly into the corner it's newcastle mill bournemouth one
00:32:50joe linton plays it across to semenyo's side and it's liberamento now to put the ball into the box
00:32:55headed by christie and it'll spin behind for a newcastle corner
00:33:04botman's bouncing in the box doesn't reach him
00:33:10gordon plays it against christie and now moves away so he's not going to take this one he's called for
00:33:17lewis hall to swing it in different newcastle set up for this one it's bruno gimaraj and it's in
00:33:28tries he might kepper couldn't keep it out
00:33:32bruno booms around st james's park the captain has leveled it up
00:33:37hall with the corner it was the perfect pick out of bruno gimaraj and just enough power
00:33:46on bruno's header to beat the glove of kepper who will feel he ought to have kept it out
00:33:5348 points last season bournemouth's best ever and they're already on 34 in this season what a job
00:34:00and donate iraiola is doing and has been doing
00:34:05gimaraj has been caught napping there through towards cliver and he's got another
00:34:11justin clivert's finishing drawn from the very top level today
00:34:18a mixed half a newcastle skipper robbed of the ball by the persistence of ryan christie here
00:34:25clivert's got one shot at that and it's perfectly placed past the bravka
00:34:33it's bournemouth two newcastle one at st james's park
00:34:40golden loses out as a barnye
00:34:43joe linton scraps to win it back no free kick that will be one for bournemouth and it'll draw a reaction
00:34:49too oh what's the referee gonna make of that it's joe linton and it's clivert
00:34:56arms up from both players joe linton was caught by david brooks to start with that's what sparked
00:35:03it then it was adams on gordon and then joe linton went full in
00:35:10steward atwell has managed to find tyler adams and he's booked him and he's booked joe linton
00:35:16i think clivert was booked as well to be honest i'm amazed we've gone this long without any cautions
00:35:22there's been a fair bit of fire in the match
00:35:29in from hall it'll fall for tonali and it's saved by kappa
00:35:34and there's no time for anything else for newcastle
00:35:37and the half ends with bournemouth in the lead
00:35:44a slip from dubravka allowed dominic celanke to score for bournemouth in this fixture last season
00:35:51that finished 2-2 newcastle equalized twice so there might be a slight case of deja vu unless bournemouth
00:35:58score a third they're looking good for it now it's off the post and here's brooks saved by
00:36:02dobravka clivert back in volley clear by tonali but it's not gone far this is adams
00:36:12such a heavy bournemouth presence in the box there's watara and it is 3-1 the bournemouth players celebrate a
00:36:20third goal eddie howe won't be aware just at the moment but there is a check going on to see whether the
00:36:26ball went out of play in the builder this will give us a clue
00:36:35ball already out before tonali gave it the big boot away so clay will restart with the score still 2-1
00:36:43and here's semenyo semenyo across the box and dubravka oh it's in the post did he get anything on it
00:37:02semenyo's ball in it was met by brooks livermento got something on it too
00:37:07and dubravka somehow got down but that was going to strike the inside of the post and go in
00:37:13gordon tonali not close enough to willock but he's done well enough with it
00:37:20then lewis cook goes into the challenge free kick
00:37:25doesn't get any of the ball
00:37:26there comes the free kick
00:37:36kepa is a belaga away and that's drilled back in gordon hit that ferociously
00:37:42gordon watching it all the way and it came off house and shoulder
00:37:46gordon giving away to adams here's cliver cliver shot he's got his hat-trick
00:37:58what a day for justin clivert what a day for afc bournemouth they've been magnificent from kickoff
00:38:08it was gordon who gave it away adams with the pass to clivert who set his sights straight away
00:38:14and the finishing form he's been in all afternoon you just expected him to score
00:38:20dead eye newcastle united one bournemouth three christie
00:38:28and here's jefferson who got a yellow card in the aftermath of the third goal for over celebrating
00:38:34he might be celebrating again in a minute he's on to make it four but he can't because
00:38:38debravka flaps a hand in his way four and a half minutes of injury time have been played two and a
00:38:47half to go here's isaac who's barely had a go at goal i don't think he has had a go at goal yet
00:38:53now willock saved by arisa balaga and blocked on the line house and dropping back as if to underline
00:39:02that this will only be bournemouth's day clivert who is still absolutely full of it look at the space
00:39:11here for kerkish
00:39:14he lost kerkash goes on it's four
00:39:21the final flourish on one of bournemouth's best ever premier league away days
00:39:25a finish for the fullback every bit as good as those scored by the hat-trick hero his 50th game
00:39:34in the premier league only his second goal in it but it's four for bournemouth on tyneside their
00:39:41longest trip of the season well worth every mile
00:39:46you've had some very good away days in the premier league even this season but
00:39:51in the circumstances with just 11 senior players fit does does that go up there with the best
00:39:56it's difficult to find a better one i think it's very difficult because considering you know
00:40:01how thin we came to this game i think everyone has has played his part and and a bit a little bit more and
00:40:08as a manager you feel really proud you know you also very young players the center backs milos
00:40:14uh having to deal with very louis cook out of position having to deal against top players
00:40:21i think they've been fantastic just felt there was fatigue in our performance today i think you can
00:40:25see that right from the start we started slowly um we didn't ever play with the intensity that we
00:40:31normally do we were off in almost every phase um so from the highs of recent weeks to the low of today
00:40:38yeah i'll put that down to physically right now i don't think we ever had control of that game today i
00:40:42think bournemouth did and we have to acknowledge that and be honest and say we need to do better
00:40:47the name climate's well known at this ground yeah but on the other side what will be said after this
00:40:54yeah i heard i had more goals than him here already so uh that is one win over him
00:40:59no but you know it's nice to come here you know i've been uh also to newcastle when i was younger and
00:41:05yeah my dad played here so it's always nice it feels a bit different to come here for sure and uh
00:41:08uh yeah unfortunately for both for them now the clive it plays for our team yeah yeah he's dad man
00:41:16he's one goal in 10 games so he's got he got a hat-trick in that in that one performance and there's a
00:41:21the um post put out earlier today on social media that the uh bournemouth supporters coach left at 2 14
00:41:29a.m for the early kickoff uh i think the trip was probably worth it what a fabulous performance from
00:41:34bournemouth wonderful incredible as good and away performances i've seen gary and um for a few
00:41:40reasons you know they they've got nine first team players injured they played against a team who's
00:41:46brilliant at home and won nine of nine out of nine nine in a row um and they also did a high press
00:41:53brave tactical plan against arguably the quickest front three in the premier league
00:41:58i mean it seems crazy but it worked and every one of them was at it straight from the minute one
00:42:04this is the risk i'm talking about there's the four against the four man to man all over the
00:42:09pitch and the trigger was as soon as the keeper plays to the center off they're flying in but this
00:42:14takes discipline communication and a lot of hard work but it's not just winning the ball back it's the
00:42:19quality they possess with those injuries i'm talking about when they got the ball back brooks was
00:42:24outstanding watara didn't non-stop i mean i don't even know semenyo's missed that but that's that's
00:42:28the warning early on same again became a very consistent theme they've worked on it
00:42:34gone after them trusting the defenders to cope one-on-one win the ball back early and then
00:42:39forward quickly got lots of pace lots of creativity christian lucky there should have been a corner
00:42:46and to get the second goal this is this is where they get the second because set the traps
00:42:51soon as it goes center-half two of them fly out the team's nice and high the back players are up
00:42:57trusting themselves again christy who's i think he's had a wonderful season absolutely outstanding
00:43:03can you find the right pass lovely finish from cliver and their confidence just grew even in the
00:43:08second half there's christy at it again and the willingness to running behind with that pace i'm
00:43:15talking about they tried to make some changes newcastle but it didn't really affect the momentum of
00:43:19the game brooks is really unlucky there and they could have scored more this is this is probably
00:43:23the best clip for me look the 90th minute they're winning yeah out of possession shape look how high
00:43:31they are but safe in terms of their numbers but still willing to try and pin newcastle in and if
00:43:36they do lose the ball which they do they're ready to jump and get it again instead of retreating like
00:43:41we see so many teams away from home protecting what they've got nice and positive and what a goal to get
00:43:46your hat bang yeah um you know he was best player on the pitch and this isn't a one-off we can see
00:43:54from the numbers here gary i mean it's incredible what he's done this this this manager um high
00:44:00turnovers third in the league uh possession one their interceptions their goal ending high
00:44:06turn by that press though isn't it that they've got all done by that but but as i said before it's the
00:44:12quality with the ball when you win it back that's most impressive and isaac who's been in electric
00:44:16form didn't get a shot until i think the 85th minute of the game and that's testament to bournemouth's
00:44:22defense and particularly the central defenders actually yeah howson and zabani and all that what danny
00:44:27just said is only they can only do that because they're so confident in what they've got in the
00:44:31back and also with the fullbacks um kirk kirk and cook were excellent but you see howson goes out here
00:44:38and then zabani's just in in the middle of the goal it seems very simple but it's not it's the
00:44:43art of defending house and brave strong steps out and then like danny said calm in possession starts
00:44:49his team off on the attack again really impressed with them today in the in the correct position
00:44:54against isaac defense in the middle of the goal not a problem clearing the space they play together
00:45:00really well they've got seemed like they've got good communication this time it's zabani
00:45:04and and newcastle couldn't create anything isaac must be really frustrated i like this house and
00:45:09slips who's there to cover him his mate that's a center-half pairing that you know work together
00:45:15well keeper comes and punches somebody might say he's just in the right place at the right time but
00:45:21that is proper defending that that's saving your team a goal again here we've just highlighted
00:45:26housing and if you keep your eye on him this is as good as a goal for a defender from a foot from a
00:45:32former defender we celebrate things like that you like the gloves short-sleeved and the small
00:45:37shin pad i'm not a fan of that so much but if they perform like that they can wear what they want
00:45:41yeah brilliant you're not that old you're not an old time and i can't bad day for alan shearer
00:45:46in newcastle getting hammered i haven't heard from him have you and no particularly since harland
00:45:50signed a nine and a half year contract he's worried about his record four games in match of the day two
00:45:55five live premier league sunday will be across the action from midday

00:48:20fulham have won their last two visits here to the king power and three of their last four
00:48:25one by james justin those goals tend to come in two so he got two in the fa cup last weekend
00:48:33the win over queens park rangers also got two goals against arsson in september
00:48:42ayu
00:48:46as a kept to play it wasn't by fulham captain anthony robinson
00:48:49inside the opening seconds it's a quarter kick opportunity for leicester
00:49:00it's a flick onto the front post fardy i think got a touch fast tries to nod it back forward towards
00:49:04the goal and it was jokim anderson who tried to clear not fully leicester with the chance down goes
00:49:10are you what a save well jordan ayu is appealing he was fouled before he got that shot away
00:49:19instant reaction though from burnt letter
00:49:23full of didn't score in their first premier league away game this season back in august but they have
00:49:28found the net on all premier league journeys since then
00:49:31are you barney's made a good one that we see on the side jamie barney anderson in pursuit
00:49:42came awkwardly off castanje so close to being an own goal
00:49:47never did he was the target but just stanje for a moment felt he was going to put it into his own net
00:49:52today his ninth premier league game in charge it's been six defeats from eight for rude van
00:49:59isteroy so far
00:50:02never didi to el cadous
00:50:10it's the answer
00:50:15again to christianson
00:50:16it's a great run this what a call that could have been
00:50:23the danish left back who's never scored for leicester
00:50:28that would have been special had it fell the back of the net
00:50:32he just couldn't tuck it into that bottom corner
00:50:37just stand yet it's a good ball for el jimenez
00:50:41robinson's arriving
00:50:45to his right maybe sander berger
00:50:49lenez wilson it's so congested
00:50:53can bassi get a shot away close
00:50:56full of are beginning to rack up the chances here
00:51:00let's just any connections in the past he'd have loved a goal here with the king power
00:51:05he wasn't far away at all
00:51:06time approaching and marcus silver will feel that his team are now creating the better chances
00:51:15really good first touch
00:51:19gets out to wilson's pass he's been able to bundle sumari out of the way
00:51:23this is emil smith roe alex iwobi just took too long
00:51:27robinson following up into the side netting
00:51:31well the biggest chance there might well have been for alex iwobi
00:51:36iwobi wasn't able to get the shot away quickly enough
00:51:39and the last gasp damped anthony robinson tried to fire it in
00:51:43iwobi was back helping out james justin
00:51:48goes out for a full of throw
00:51:49it is no one picking up harry wilson here
00:52:02pan stalker in front of him luka just close followed it bravely by emil smith roe
00:52:08on his 100th premier league appearance the former arsenal man gives fulham the lead
00:52:16scored with these sides met at craven cottage in august
00:52:20this is only his third premier league goal since then bravely throwing his face in knowing that he
00:52:25could collide with the goalkeeper brilliant start to the second half for marcus silver and fulham
00:52:32it's a great burst this sumari goes down to the penalty area but referee michael salisbury says no
00:52:50spot kick does jokim anderson foul sumari can understand why rud van listoy is thinking there's
00:52:58at least a chance there
00:53:04really would fear for leicester if they were to go 2-0 down here at home
00:53:07one goal deficit there's always a chance
00:53:11are you
00:53:13walk with the off calvin bassi down goes jamie bardie are you following up couldn't keep it down
00:53:19big chance for leicester
00:53:22children are you looking for his sixth goal since joining leicester city
00:53:26every so slightly unbalanced as it came to him couldn't get the shot on target
00:53:43wilson's made a great run outside him here is emil smith roe
00:53:46fulham looking for a second it's adama traore it is 2-0
00:53:54his second premier league goal of the season and leicester are in big trouble now
00:54:02sweeping flowing move from fulham this will very much please marco silva nobody marking him
00:54:09it's still needed an adept touch rud van listoy be disappointed to give that goal away
00:54:19the locals are restless the reaction from leicester city fans has not been of a positive nature in this
00:54:24second half they're really disappointed rud van listoy said that the game against
00:54:28palace in midweek was a low ebb this might feel even lower
00:54:37lukic releases in the middle this is aimed towards him this can seal it
00:54:43fulham so close to their third goal of the day leicester looking tired now looking down and
00:54:48out they look in big big trouble leicester city nil full of two
00:54:54fulham deserve to win in all parts of football
00:54:59we weren't we weren't good enough today in all in all facets of the game so that that's a clear and
00:55:04hard conclusion does this feel though a low point for you since you've arrived yeah this is the one
00:55:10because i thought we we lacked in in in all areas and and that's that's a big blow good bravery for
00:55:18your finish for the goal you're sticking your face in danger yeah yeah it's actually my first prime
00:55:22header to be fair so yeah delighted and the boys have been giving me a bit of stick and training because
00:55:26my head in but yeah i can laugh at them now so i'm happy and after the game i spoke to the fulham head
00:55:32coach marco silva marco another victory you're eight points better off now than you were at this stage
00:55:41last season what are you building at fulham here do you think uh gary and frankly speaking we should
00:55:47have more much more points to be honest with you of course the players they have been um great the way
00:55:53with the mindset always ready to learn and to open mind to to receive always the information and the
00:55:58feedback from ourselves and it's being a very good journey for us we we are in the position that has
00:56:03to make the the the fans proud uh we are going to fight for more definitely because we are a real
00:56:08ambition group of guys and myself is the way i look for football we've seen clubs like bournemouth
00:56:14nottingham forest fulham this season challenging the elite a little bit more than perhaps in the past
00:56:21why do you think that's happening the reality that i think we have been showing and the clubs that you
00:56:26you mentioned too that we we go for any game to be competitive to match the the opposition to
00:56:32embrace the challenge that is ahead of us we don't change nothing uh regarding the the opposition or
00:56:37the game that is more difficult or not what is our identity what is our philosophy and the players they
00:56:42believe really on it and you have met you have to make them to trust more and more because we trust
00:56:46on ourselves and our quality and depending after in the game we don't lose any games before they start
00:56:52but we don't win two and you have to go and to play the game with the same ambition than all the other
00:56:56teams what's your ambition this season marco what's your target um i mentioned from the the beginning
00:57:03of the season that is clear we we have to do better than last season we have to finish on the top half
00:57:08of the table it's going to be a big fight and when you you you target the top top half of the table you
00:57:13can fight for many different things and of course everybody mentioned the europe you are going to fight
00:57:17really hard to go higher on the table and if you can reach the the the european spots we are going
00:57:22to fight for it well thanks very much for talking to us mark i wish you continued success for the
00:57:26rest of the season thank you thank you thank you get it thank you bye-bye did i hide my sadness there
00:57:31did i did i managed to do it uh let's give let's give um deserve credit to fulham um played really well
00:57:38and you've picked out sander burger yeah i think that he goes under the radar a little bit we talk a lot
00:57:43about how good fulham have been this man's come back into the to the team after missing the last
00:57:48four games and i thought he was excellent all day this this sets the tone that's just it's just a
00:57:53great midfield play and as a center back he's the type of center midfielder that you want in front of
00:57:59of you getting into those holes filling spaces uh interceptions just doing the dirty work and as i
00:58:05say we talk a lot about iwobi wilson pereira smith rowe the flair players in in that team they can't do
00:58:11that without this man doing things like that and it seems very simple but he's happy to just being
00:58:17that that uh the midfield of fulham and just breaking up play today there was so many times
00:58:23he stopped leicester's counter-attacks regained possession for fulham and then he just plays it
00:58:28simple gives it to players in in more attacking positions and starts play again for them so i
00:58:34personally think that he had an excellent game and he goes under the radar a lot uh palina last season
00:58:40yeah well i think the biggest thing we can say about him is that they haven't really missed pauline
00:58:44yeah he was he was such an amazing player for them so and i know dan he's so good in possession as
00:58:49well which we didn't see in there i i think yeah he's got a lovely balance to his game i've seen him
00:58:53a couple of times live this season and he's very elegant on the ball in tight situations and these
00:58:57stats are great when you play midfield exactly what you want especially in that disciplined holding
00:59:01role but he is he's got a bit of both been a big signing for them leicester were poor really poor
00:59:08they were they've actually gone for home games um without scoring and that hasn't happened since 1983
00:59:15when i missed the gary linico was playing oh we lost the first seven games of the season stayed up i
00:59:19think i scored 23 was that the longest you ever won without 23 that season 23 yeah it's all right yeah just
00:59:26missed out on golden boot say who righty i can't remember uh graham potter got his first win as
00:59:32west ham boss against fulham crystal palace arrived at the london stadium with just one defeat in their
00:59:37last ten simon brotherton was watching a second home match in the space of a few days for new manager
00:59:43graham potter with west ham looking to win back-to-back league games for the first time all season
00:59:48to do so they'll have to get the better of a crystal palace side who've won three of their last four on the
00:59:53road west ham make one change from midweek with aaron cresswell coming in for his first start of the
00:59:58season in a reshuffled back line carlos solaire drops to the bench with injuries up front limiting
01:00:04options lucas paquetta has stepped up scoring in each of the last two matches crystal palace are
01:00:10unbeaten in the last six away from selhurst park oliver glasner is without the services of jefferson
01:00:15lerma in midfield so start stage chikamada instead jean-philippe mateta has scored in each of the
01:00:21last two premier league games against chelsea and at leicester on wednesday
01:00:28graham potter didn't manage to get the better of crystal palace in any of his
01:00:32six games in charge of brighton but did win the last two meetings while he was at chelsea a couple
01:00:37of seasons ago
01:00:38munoz sending it forward now and here's jean-philippe mateta and it's a really good save there from
01:00:49wukash fabianski
01:00:54thomas tuchel watching on from the stands his first two matches in charge of england coming up in march
01:00:59the opening two world cup qualifiers palace actually haven't kept consecutive clean sheets under
01:01:07oliver glasner in the league they last did so when roy hodgson was in charge in the autumn of 2023
01:01:15mateta
01:01:18crystal palace free kick
01:01:19and mavropanos gets a yellow card
01:01:29richards
01:01:32off the boot of la croix and on by smilessar as a plays it forward this is jean-philippe mateta
01:01:40up against kilman tees it up and finds the bottom of the net
01:01:44it's a super strike from jean-philippe mateta who scores for the third league match in a row
01:01:51brilliantly set up the flicked header from ismail assar and the pass from ibera as a
01:01:59real quality from crystal palace mateta picked his spot and sent the ball beyond the despairing dive of
01:02:06wukash fabianski perfect start to the second half for crystal palace
01:02:15only one defeat for crystal palace since the 9th of november just over two months ago
01:02:20it was a heavy one 5-1 against the arsenal at home but their results have greatly improved
01:02:27kudos up against tyreek mitchell who was backed up by mark gay it's a corner for west ham
01:02:37and shortly to head into the last 20 minutes of the game
01:02:43aimed towards kilman falls at the feet of mavropanos here's inges who can't find a way through so many
01:02:49yellow shirts in the way back with inges again
01:02:54orford sending it into alvarez goal kick well we haven't seen too much activity from west ham in
01:03:02the crystal palace penalty area this afternoon but there was certainly plenty here
01:03:06but on this occasion they just couldn't find a way through to an equalizer crystal palace making
01:03:12uh a change now with the bearer eze leaving the field to be replaced by eddie and ketia who had
01:03:1910 minutes during the week in the match at leicester and he'll get a little bit longer than that today
01:03:27forward by munoz into mateta who's got and ketia running ahead of him it's and ketia with his first
01:03:33touch round the keeper but fabianski has the final say it looked for a moment there as if uh eddie and ketia
01:03:40was going to make a sensational entry into the game as deveny's shot is saved
01:03:47west ham survived what for them was a worrisome moment here and ketia straight off the bench into
01:03:52the thick of the action they lack real quality up front west ham of course and uh from their
01:03:59point of view the sooner jared bowen is fit again and backing the team the better
01:04:02be a free kick here and a yellow card for constantinos mavropanos and it is his second yellow of the match
01:04:18and he knew it straight away you could tell from the look on his face
01:04:21and graham potter's team behind and now down to 10 for the final 10 or 11 minutes of the game
01:04:32west ham with the possession scarles
01:04:36needs to be a good delivery it's beyond tyreek mitchell and kudus kalexi
01:04:40diving header away from hughes really important interception by him scarles bursting forward good
01:04:51play by oliver scarles but lacroix there for crystal palace who stay resolute at the back
01:04:59no free kick for the challenge on kilman and mateta now looks to break
01:05:02john philippe mateta still carrying it support arriving he's looking for in ketia who chases
01:05:10hard and is challenged by fabianski and crystal palace have got a penalty in the 87th minute
01:05:18west ham caught on the counter and fabianski fully committed connecting with eddie and ketia it was
01:05:27mateta the scorer of the only goal so far trying to set up his teammate here
01:05:31and fabianski clearly takes the player rather than the ball
01:05:36it's jean-philippe mateta against wukash fabianski
01:05:40this to complete the job surely inside the last two minutes of the 90 oh he's just got it in
01:05:46fabianski so close to keeping it out but two goal mateta fires crystal palace to a london derby win
01:05:55at west ham graham potter with plenty to ponder west ham united nil crystal palace two
01:06:04we scored the goals in the right moments straight after half time with a great goal and the build up
01:06:09and then the the run in behind we could have done a little bit more in the first half but i think we
01:06:13controlled the game the players huffed and puffed and wasn't through a lack of effort necessarily it was
01:06:19just more the intensity to play the intensity to press the intensity to show our quality we weren't
01:06:25able to do that and we're disappointed with that but today's a day that we we have to accept in terms
01:06:30of where we're at at the moment and um we have to learn we have to stick together and we have to try
01:06:34to improve a word about your striker who's in such great form at the moment john philippe lateta
01:06:39it's his job to score goals and and he's doing excellent and he's important for our dressing room
01:06:43because he's a lovely guy always in a good mood sometimes too good but it's better in this way
01:06:49than in the opposite how can you be too good a mood i don't know he should be at the moment look at that
01:06:55since uh well the last 12 months more or less um he's right aware with the top boys and two more for
01:07:01him today slow start to the season actually for him um but you have to remember of course he played
01:07:05in the olympics which went right through to the final with franz yeah and i think he came back tired
01:07:10but he's in great form at the minute this was early on in the game uh running ahead of the ball and you
01:07:15see his confidence he gets his shot off straight away uh i like this one because he's good center
01:07:20forward play hold up play brings his players in his other players into the game uh and katia probably
01:07:27should do a little bit better there but he led the line really well for crystal palace again today
01:07:32he's so powerful um when he gets on the move here you see for a big guy he can shift really well
01:07:38and then you know he's afforded a little bit too much time but it's a really good finish
01:07:43from him and then he drops deep as i say the power the power that he runs with it's just difficult to
01:07:48to play against he'd be such a handful and then that this is that's quality the timing of that pass
01:07:53and and ketia wins the penalty and then he's got the confidence mateta to step up it's not the
01:07:58greatest penalty in the world i'm sure lukas fabianski would be a bit disappointed it snuck in
01:08:03yeah but he's having a great season great time sorry actually danny but before we go let's have
01:08:07a quick look at the premier league table liverpool have increased their lead at the top of the table
01:08:12to six points for the game in hand after they won and arsenal were pegged back uh newcastle stay fourth
01:08:17despite losing to bournemouth who are now in the top six uh leicester the only club at the bottom of the
01:08:22table to play so far this weekend stay in the relegation zone after their defeat by fulham
01:08:26crystal palace move up to 12th after their win over west ham who slipped to 14th uh that's it
01:08:33just in time to give bournemouth the closing line he's hat-trick cliver goodbye
