00:00:30CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
00:00:40Four games on tonight's match of the day, too,
00:00:42as well as all the goals from yesterday.
00:00:44Farrah Williams and Leon Osman are with us.
00:00:47David Moyes' Everton homecoming didn't go to plan
00:00:50against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
00:00:52Today, Tottenham with the visitors to Goodison.
00:00:54Commentator is Martin Fisher.
00:01:00Two famous clubs, but today it's a bottom-six clash
00:01:04between two struggling clubs.
00:01:06Just one Premier League win each since the start of December,
00:01:10and that is a combined total of 17 games.
00:01:14David Moyes has made two alterations
00:01:16to the side that started that match with Villa.
00:01:19A full Premier League debut for Irish international Jake O'Brien,
00:01:23and Jesper Lindström comes in on the right.
00:01:26Spurs also show a couple of changes after their defeat,
00:01:29at Arsenal.
00:01:31James Madison returns to make his 50th Premier League appearance
00:01:34for the club.
00:01:35Ben Davies back after a two-month absence
00:01:37with a hamstring strain.
00:01:39Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson
00:01:41the latest additions to Tottenham's lengthy injury list.
00:01:45Six teenagers on their bench, by the way.
00:01:47History firmly on the side of Spurs in this one.
00:01:55Everton have only managed one Premier League win in the last 24 meetings,
00:02:00and even that was away.
00:02:01Good persistence by Lindström, and Everton have got it back.
00:02:07Here's the Dame once more, worth a shot from there!
00:02:09And brings a good save out of Kinski.
00:02:11Well, it all started from the tenacious work from Lindström,
00:02:17and Kinski at full stretch to prevent him from getting his first goal in Everton Blue.
00:02:26This is Saar, that's a bit loose.
00:02:29Lindström, who started so brightly.
00:02:31Clever dummy by Mangala.
00:02:33Gay takes over.
00:02:34Through here for Calvert-Lewin.
00:02:35Surrounded by Spurs-Shirk,
00:02:37and what a finish that is!
00:02:38Dominic Calvert-Lewin puts Everton in front,
00:02:43and his 16-game goal drought is over.
00:02:48Well, he knows better than most that if he can get this fella scoring goals,
00:02:52Everton will steadily climb away from the danger zone.
00:02:56You can only wonder how much of a battering his confidence
00:03:00has taken in recent months, in recent seasons,
00:03:04but this was a quality finish.
00:03:06It started with Lindström.
00:03:09Gay took over, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin here
00:03:12with three Spurs players, if not four, around him.
00:03:15Bamboozles them with his speedy footwork,
00:03:18and it's a tidy finish.
00:03:20No need for power, just shoves it into the right-hand corner
00:03:24of the goalkeeper's goal.
00:03:26Everton in front.
00:03:28Familiar feeling for Ange Postacoglu.
00:03:34Spurs behind and not playing well.
00:03:40Pedro Poro, Kuliszewski, is in behind Gaye,
00:03:42Son waits in the middle, here he is!
00:03:44Had to do better, had to do better.
00:03:49It's a comfortable save in the end from Jordan Pickford.
00:03:52Had time for a touch but was trying to whip it into that bottom corner,
00:03:55it's far too close to the keeper.
00:03:57And more frustration for Ange.
00:04:00And Jai beautifully away from Sartre.
00:04:02Calvert-Lewin, Mangala!
00:04:04Against the post off the goalkeeper's touch.
00:04:06Lindström back in, up goes Calvert-Lewin!
00:04:10And Kinski with the save.
00:04:16Playing some really good stuff today, Everton.
00:04:19Fingertip save from Kinski onto the post.
00:04:22What a warrior he was in his heyday.
00:04:32Nicely worked by Everton.
00:04:34And it's Anjai bearing down on Dragasin.
00:04:36Lovely footwork.
00:04:38And a tidy finish!
00:04:40Well, they've not cheered like this at Goodison for quite some time.
00:04:46How they're enjoying the occasion.
00:04:53And he's milking the applause, and why not?
00:04:56Lovely build-up play once more from the home side.
00:05:01In behind Spurs midfield.
00:05:04And Anjai backing himself to run at Dragasin.
00:05:08And then lifts it powerfully over the head of Kinski.
00:05:13Oh, the good day is coming back under their former manager.
00:05:17Now back in the office.
00:05:27Spence just showing a bit of frustration there,
00:05:29has conceded a needless free kick.
00:05:32Problems mounting once more for Anj, Postakoglu and Tottenham.
00:05:39And with bad results come pressure.
00:05:41And Daniel Levy is not renowned particularly for his patience.
00:05:45In by Lindström.
00:05:50And the header brilliantly saved by Kinski.
00:05:52Tarkovsky it was, who's stooped to steer it on target.
00:05:58Good block by Kinski.
00:05:59It was, I suppose, straight at him, but good reflexes all the same.
00:06:02Maybe Tarkovsky could have done better.
00:06:04Lindström.
00:06:11That's another corner.
00:06:13Poor delivery by Lindström.
00:06:16Invited to try again by Michelenko.
00:06:18Deeper this time.
00:06:19Tarkovsky is hovering.
00:06:20Back in the middle.
00:06:21And it's a goal!
00:06:22I think the final touch was off Archie Gray.
00:06:23But it's 3-0 Aberton and Tarkovsky will get the bulk of the credit
00:06:25for his header back across the face of goal.
00:06:26And it's 3-0.
00:06:27And it's 3-0.
00:06:28And it's 3-0.
00:06:29And Tarkovsky will get the bulk of the credit for his header back across the face of goal.
00:06:30And it's 3-0.
00:06:31And it's 3-0.
00:06:32And Tarkovsky is hovering.
00:06:33Back in the middle.
00:06:34And it's a goal!
00:06:35I think the final touch was off Archie Gray.
00:06:38But it's 3-0.
00:06:39And Tarkovsky will get the bulk of the credit for his header back across the face of goal.
00:06:45And Gray couldn't get his feet right.
00:06:48And this is unbelievable given Everton's recent form.
00:06:53And there are Everton fans around us rubbing their eyes in disbelief.
00:06:57Sadly for Postacoglu, it's all too predictable.
00:07:01Their defensive shortcomings once more being brutally exposed.
00:07:06It's 3-0, Everton.
00:07:17Calvert-Lewis.
00:07:18On for N'Jai.
00:07:21Decorey is back post unmarked if N'Jai can get his head up and see him.
00:07:25Instead it's back here for Michelenko.
00:07:31Would have been a bit of a collector's item had the Ukrainians found the net there.
00:07:37Hasn't scored for well over a year in the Premier League.
00:07:40It sounds crazy.
00:07:41Everton are 3-up with half an hour to go.
00:07:43But there will be Evertonians inside the ground.
00:07:46A little bit scared that they're not home and dry yet.
00:07:48They might be now.
00:07:49Calvert-Lewis!
00:07:50He's put it wide.
00:07:53I have to say, he could have had a hat-trick today.
00:07:55He still might.
00:07:58It's a bit sloppy.
00:07:59It's more than a bit sloppy by Spurs at the back.
00:08:01Lins them onto it quickly.
00:08:02And Calvert-Lewis just trying to hook it in.
00:08:04Well, the Spurs fans not happy, obviously, but the champ is we want Levy out rather than the manager.
00:08:15They might want both, of course, but the champ was certainly about the man upstairs.
00:08:20Kulusevski forward for Sonners now down that right-hand side.
00:08:24He's looking for Maddison.
00:08:27Lovely footwork from him and he's found Mikey Moore.
00:08:30Kulusevski scores!
00:08:33Beautiful finish by Kulusevski.
00:08:36And Spurs are on the score sheet at last.
00:08:41But is it far too late?
00:08:44Well, it started with that lovely touch from Richarlison and then this is more like it from Spurs.
00:08:50Son's ball forward, Maddison onside.
00:08:52He had the intelligence not to try and shoot from there, instead picked out Mikey Moore.
00:08:57But nobody could deal with that delightful chip from Dejan Kulusevski.
00:09:02And all Spurs need now is another two.
00:09:08Now Son can come left for Moore.
00:09:13Faced by Paterson.
00:09:14And it's off the Everton defenders and behind for the corner.
00:09:23Got to get a move on Tottenham, it's Son, it's Moore.
00:09:28Dangerous ball in!
00:09:29And they've got another one back.
00:09:32Richarlison, on his return to Goodison Park, makes it 3-2.
00:09:38But there's a glimmer, a glimmer of hope for Tottenham Hotspur.
00:09:41Well, full marks for Mikey Moore, the 17-year-old.
00:09:44He's made a big difference since coming on.
00:09:46It's a great ball in.
00:09:47Everton defended like statues.
00:09:50And Richarlison never gave it up at the back post.
00:09:54It's 3-2.
00:09:55Oh, they're biting their nails, they cannot watch this.
00:10:01And listen to the roar around Goodison.
00:10:06David Moyes has his first Everton win since returning here.
00:10:10It should have been more comfortable than it was in the end.
00:10:12As Ange Costa-Coglou's Tottenham fought right to the end.
00:10:17But it's another defeat for them.
00:10:19And this season needs to improve quickly.
00:10:22Final score, Goodison.
00:10:24Everton 3, Spurs 2.
00:10:30Ange, familiar story.
00:10:32What are your assessments of that performance, please?
00:10:35Familiar story?
00:10:37Well, in terms of defeat.
00:10:39OK, great way to start an interview.
00:10:42Yeah, look, it was a tough result for us.
00:10:44And, you know, we were obviously first half,
00:10:47we struggled to get control of the game.
00:10:48Obviously, you know, made some changes in the team
00:10:50that probably weren't helpful in the end.
00:10:53Players kind of struggled to come to terms with it.
00:10:55Everton capitalised on it.
00:10:57The second half, you know, the players, you know,
00:11:01put in the right response and, yeah, credit to them.
00:11:04But we obviously fell short.
00:11:05The position we're in, getting over the line in the games
00:11:07is the most important thing.
00:11:08You can talk about the best style you want,
00:11:10but getting the three points is really what we need to do.
00:11:13I actually thought we played well today.
00:11:14We scored a terrific goal,
00:11:15really good bit of play to score.
00:11:18Might have been the second goal.
00:11:19But overall, I think getting the three points
00:11:22will give us a lot of confidence.
00:11:23I can tell in the dressing room.
00:11:24I thought it was a wee bit unlike us to concede goals
00:11:26because in the main we're quite strong defensively.
00:11:29Lovely.
00:11:30But again, you mustn't take it away from what Tottenham can do.
00:11:32Tottenham can beat just about any team on their day
00:11:35and thankfully we stopped them.
00:11:39Three points, three goals.
00:11:41You can't stop smiling all afternoon.
00:11:44They were at it, weren't they?
00:11:46Yeah.
00:11:47I mean, typical Everton made it close at the end,
00:11:49you know, being an Evertonian.
00:11:50But yeah, they were at it all afternoon long.
00:11:52Absolutely.
00:11:53They started brilliantly.
00:11:54I mean, you know, I think quite often in the Premier League,
00:11:57Everton have sat off the opponents
00:11:59and allowed them to get going.
00:12:01But not today.
00:12:02Right from the first whistle,
00:12:03they were in the faces of this Tottenham Hotspur team.
00:12:07Exactly what David Moyes had wanted.
00:12:08A fast start in the game.
00:12:10Lindstrom starting the press on this occasion.
00:12:13Drissa Gay following up Calvert-Lewin.
00:12:15So often, Everton have waited for things to happen.
00:12:17But today, you see Decorey breaking from midfield.
00:12:19If you're going to press,
00:12:20your defenders have to press behind you.
00:12:22You have to be brave enough to be man-for-man at the back.
00:12:24But I thought the balance was really good.
00:12:27You see a spin from Kuliszewski.
00:12:28Brantley has to drop away.
00:12:29Suddenly, Son looks like he's got space.
00:12:31No.
00:12:32Tarkovsky's pressing in there.
00:12:33So is Idrissa Gay and Everton,
00:12:35and win the free kick.
00:12:37And Lindstrom was asked to do a bit of a hybrid role today.
00:12:40He was a right-winger in possession,
00:12:42a right-wing back out of possession.
00:12:44And I thought it was his best game.
00:12:46It allowed him to press.
00:12:47It allowed him to get on the board.
00:12:48It allowed him to be a real part in what Everton did positively.
00:12:52And Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting the press there.
00:12:55He's had big criticism this season for not scoring goals.
00:12:58But his all-round work rate's been great.
00:12:59And helping start that press,
00:13:01you get turnovers,
00:13:02you win the ball back in really high positions.
00:13:04And now Everton only need to make one or two passes
00:13:06to create an opportunity.
00:13:07They do.
00:13:08Dominic Calvert-Lewin was like a man with a new lease of life today.
00:13:11And David Moyes delighted with the way his team started.
00:13:14And you can see,
00:13:16I mean, those stats are quite startling, really,
00:13:20in the improvement today over their season average.
00:13:23Yeah, I mean, massive improvements.
00:13:25You can see here.
00:13:26I think the chances created was the biggest standout for me.
00:13:29And I think Leon mentioned it there.
00:13:31I think the energy that Everton started with, the connections,
00:13:33one went and everybody seemed to follow.
00:13:35And I think that set a trend right from the off.
00:13:37And, yeah, really impressive performance from Everton today.
00:13:39Well, because they've won,
00:13:41you ain't sharing your Everton analysis with anybody, are you?
00:13:44So you're going to...
00:13:46It's all mine this evening.
00:13:48Oh, no.
00:13:49Yeah, look at the tactical battle then
00:13:51and how Everton won that.
00:13:52Yeah, well, you know, I think going into this game,
00:13:54Everton, it's very rare having played a back four,
00:13:57a back five under anyone, wasn't Sean Dyche's strength.
00:14:00But today they did that.
00:14:02And what it allowed was Everton to thicken up the middle of the pitch.
00:14:05Him in and die, come off the wide areas where he's been very good,
00:14:09but he's not been able to be at his best offensively.
00:14:11He then joined in the middle.
00:14:12Yeah, Everton remained that solidity,
00:14:14especially the first half that they've had all season long.
00:14:17But what it allowed was Tarkovsky stepped in there.
00:14:19They had an extra centre-half.
00:14:21Jake O'Brien, who's certainly not had enough football
00:14:23since joining Everton in the summer, stepping in there.
00:14:25And yet, having bodies in the middle to force Spurs wide.
00:14:28But do they get across into the penalty area?
00:14:30Absolutely not.
00:14:31Michalenko, on this occasion, stopping the cross coming in.
00:14:34And, you know, they thought all day long, Spurs,
00:14:37they could play intricate passes.
00:14:39They thought they'd be able to find a gap.
00:14:40But Everton, there you go.
00:14:41Jake O'Brien, extra body, centre-half at the back.
00:14:44He decides to step in again.
00:14:46Kuliszewski thinks he's done a one-two.
00:14:48He steps across that second, that extra centre-half, Tarkovsky.
00:14:51And Everton looked like they'd been playing a back five all season long.
00:14:54But what it did allow at the other end of the pitch, as I mentioned,
00:14:57was Indai not to be up against Porro,
00:14:59but to be up against Archie Gray, the third centre-back,
00:15:02allowing him to step into better positions.
00:15:04One good bit of skill and suddenly, Everton have got bodies.
00:15:073v3 on the edge of the penalty area.
00:15:09Around Dominic Calvert-Lewin ends up in a Mangala shot.
00:15:12Haven't had enough bodies around Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
00:15:14That was going to be my point to you,
00:15:16that all of a sudden he's not isolated, is he?
00:15:19Yeah, absolutely.
00:15:20And I thought Spurs were their own problem.
00:15:22Porro never thinking about helping Indai on that situation.
00:15:24But look how many players they get forward.
00:15:26One simple pass and they've got bodies around Dominic Calvert-Lewin
00:15:29and they've benefited from it.
00:15:31I thought Everton tactically were terrific today.
00:15:33Is that the system for them going forward?
00:15:36Or does it depend on the opposition?
00:15:38I think time will tell on that.
00:15:39I think that having those three centre-backs,
00:15:42allowing Jacob Ryan to come in, I think,
00:15:44made Everton look a bit more solid.
00:15:46But the more important thing was getting players closer
00:15:48to Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the top of the pitch.
00:15:50And I think that system did help that today.
00:15:52I mean, we're constantly told that Poster Coglu won't change
00:15:54in this and he'll stick to this and he'll stick to that.
00:15:56He did change things a little bit today.
00:15:58And yet, in that post-match interview,
00:16:00he said his players struggled with it.
00:16:02They haven't.
00:16:03He also said that in the North London derby midweek.
00:16:05He said, you know, the players weren't at the races.
00:16:07They didn't show any intent.
00:16:08And it looked exactly the same today.
00:16:10I think the difference in the two teams.
00:16:12I mean, this is the first time or second time,
00:16:14I think, that Everton have played a back five.
00:16:16Tottenham have played a back five, free,
00:16:19whatever you want to call it, for a long period of time.
00:16:21And the disconnect within the team is obvious.
00:16:23You know, one goes and then the other centre-half drops off.
00:16:26And that disconnect allowed for gaps within the team.
00:16:29I just thought the connections in this Tottenham team,
00:16:31I thought the energy was lacking.
00:16:33And then the quality in the final third.
00:16:34I think, you know, somebody like Son,
00:16:36I know they've got a lot of injuries,
00:16:37but should he be playing at the minute in terms of what he's given?
00:16:40Probably not.
00:16:41I think they've really struggled Tottenham.
00:16:43But that's on the players, isn't it?
00:16:45I mean, players have to take individual responsibility as well.
00:16:48I know the heat is on Postacoglu,
00:16:50but quite a lot of the stuff you're talking about there
00:16:53is a player's responsibility.
00:16:55Yeah.
00:16:56Energy and effort and connections.
00:16:58No, I would agree.
00:16:59I think we all highlighted, haven't we,
00:17:01this high line that Postacoglu's played for a long period.
00:17:04We haven't seen that in recent weeks.
00:17:06We've seen a little bit of a deeper line,
00:17:07and maybe that's because they haven't got, you know,
00:17:09their ideal centre-backs that they want.
00:17:12But I think individual errors, I think,
00:17:14and as you said, individual responsibilities
00:17:16haven't been there for this Tottenham team,
00:17:18and they've really struggled with that.
00:17:19And, I mean, you can see the way their points have fallen
00:17:23this season compared to previous seasons.
00:17:26You look how it's gone over the last decade or so.
00:17:29Obviously, they dropped a bit in 2019-20.
00:17:32Jose Mourinho came in that season.
00:17:34They're now down there.
00:17:36You wonder at the moment,
00:17:38given the players that are available to him,
00:17:40what else he can do, really?
00:17:43Yeah, well, that's it.
00:17:44I mean, they've lost some big players,
00:17:46and those players that are available are lacking form.
00:17:49They're lacking confidence.
00:17:50They're lacking their responsibility to take on,
00:17:53you know, the desire...
00:17:55Not the desire necessarily, but, you know,
00:17:57having the confidence to go and help the team get the points.
00:17:59One win in ten.
00:18:00Five defeats in the last six is nowhere near what Spurs are expecting,
00:18:04and it'll always fall on their minds.
00:18:05But how do they get themselves out of it?
00:18:07Just by hard work.
00:18:08You get in the training.
00:18:09We always say it.
00:18:10Get behind closed doors.
00:18:11Get together.
00:18:12Be a unit.
00:18:13And, you know, sometimes things will fall for you
00:18:15if you're prepared to just work hard and stick at it together.
00:18:18And, you know, it might take one moment just to turn the whole thing around,
00:18:21but they're desperate for it.
00:18:22They are, and I think that's it.
00:18:23I mean, you could look at Everton and, you know,
00:18:25how they were struggling to get those performances.
00:18:28Even just in two games, you've seen a reaction.
00:18:30You've seen a togetherness.
00:18:31You've seen a little bit of fight, a little bit of intensity in their play,
00:18:34and it changes things.
00:18:35I don't think we've seen this in this Tottenham team in recent weeks.
00:18:38I think, you know, it is for individuals.
00:18:39I think certainly the senior players, they have to show more leadership,
00:18:42set the tone for the rest of the team,
00:18:44and I don't think they've done that.
00:18:46Right.
00:18:47Nottingham Forest went into their home game against Southampton,
00:18:50third in the table.
00:18:51It's bringing back some memories.
00:18:56I'm looking forward to the season so much.
00:18:58It's incredible.
00:18:59There is cautious optimism in these parts.
00:19:01We'll give it our best shot.
00:19:03We've had some good results.
00:19:05I think we're on the right line.
00:19:07It's always nice to beat Liverpool for a start.
00:19:09Hudson Adoina shoots!
00:19:10It is a banger!
00:19:12Three points at Heaven.
00:19:13Forest moving on up.
00:19:14And three points at Old Trafford.
00:19:16It's a famous win.
00:19:17It was like old times.
00:19:18A little bit of a fairy tale.
00:19:20Wood!
00:19:21What a finish!
00:19:22Give him the ball.
00:19:23Wood with the header!
00:19:24Just give him it.
00:19:25Wood!
00:19:26He's at it again!
00:19:27The side we've got at the moment is the most promising side we've had for many a year.
00:19:30Scoring goals is our forte.
00:19:32Defending well is our speciality.
00:19:34Oh, what a save!
00:19:35He is a good manager and obsessed with football.
00:19:39At the moment he's enjoying his job.
00:19:42We can challenge Arsenal and Liverpool.
00:19:44There's no reason why we shouldn't.
00:19:46I genuinely believe we can win the first division.
00:19:48We are a good side.
00:19:49We are a good side.
00:19:51Your commentator is Tom Gale.
00:19:54Nuno Espirito Santo refuses to be drawn into talk of European football.
00:19:59Nicholas Dominguez comes in for his 50th club appearance.
00:20:03Chris Wood is one goal shy of matching his career best Premier League season total of 14.
00:20:08Southampton boss, even Juric, wants a more Italian and evil mentality.
00:20:13Their six points as the Premier League's joint lowest ever return after 21 games.
00:20:18Cameron Archer gets a fair start for the new manager.
00:20:21Adam Armstrong replaces the injured Tyler Dibbling.
00:20:28Brie.
00:20:31Almost fell back into the feet of the Japanese midfielder.
00:20:37Williams looks to have overran that.
00:20:40And then Downs makes doubly sure that he doesn't gain any further inroads into the Southampton half.
00:20:47Ivan Juric hoping to avoid becoming the first permanent Southampton manager to lose their opening five league games.
00:20:56Anderson moving at full speed.
00:21:03A wonder strike from Elliot Anderson.
00:21:08His first ever goal for the club.
00:21:12And what a hit this is.
00:21:15No one comes to close down the space.
00:21:19Real positive display there from Anderson.
00:21:21Drive straight at Southampton.
00:21:24And once again, Nottingham Forest strike first in the Premier League.
00:21:28Forest one, Southampton nil.
00:21:32We've seen this tale before.
00:21:35Nottingham Forest conceding possession.
00:21:38But with their very first attempt on goal, they break the deadlock.
00:21:42Taking risks, Southampton playing the ball around.
00:21:51Hudson-Odoi crowd on him to strike it!
00:21:53He's a man who doesn't need much encouragement to hit the ball from that range.
00:22:05The story of Southampton season.
00:22:07A mistake at the back.
00:22:11And they are punished in emphatic fashion.
00:22:15Two shots on target.
00:22:17Two goals.
00:22:18Ruthless from Nottingham Forest.
00:22:20It's the 17th defensive error that Southampton have made this season which has led to a goal for the opposition.
00:22:30Wood.
00:22:32Einer.
00:22:33Einer.
00:22:35Einer's cross for once!
00:22:41Clinical from Nottingham Forest.
00:22:45Three attempts on goal.
00:22:48Three goals and it's their main man Chris Wood with his 14th of the season.
00:22:55Wood starts the move.
00:22:57Travels into the box.
00:23:00Einer picks him out and that's a deft header.
00:23:05He's now matched his career best that he's ever scored in a single season.
00:23:11Nottingham Forest three.
00:23:14Southampton nil.
00:23:18Walker-Peters.
00:23:22A goal back in stoppage time would give Southampton some hope.
00:23:26Heading into the break.
00:23:28Walker-Peters.
00:23:30Away from Jota Silva and Einer.
00:23:33What a goal this could be!
00:23:36Well, we had to wait until the 48th minute.
00:23:40But Southampton finally have a shot at Matt Sells' goal.
00:23:43Lankovic finds Einer who in turn sets the ball into Jota Silva.
00:23:53Einer looks to have bundled over Walker-Peters.
00:23:56Play continues.
00:23:58Wood and Langer!
00:23:59Langer!
00:24:00Gibbs-White!
00:24:03Southampton survive.
00:24:09They're coming together there.
00:24:11Anthony Taylor's happy to play the advantage.
00:24:14Finds Wood.
00:24:15Elanger takes it off him.
00:24:17And a combination of Ramsdale and Bednarek deny Elanger and Gibbs-White.
00:24:23Fernandes has gone down off the ball there.
00:24:33It is a Southampton free-kick.
00:24:40Fernandes takes.
00:24:41Ugechukwu, deflection!
00:24:50Southampton maybe have a way back into this game.
00:24:56It's Leslie Ugechukwu's strike, but it does take a deflection.
00:25:03And it's the captain, Jan Bednarek,
00:25:07with a cute little flick, which completely deceives Matt Sells.
00:25:15Nottingham Forest three, Southampton one.
00:25:21Anderson.
00:25:23Throog to the ground by Fernandes.
00:25:29Silly foul, it has to be said.
00:25:35Alanga's free kick.
00:25:38Met by Milenkovich and spilled by Ramsdale!
00:25:46Embarrassment for the Southampton goalkeeper.
00:25:49He knows he has to do better.
00:25:54VAR are checking for a possible offside.
00:25:58Chris Wood, who doesn't touch the ball, does he, impedes Aaron Ramsdale.
00:26:05So the decision from the VAR, as they recommend an on-field review
00:26:09for what they deem as a subjective offside.
00:26:13Anthony Taylor chalks off Nottingham Forest's fourth goal.
00:26:23Rillo.
00:26:24Well, with Bellis' header.
00:26:29Dominguez sends it back.
00:26:30Jota Silva.
00:26:31Wood!
00:26:33Well, if you'd want the ball to fall to anyone inside the six-yard box
00:26:36in Nottingham Forest colours, it'll be Chris Wood.
00:26:39Onochou unchallenged.
00:26:42Walker-Peters in firmly.
00:26:45Williams is...
00:26:46let out a cry of pain.
00:26:48Both men committed for the ball there.
00:26:56Walker-Peters.
00:27:00Cross comes in.
00:27:01Onochou.
00:27:02Forces the save.
00:27:06Down low from Matt Sells.
00:27:10Difficult one for Sells, but he got enough on it.
00:27:18Manning goes down.
00:27:22Suleymane thought about settling for a free kick,
00:27:26but instead goes past Heiner,
00:27:29and then his cross-con shots.
00:27:32And it's put behind by Sells.
00:27:36And there will be a minimum of 12 minutes of stoppage time.
00:27:41And that has made a number of Nottingham Forest supporters
00:27:46start to feel very uncomfortable.
00:27:50Fernandes' corner.
00:27:52Onochou!
00:27:55It could get really uncomfortable for Nottingham Forest.
00:28:00A first-ever goal in English football
00:28:04for the six-foot-six Paul Onochou.
00:28:10But more importantly, Forest 3, Southampton 2.
00:28:15And they've had very little to shout about this season,
00:28:17Southampton supporters,
00:28:18but maybe, just maybe,
00:28:20under this new manager,
00:28:23they are starting to see the sprouts
00:28:26of what would be a miraculous recovery.
00:28:29Erivo.
00:28:31Uga Chukwu, away from two.
00:28:34Still going.
00:28:36Deflected cross.
00:28:39Southampton corner.
00:28:40A growing sense of belief amongst those in yellow
00:28:46and the away ends.
00:28:49Can they deliver another?
00:28:52Fernandes.
00:28:53Off the line!
00:28:54Nottingham Forest, they're hanging on here.
00:29:05Sosa.
00:29:09Has done really well.
00:29:11And he is fouled by Erivo.
00:29:13But Ole Einar,
00:29:18his outstretched right leg
00:29:21coming between Southampton
00:29:24and a potential point.
00:29:28I think we go really well in the game.
00:29:30We break them,
00:29:32we create a lot of problems
00:29:33and we achieve three goals.
00:29:35It's a comfortable score at half-time.
00:29:37And then a deflection,
00:29:39and more than anything,
00:29:40the stoppage of the game,
00:29:41and too much interruption.
00:29:42And the game didn't flow.
00:29:43That was not help us.
00:29:46Second half,
00:29:47we play with the heart,
00:29:48with the energy,
00:29:48with the intensity.
00:29:49We did two goals.
00:29:51We had other choices to score.
00:29:53And the second half is
00:29:54the way how we have to play.
00:29:57When you picture
00:29:58your first ever Forest goal,
00:29:59it's probably something like that.
00:30:00Pretty spectacular.
00:30:02Yeah, definitely.
00:30:03I think I've been working hard for that.
00:30:04The lads have been telling me to shoot more.
00:30:06So when I sort of got that space,
00:30:08space on goal,
00:30:09I sort of thought,
00:30:09just bang it.
00:30:10So, yeah.
00:30:11I know you don't want to talk about
00:30:12titles qualifying for Europe,
00:30:13but is that maybe an example
00:30:15that some of your players
00:30:16are feeling a little bit of pressure?
00:30:17No, I'm not sure.
00:30:20We have to give credit
00:30:21to our opponent.
00:30:22A team that is in the half-time,
00:30:243-0 down,
00:30:25and we have this reaction.
00:30:27We have to credit them.
00:30:29What did he say?
00:30:30He just thought he'd bang it.
00:30:31Elliot Anderson,
00:30:32his former teammate,
00:30:33the Newcastle,
00:30:33particularly supportive there
00:30:35with a it's about type.
00:30:36He was excellent today.
00:30:37You talked to Forest fans.
00:30:38He's definitely their signing of the season
00:30:42and one of the signings of the season
00:30:44across the league.
00:30:45I think I could agree.
00:30:46I think if you look at the position,
00:30:48not in the Forest,
00:30:49they're in in the league.
00:30:50We spoke about how good defensively they are.
00:30:52We spoke about his transition,
00:30:53the pace they attack with,
00:30:54but I think Anderson in particular
00:30:56in that central area,
00:30:57I think he does both sides of the game
00:30:59really, really well,
00:30:59and we saw that in the game today,
00:31:01and I really enjoyed watching it.
00:31:03You could just see here
00:31:03the positioning he picks up,
00:31:04and he's always wanting to get
00:31:05on the half-turn,
00:31:06face forward,
00:31:07and get his front players
00:31:08moving the ball forward.
00:31:09When he gets into space,
00:31:11he carries the ball,
00:31:12which allows his teammates
00:31:12to get up the pitch
00:31:13to allow more bodies in the box,
00:31:15and he did this constantly.
00:31:17Here he shows the other side,
00:31:18aggressive,
00:31:18gets around the ball,
00:31:19and then when it's back to him again,
00:31:21he likes to travel into that space,
00:31:22give himself time,
00:31:23give his teammates time
00:31:24to get forward,
00:31:25and he goes again.
00:31:26This is his goal.
00:31:27He just reads it really well.
00:31:28Gibbs-Wright is under pressure.
00:31:30He's going to have to lay it off,
00:31:31but when he picks it up,
00:31:33it's his first ball.
00:31:34Carry the ball,
00:31:35and he got his shot away really well.
00:31:36Here again,
00:31:37the composure,
00:31:38defensively,
00:31:39just to settle the play
00:31:39when his team are under
00:31:41a little bit of pressure.
00:31:42He does that really well.
00:31:43Again, defensively here.
00:31:45Doesn't win the first one,
00:31:46but keeps himself
00:31:46in that good position.
00:31:47I spoke about
00:31:48setting his wide players
00:31:49on their way,
00:31:51and this is what he does
00:31:51really well,
00:31:52and Gibbs-Wright
00:31:52gets his team up the pitch,
00:31:53and they attack with pace.
00:31:55Can't play forward here,
00:31:56but what does he do?
00:31:57He lays it off
00:31:58and moves himself
00:31:59again into another position,
00:32:01so he's in a position
00:32:01to play forward.
00:32:03Great positioning.
00:32:04First of all,
00:32:04travel with the ball.
00:32:05If I can't do that,
00:32:06can I play forward?
00:32:07Exquisite passing to Williams,
00:32:08and they should do better here.
00:32:10Something should have been
00:32:11made more of that one,
00:32:12but a really good game,
00:32:13and he gets his goal
00:32:14for Nottingham Forest.
00:32:15There's his touch match,
00:32:16and credit to the Forest
00:32:18coaching staff as well
00:32:19to use him in that role,
00:32:21which wasn't how he's been used
00:32:23before when he was at Newcastle.
00:32:25Yeah, I mean,
00:32:26definitely haven't seen
00:32:26those attributes from him,
00:32:28but we've seen it
00:32:29in his Forest team.
00:32:29He likes to defend,
00:32:30he can break up play,
00:32:31he gets into really good positions
00:32:33in doing that,
00:32:33and he's a forward-thinking player,
00:32:35and, as you say,
00:32:36when you play in a formation
00:32:37and system like Nottingham Forest,
00:32:39it's great to have a player
00:32:40like that that likes
00:32:40to look forward.
00:32:41Got nervy for Forest
00:32:43at the end,
00:32:43but when they were 3-1 up,
00:32:45they thought they'd gone
00:32:454-1 up,
00:32:46and it would have been
00:32:47done and dusted then,
00:32:48but you think this is
00:32:50right to disallow, don't you?
00:32:51I know you don't,
00:32:53but, yeah.
00:32:54Well, that's what I think, Leo.
00:32:55Well, I do, to be honest.
00:32:57I think, you know,
00:32:58Milenkovic thinks he's scored
00:32:59and would have been
00:33:00a real blooper
00:33:00from Aaron Ramsdale,
00:33:02but, you know,
00:33:03Chris Wood is in an offside position,
00:33:04he's affecting Onuachu,
00:33:06who's in that position.
00:33:08Yes,
00:33:08Milenkovic comes across,
00:33:10but I think if you see that
00:33:11Milenkovic would be
00:33:12stepping into that area
00:33:13because, you know,
00:33:15as I say,
00:33:15Milenkovic runs into that area
00:33:17where Onuachu's expected
00:33:18to go and head the ball.
00:33:20Chris Wood's affecting him,
00:33:21he's looking at him
00:33:21over his shoulder,
00:33:22there's a bump,
00:33:22Chris Wood's come around,
00:33:23tries to get involved himself.
00:33:25I do think that it is
00:33:26interfering.
00:33:27Even though Onuachu
00:33:27doesn't even challenge for it.
00:33:28I do, I do,
00:33:29because, you know,
00:33:30he's interfering with him.
00:33:32If he's not there
00:33:33or he's in an offside position,
00:33:34he'll go and head the ball
00:33:35and you might think it's soft,
00:33:36but I think if we're just clear
00:33:38with that across the line
00:33:39that if you're offside position
00:33:40and you're getting interfered,
00:33:41it's going to be...
00:33:41It did save
00:33:42on Ramsdale's blushes, though.
00:33:43It did.
00:33:44You agree with him?
00:33:45I did agree.
00:33:45I think he does interfere with play.
00:33:47I was asking the question
00:33:48because at first,
00:33:49when I was watching it live,
00:33:50I actually thought
00:33:51he's come from that offside position
00:33:52and I did think
00:33:53he affected defenders' decision-making
00:33:55in challenging.
00:33:57OK.
00:33:57It will.
00:33:59Forest last season
00:34:00struggled a little bit
00:34:01on set-pieces.
00:34:03Defending set-pieces.
00:34:04This season,
00:34:04they've been fantastic defensively,
00:34:06but Southampton did cause
00:34:07some problems this afternoon.
00:34:09Yeah, they did.
00:34:10And mainly in the second half,
00:34:12I think they made a few changes,
00:34:13Southampton,
00:34:14and I think the only way
00:34:15they were going to open
00:34:16this Forest team up
00:34:17would be from a set-piece.
00:34:19And you can see a shot
00:34:20from the edge of the box.
00:34:22Takes a bit of a deflection
00:34:23and it goes in.
00:34:25And it was just putting
00:34:25balls into the box.
00:34:26They started to get
00:34:27a little bit of a height advantage
00:34:28and balls that went in,
00:34:30they were getting first contacts in,
00:34:31wasn't really impacting.
00:34:33But this one here,
00:34:34I mean,
00:34:34at this stage,
00:34:35I must add that they took
00:34:37their main headers in wood
00:34:38and Gibbs right off the pitch
00:34:40and it's a great header.
00:34:42And Nottingham Forest
00:34:43would have wanted to do better.
00:34:44This is a great clearance,
00:34:45by the way.
00:34:45It is.
00:34:46I mean,
00:34:47another day,
00:34:47this goes into the back
00:34:48of the net for Southampton
00:34:49and Forest would have,
00:34:50you know,
00:34:52would have been kicking himself
00:34:52because they were in control
00:34:53of the game.
00:34:54It wasn't,
00:34:55I said,
00:34:55until the second half
00:34:56that they got a few set-pieces
00:34:58that they caused a few problems
00:34:59for Nottingham Forest.
00:35:00They won't want
00:35:01that to slip back
00:35:02into their game.
00:35:04There's two good clues,
00:35:05this from Aina,
00:35:06in a week,
00:35:06that one,
00:35:07and against Liverpool
00:35:07during the week as well.
00:35:09Is this a mischievous stat
00:35:11to end with?
00:35:14Which I'm going to keep...
00:35:16It's also mischievous
00:35:16and worth waiting for.
00:35:20Yeah,
00:35:20I think just about.
00:35:22I mean,
00:35:22you know,
00:35:23the same points
00:35:24and a great position.
00:35:25I think Leicester
00:35:26were fortunate
00:35:27in the sense that
00:35:28everybody had an off-season.
00:35:30Everybody opened the door
00:35:31for Leicester to go through.
00:35:32Liverpool aren't doing that
00:35:33at the moment.
00:35:33Liverpool aren't...
00:35:34They've got themselves
00:35:35into a great position,
00:35:36points ahead.
00:35:37I don't think
00:35:38Nottingham Forest fans
00:35:38are thinking about
00:35:40winning the League of the Mart.
00:35:41They're really enjoying
00:35:41the thought of
00:35:42European qualification
00:35:43and rightly so.
00:35:44They deserve it
00:35:45from what they've achieved
00:35:46up to this point
00:35:47in this season.
00:35:48There's still a few games to go.
00:35:49They have to complete the task.
00:35:50And now the death
00:35:51of Manchester United legend
00:35:53Dennis Law
00:35:54was announced on Friday.
00:35:55Ahead of United's
00:35:56home game
00:35:57against Brighton,
00:35:57fans gathered
00:35:58to pay their respects.
00:35:59You can't get a name
00:36:04like the King
00:36:05and not be the King.
00:36:06You know,
00:36:06they don't give that name
00:36:07to anybody.
00:36:08You have to be
00:36:08a special individual.
00:36:10And Dennis showed that.
00:36:12He showed he was
00:36:12a special man.
00:36:13Brilliant.
00:36:14Brilliant.
00:36:14Just great watching him.
00:36:16Best header of ball
00:36:17ever I've seen.
00:36:18It's wonderful
00:36:18that we can be here
00:36:19to pay our respects
00:36:21to Dennis Law.
00:36:22Fabulous footballer.
00:36:24And, you know,
00:36:24he was united
00:36:25and we were just
00:36:26so lucky to have him
00:36:27as on our team.
00:36:29The most brilliant
00:36:30finisher
00:36:30I've ever seen
00:36:32and that was Dennis.
00:36:33And we'll never see
00:36:35anyone like Dennis again.
00:36:38I'm an Aberdeenu
00:36:39and growing up
00:36:40he was
00:36:41everyone's hero.
00:36:43Yes.
00:36:43So,
00:36:44just wanted to say
00:36:45as an exiled
00:36:46Aberdeenu
00:36:47rest easy.
00:36:48He'll be remembered
00:36:49with Georgie
00:36:50and Bobby Child
00:36:51for many years
00:36:52and years to come.
00:36:54You know,
00:36:54you name it,
00:36:55Dennis was,
00:36:56had scored them goals.
00:36:58It was,
00:36:59and his leap
00:36:59for such a
00:37:00slight,
00:37:02small person
00:37:02was unbelievable.
00:37:04He was superb.
00:37:05The best thing was
00:37:06that he was
00:37:06such a wonderful person.
00:37:08For me,
00:37:10his sense of humour
00:37:11and everything,
00:37:12it just stands out
00:37:13that what a fantastic
00:37:14guy he was.
00:37:16Eric was the second king
00:37:17but Dennis
00:37:18was the first king
00:37:19and he always will be.
00:37:21Thank you,
00:37:22Dennis.
00:37:23You're a star.
00:37:24Guy Mowbray
00:37:30was this old traffic.
00:37:33Another
00:37:34of the greats
00:37:35has gone
00:37:35and it's not only
00:37:37Manchester
00:37:37in mourning.
00:37:40Dennis Law
00:37:40was revered
00:37:41the world over.
00:37:42Children were named
00:37:42after him
00:37:43including famously
00:37:44one Dennis Bergkamp.
00:37:47He leaves
00:37:48quite a legacy
00:37:49as the United
00:37:50Trinity
00:37:51are reunited.
00:37:52It was 61 years ago
00:37:55yesterday
00:37:55that Law,
00:37:57Best and Charlton
00:37:58played together
00:37:59for the club
00:38:00for the very first time.
00:38:03Ryan Kidd,
00:38:06Paddy Carreran,
00:38:06Sir Alex Ferguson
00:38:08and Sir Alex Ferguson
00:38:09will now once again
00:38:12take to the Old Trafford field
00:38:13and the whole of the ground
00:38:16will stand,
00:38:18remember
00:38:20and give thanks
00:38:21for
00:38:21the king,
00:38:23the lawman.
00:38:24Ruben Amorim
00:38:41makes three changes
00:38:42to his starting line-up
00:38:43for this one
00:38:44with Harry Maguire
00:38:44back at the start
00:38:45in place of
00:38:46Lissandra Martinez.
00:38:47Diogo Dalot
00:38:48returns from a ban
00:38:49and Joshua Xerxi
00:38:50takes his turn up front
00:38:52rather than
00:38:52Rasmus Hoyland
00:38:53and with something
00:38:54to prove
00:38:54after Amorim's
00:38:55admission
00:38:56that his team
00:38:57has a lack of goals
00:38:58and a lack of threat.
00:39:00For Brighton
00:39:01also three changes
00:39:02with one of their
00:39:03main threats
00:39:03being one of United's own.
00:39:05Danny Welbeck
00:39:05back in
00:39:06having scored
00:39:07four times here
00:39:08since leaving
00:39:08over a decade ago.
00:39:10Twice for Brighton,
00:39:11twice for Arsenal.
00:39:12Louis Dunk and
00:39:13Yankouba Minta
00:39:14also coming
00:39:15to the Seagulls' side.
00:39:18Brighton
00:39:19who've got
00:39:19a really good
00:39:20recent record
00:39:21against Manchester United.
00:39:22They've won
00:39:23five
00:39:23of the last
00:39:24six Premier League
00:39:25meetings.
00:39:27Under pressure.
00:39:29There is the clear
00:39:30safe route
00:39:30back to Onana.
00:39:32He's been closed.
00:39:33The pressure is told
00:39:34for Brighton
00:39:34in João Pedro.
00:39:36João Pedro
00:39:37stings it across
00:39:38and
00:39:38Onana
00:39:39got his gloves
00:39:40to it.
00:39:41Came back off
00:39:42Welbeck.
00:39:43It's going to be
00:39:43a goal kick.
00:39:44Hit it hard.
00:39:45Cause a problem.
00:39:47On another day
00:39:47it might well
00:39:48have gone in.
00:39:51The memory
00:39:51has spoken of
00:39:52his team's need
00:39:53to control games.
00:39:55Put their stamp
00:39:56on the proceedings
00:39:57rather than
00:39:58only playing better
00:39:59when they don't
00:40:00have much of the ball
00:40:01against teams
00:40:03that are in better form.
00:40:06That's a wonderful
00:40:06ball over the top
00:40:07for Mitoma
00:40:08and a great touch too
00:40:09and he sets up
00:40:10the chance
00:40:10which is taken.
00:40:13Minta scores
00:40:14for Brighton
00:40:15made by Mitoma.
00:40:18Manchester United
00:40:19behind at home again.
00:40:21Brighton leading
00:40:22in Old Trafford again.
00:40:25The lever
00:40:26who plays it
00:40:28for Mitoma
00:40:29to run onto.
00:40:30Masraoui
00:40:30was caught
00:40:31napping there.
00:40:33Mitoma had a
00:40:34simple task.
00:40:35Well a simple choice.
00:40:36Go for goal himself
00:40:37for playing Minta
00:40:39for the easier
00:40:39opportunity.
00:40:41And it's
00:40:41Manchester United
00:40:42nil.
00:40:42Reinenhove
00:40:43Albion 1.
00:40:47So many problems
00:40:48for him to solve.
00:40:52Amat.
00:40:52Zerksy tries to
00:41:08hit it cleanly enough.
00:41:10Amat again
00:41:11instrumental
00:41:12in all of the good
00:41:13things that
00:41:14Manchester United
00:41:14are doing.
00:41:17Zerksy
00:41:17plays it back to
00:41:18Bruno Fernandes.
00:41:19Amat goes in.
00:41:20Estepinian with him.
00:41:21Zerksy tries to
00:41:22charge in too.
00:41:24Brighton struggling
00:41:25to clear.
00:41:26It is De Ligt
00:41:27and it hits
00:41:28Meynou.
00:41:32There's the dialogue
00:41:33going on between
00:41:34Fabian Herzler
00:41:34and
00:41:35Jonas Schauermann.
00:41:39They're Bruggen.
00:41:40Oh that was too
00:41:41risky.
00:41:41And they've won it.
00:41:42Zerksy.
00:41:43Zerksy goes down.
00:41:45And that's not a penalty
00:41:45either is it?
00:41:46Yes it is.
00:41:49Seem to stop
00:41:49and think for a moment.
00:41:51Just bored himself
00:41:52a few seconds
00:41:52to Peter Banks.
00:41:54But it did seem
00:41:55as though Zerksy
00:41:56was impeded
00:41:57by Carlos Belieber.
00:42:00And the arm
00:42:01came around the
00:42:02neck of
00:42:03Zerksy here.
00:42:07So Manchester United
00:42:08through their captain
00:42:10to have the chance
00:42:12to make it 1-1.
00:42:16Fernandes scores.
00:42:19Manchester United
00:42:20are given assistance
00:42:21by their visitors
00:42:22to get back
00:42:23into the game.
00:42:25Fernandes has a look
00:42:26just checks
00:42:27to see
00:42:28which way
00:42:29of Ebruggen's
00:42:30body weight
00:42:30he's going to go
00:42:31and simply passes
00:42:32it the other way.
00:42:34Manchester United
00:42:341-1.
00:42:35Brighton 1-1.
00:42:37Bruno Fernandes
00:42:37penalties.
00:42:39Like Luke Littler
00:42:39at playing darts.
00:42:41Bullseye.
00:42:42Pedro's touch
00:42:47to Danny Welbeck.
00:42:50Welbeck down
00:42:51and the referee
00:42:52does blow his whistle.
00:42:55Which part of all this
00:42:56was the foul?
00:42:57There's the barge from
00:42:59Maynou
00:42:59propelling Welbeck
00:43:01into Maguire.
00:43:02It wasn't a shoulder
00:43:03barge
00:43:03it was from behind.
00:43:06I guess in
00:43:06Hayari
00:43:06he's going to take
00:43:07the free kick.
00:43:08Murray gives the signal
00:43:10and then slips.
00:43:12It still might work
00:43:13for Brighton.
00:43:13There's João Pedro
00:43:14bringing it down.
00:43:15João Pedro is in
00:43:16and Brighton have scored.
00:43:18Having made an almighty
00:43:20mess of the free kick
00:43:21Manchester United's
00:43:23defence found itself
00:43:25in a mess.
00:43:26João Pedro
00:43:27the scorer
00:43:29of a curious goal.
00:43:32Well there are the runners
00:43:32and as the kick is struck
00:43:34Bruno Fernandes
00:43:35was playing everybody
00:43:36onside.
00:43:38Manchester United
00:43:38arms in the air.
00:43:40They couldn't get
00:43:40the ball away
00:43:41and it came so kindly
00:43:43to João Pedro.
00:43:452-1 Brighton
00:43:46if it stands.
00:43:48It's been checked
00:43:49for a possible foul
00:43:50in the build-up
00:43:51and I think Peter Banks
00:43:52is going to be asked
00:43:54to go across
00:43:54and have a look
00:43:55for himself.
00:43:56It will be his decision.
00:43:59Well I think
00:44:00anywhere else on the field
00:44:01that would be given
00:44:02as a foul
00:44:03so no difference here.
00:44:06Van Hecker kicks
00:44:07Dalloe's boot
00:44:08not the ball.
00:44:10No goal.
00:44:11Not a shock.
00:44:13It stays 1-1.
00:44:15And although that
00:44:16took a bit of time
00:44:17that is one of those
00:44:18where VAR
00:44:19is used
00:44:20to its proper purpose.
00:44:25Ayari
00:44:27Stugate
00:44:29Minter
00:44:33down her
00:44:35Minter puts the ball
00:44:36in
00:44:36that one will count
00:44:38Brighton now do
00:44:40have the lead
00:44:41Mitoma
00:44:42pokes the ball
00:44:44over the line
00:44:45well he now is
00:44:48the all-time
00:44:49top Japanese
00:44:50goalscorer
00:44:51in the English
00:44:52Premier League
00:44:53his 15th goal
00:44:56in it
00:44:56he overtakes
00:44:58the Leicester City
00:44:59title winner
00:45:00Shinji Okazaki
00:45:01Mitoma
00:45:02kept his eyes
00:45:03on the Minter
00:45:04ball in
00:45:05just had to make
00:45:06sure he stretched
00:45:07and won the race
00:45:07with Masraoui
00:45:08he's done that
00:45:08and Brighton are
00:45:09winning the game

00:45:17that

00:45:20again
00:45:20some have grown
00:45:23up getting

00:45:51of Andrea
00:45:52Onana's
00:45:53horrendous
00:45:53error
00:45:54that's not
00:45:55the stuffing
00:45:56out of those
00:45:58in red shirts
00:45:58and those
00:46:00supporting the
00:46:01team in red shirts
00:46:02at Old Trafford
00:46:02it's more or less
00:46:04a pass for
00:46:05Onana to gather
00:46:06greasy ball
00:46:07it's no excuse
00:46:09it just pops
00:46:12out
00:46:12Manchester United
00:46:14won
00:46:14Brighton
00:46:15three
00:46:15it's another
00:46:17defeat
00:46:17for Manchester
00:46:18United
00:46:19it is not
00:46:20acceptable
00:46:21to lose so many
00:46:22games in Premier League
00:46:23especially if you are
00:46:24in Manchester United
00:46:25no matter the situation
00:46:26no matter the moment
00:46:27this should not
00:46:29be settled
00:46:30mistakes happen
00:46:31but they keep
00:46:32happening
00:46:32how do you
00:46:33stop them happening
00:46:34why do they keep
00:46:35on happening
00:46:35I don't know
00:46:36we need to be better
00:46:37I think that is
00:46:38that is really clear
00:46:40it doesn't matter
00:46:41if we have
00:46:42a lot of
00:46:43time to train
00:46:44if I know the players
00:46:45or not
00:46:46it's not acceptable
00:46:47we need to change
00:46:48that
00:46:48so we
00:46:50are continuing
00:46:51to work
00:46:52and
00:46:52to change
00:46:54these details
00:46:55that can change
00:46:55the game
00:46:56mistakes are part
00:46:56of football
00:46:57and you're gonna do
00:46:58it
00:46:58you're gonna make it
00:46:58and that's okay
00:47:00but the thing is
00:47:01like you need to have
00:47:02the braveness
00:47:02to get back
00:47:03and do it again
00:47:04and do it again
00:47:05we're even talking
00:47:06too much about
00:47:06difficult to play
00:47:07Old Trafford
00:47:08how is possible
00:47:09that Man United
00:47:10has difficult to play
00:47:11at home ground
00:47:13with the atmosphere
00:47:14that we have
00:47:14we can't put
00:47:15all these things up
00:47:17to make excuses
00:47:20of not winning games
00:47:21and not being brave
00:47:22enough to do the things
00:47:23we had a good structure
00:47:24in the game
00:47:24we had
00:47:26not big chances
00:47:27but I think we were
00:47:28always a danger
00:47:29for them
00:47:30and then we changed
00:47:31more things
00:47:32in the half time
00:47:32and then especially
00:47:33in the second half
00:47:33we were very stable
00:47:35against the ball
00:47:36we had a good structure
00:47:37in possession
00:47:37and in the end
00:47:39I think we deserved to win
00:47:40I thought we started well
00:47:41and then
00:47:41lost a bit of our shape
00:47:43and structure
00:47:44and they obviously
00:47:45got the goal back
00:47:46and poor goal
00:47:47to give away
00:47:48but the way we play
00:47:49sometimes that happens
00:47:50and we showed a great reaction
00:47:51from that moment
00:47:52to get back in the game
00:47:53raise the intensity
00:47:54and we've had three
00:47:56massive games this week
00:47:57and three wins
00:47:57in this big week
00:47:58Well both Duncan
00:48:00and Herzl
00:48:00talked about structure
00:48:02and tactically
00:48:03they got it spot on
00:48:05today
00:48:05didn't they
00:48:06particularly out wide
00:48:07Yeah they did
00:48:07and maybe they identified
00:48:09some weaknesses
00:48:09in this Manchester United
00:48:10back 5-3-5
00:48:12however you see it
00:48:13and used their wide players
00:48:14to really exploit that
00:48:15and you can see
00:48:16right from the off
00:48:17what the intent was
00:48:19from the Brighton wide players
00:48:20Matoma
00:48:21and Minter
00:48:22stretching
00:48:23or trying to make runs
00:48:24from out to in
00:48:26you can see
00:48:26getting between
00:48:27you can see
00:48:28Euro getting
00:48:28and De Ligt
00:48:30getting in wrong positions here
00:48:31and leaving massive gaps
00:48:32between full backs
00:48:33and your main centre
00:48:34centre half
00:48:35and it just opened up
00:48:36the gap from Matoma
00:48:37to run into
00:48:38you can see him again
00:48:39really on the touchline
00:48:40and then getting beyond
00:48:41the back line
00:48:42and look at
00:48:42Manchester United's line
00:48:44disjointed
00:48:44and what you want
00:48:45from your opposite wide player
00:48:46when your winger
00:48:47on the other side
00:48:48is on the ball
00:48:49is for them
00:48:49to make up the box
00:48:50and they do just that
00:48:51it wasn't just
00:48:52the in-possession stuff
00:48:53that was good about
00:48:54both of the wide players today
00:48:55and you can see
00:48:57Minter here
00:48:57he's not giving up
00:48:58this chase
00:48:59and getting back
00:48:59and making a tackle
00:49:00here on Dalo
00:49:01and winning the ball
00:49:02back for his team
00:49:03and then getting up
00:49:04the pitch
00:49:05and the same on the opposite
00:49:06Matoma
00:49:07you know
00:49:07the ball goes past him
00:49:08he thought his teammate
00:49:09had good possession
00:49:10he didn't
00:49:10but he fights to win it back
00:49:11and then just settles
00:49:12the play for Brighton
00:49:14and they go again
00:49:14here's what I really like
00:49:19tries to win it
00:49:20he doesn't win the first one
00:49:21but what he does
00:49:21he stays on it
00:49:22allows his team
00:49:23to get behind the ball
00:49:24and reshape
00:49:25and then
00:49:25as we said
00:49:26Minter on the other side
00:49:27I mean this is
00:49:28an unbelievable interception
00:49:29reading the danger
00:49:30getting back into a good position
00:49:32and sensing that
00:49:33and then
00:49:34what his teammate
00:49:35did for him in the first half
00:49:36Minter
00:49:36he thought he'd do the same
00:49:37for Matoma
00:49:39on the opposite
00:49:40and cuts back on the left
00:49:41and just leaves the ball
00:49:42into a great area
00:49:43and what I said before
00:49:44what you want
00:49:45from the opposite
00:49:45wide player
00:49:46when your wingers
00:49:47on the ball
00:49:48is to make up
00:49:49the back post
00:49:49and they do that
00:49:50but look at this graphic
00:49:51I think it
00:49:52basically shows you
00:49:54how good both of those
00:49:55wide players were
00:49:56in terms of
00:49:56distance covered
00:49:57and areas
00:49:58they got themselves into
00:49:59well even though
00:49:59they played as a back forward
00:50:00but the wingers
00:50:01virtually performed
00:50:02as wing backs
00:50:02when you see
00:50:03all those different places
00:50:04where they touch the ball
00:50:06after the game
00:50:08Ruben Amirim
00:50:09expanded a little bit more
00:50:10in his press conference
00:50:12about Manchester United
00:50:13and some of these quotes
00:50:14are all over social media
00:50:16and will be all over
00:50:17the papers
00:50:17in the morning as well
00:50:19this is what he had to say
00:50:20in 10 games in Premier League
00:50:23we won two
00:50:24I know that
00:50:25imagine what is
00:50:27is this for a
00:50:28for a fan of Manchester United
00:50:30imagine what is this for me
00:50:32so we
00:50:33we are getting
00:50:34a new coach
00:50:35that is losing more
00:50:36than the last coach
00:50:37I have
00:50:38full knowledge of that
00:50:40like I said
00:50:41I'm not going to change
00:50:43no matter what
00:50:43and I know
00:50:44we can succeed
00:50:46but we need to survive
00:50:47this moment
00:50:48because I'm not naive
00:50:49and I know that
00:50:50we need to survive now
00:50:52so
00:50:53we are
00:50:54being the worst team
00:50:56maybe
00:50:56in the history of
00:50:57Manchester United
00:50:58I know that you want
00:50:59headlines
00:51:00but I'm seeing that
00:51:02because
00:51:03we
00:51:04we have to acknowledge that
00:51:05and
00:51:06to change that
00:51:08so
00:51:08here we go
00:51:10your headlines
00:51:11well that will certainly
00:51:13be the headline
00:51:14we are the
00:51:15the worst team
00:51:15maybe in the history
00:51:16of Manchester United
00:51:18he's trying to fire them up
00:51:20any which way he can
00:51:21isn't he
00:51:22yeah I mean
00:51:23it's a really bold statement
00:51:24I mean
00:51:25to say that
00:51:26they're the worst ever
00:51:27in the Premier League
00:51:27it's a team
00:51:28the starting team today
00:51:29got 391 million
00:51:30they've got 341 caps
00:51:32between
00:51:33these are
00:51:33some experienced players
00:51:34that some of them
00:51:35you know
00:51:36are still young
00:51:37five summer signings
00:51:38cost 182 million
00:51:39that they've just brought in
00:51:41so
00:51:41they're trying to strengthen
00:51:42it's not working
00:51:43they need to find a way
00:51:44I personally
00:51:45wouldn't enjoy
00:51:46being called out like this
00:51:48it would probably fire me up
00:51:49which is probably the intent
00:51:50but
00:51:50nobody wants to be known
00:51:51as the worst team
00:51:52that's ever played
00:51:54for a certain football club
00:51:55and
00:51:55you know
00:51:56that's a really bold
00:51:56probably an honest
00:51:57and probably right on the mark
00:51:58statement
00:51:59there are probably
00:52:00a lot of fans
00:52:00who will agree with them
00:52:01particularly
00:52:02the ones who were there today
00:52:03because
00:52:03you know
00:52:04at times
00:52:05they looked a right shower
00:52:06didn't they
00:52:07yeah
00:52:07they definitely did
00:52:08and
00:52:09certainly defensively
00:52:10you can't argue
00:52:11with some of the quotes
00:52:12that he's come out with
00:52:13but
00:52:13I think the back five
00:52:15stroke three
00:52:16however we see it
00:52:17in particular
00:52:18you can see right from the off
00:52:20I mean
00:52:20the intent they're at home
00:52:21we're at Old Trafford here
00:52:22against Brighton
00:52:23and
00:52:23yes it's a
00:52:24it's a kick off
00:52:26it's only Xerxes
00:52:26that wants to go
00:52:27Maguire
00:52:28you know
00:52:28challenges the first
00:52:29no intent to get up the pitch
00:52:31and close the second balls down
00:52:32but you can already see
00:52:33Yoro here
00:52:34wants to go in on
00:52:35Pedro
00:52:36which
00:52:37in doing that
00:52:38is working into
00:52:39into Brighton's hands
00:52:40we just spoke about it before
00:52:41wide players wanting to
00:52:42run into that space
00:52:43that they leave
00:52:44and they did it all afternoon
00:52:45and this Manchester United
00:52:46back five
00:52:47you see it here again
00:52:48Yoro going right in on Pedro
00:52:49you've got Welbeck
00:52:50as your other number ten
00:52:51that starts as a striker
00:52:53and drops into that ten position
00:52:54you've got De Litt
00:52:55half an eye on him
00:52:57do I go
00:52:57don't I go
00:52:58Yoro we see is still in there
00:52:59De Litt wants to go in
00:53:00what that does
00:53:01is create a massive gap
00:53:02between the back three
00:53:03and then the space
00:53:05that Brighton were looking for
00:53:06all afternoon
00:53:06just opens up for them
00:53:08and I think
00:53:08defensively
00:53:09Lyon they were all over the place
00:53:11this Manchester United
00:53:11back five
00:53:12yeah I mean that was
00:53:13that one was a simple goal
00:53:14but you know
00:53:15you get in at half time
00:53:16you come out in the second half
00:53:17has anything changed
00:53:18well
00:53:18no I mean
00:53:19this is a team
00:53:20we've just showed
00:53:21centre-halves are trying
00:53:22to learn their new role
00:53:23they're trying to step in
00:53:24they're wondering
00:53:24whether it's going or not
00:53:25there's absolutely no pressure
00:53:27on the ball
00:53:27what are they expecting
00:53:28if they're going to try
00:53:29and step in
00:53:30and going to be aggressive
00:53:31that front lot in front
00:53:32the front five in front
00:53:33have got to pressurise
00:53:35the ball a lot better
00:53:35they can't get beat that easy
00:53:37the back five's getting criticised
00:53:39because they're not keeping
00:53:40efforts out
00:53:41it's a team thing
00:53:41it's a team thing
00:53:42the people in front of them
00:53:44just aren't closing down
00:53:45we just talked about
00:53:46Everton earlier in the show
00:53:47starting aggressively
00:53:48putting the opposition
00:53:48on the front foot
00:53:49on the back foot
00:53:50Manchester United
00:53:52aren't doing anything like that
00:53:53they're just
00:53:54they're so easy to play against
00:53:56at the moment
00:53:57and they make individual mistakes
00:53:58yeah it's a big pitch
00:53:59and they allow that
00:54:00and then they tie themselves out
00:54:01and then you make dreadful errors
00:54:02like that
00:54:03so if it's going wrong
00:54:03at one end of the pitch
00:54:04you're not able to sort it
00:54:05at the other
00:54:06and then you're making
00:54:06huge mistakes as well
00:54:07it's making them look dreadful
00:54:09but you mentioned
00:54:10you know
00:54:11go back to the start
00:54:12and Everton
00:54:12and they haven't played that
00:54:13and they've played that
00:54:14and they knew what
00:54:16they were doing
00:54:16he's not asking them
00:54:18to be nuclear physicists
00:54:19he's asking them
00:54:20to switch from a back four
00:54:21to a back three
00:54:21how hard can it be?
00:54:23I'm not saying it is
00:54:24but they'll not
00:54:24it shouldn't be
00:54:25genuinely is it hard?
00:54:27it's different
00:54:27it shouldn't be this hard
00:54:29but if you're not prepared
00:54:30to run round the pitch
00:54:31you're not closing down
00:54:32I mean
00:54:33they were so off it today
00:54:34they allowed a team
00:54:35of Brighton's quality
00:54:36to come and knock the ball around
00:54:37and get into the game
00:54:38they sat off so much
00:54:40what are you expecting
00:54:40that that kind of team
00:54:41will take you apart?
00:54:42a disconnect what?
00:54:43between the units?
00:54:43yeah between the units
00:54:45between the understanding
00:54:46between the back three
00:54:48and maybe your wing backs
00:54:49when to go
00:54:49when not to go
00:54:50and then your midfield two
00:54:52the distances between
00:54:53the midfield two
00:54:53and the three
00:54:54and in the back line
00:54:55and then you saw at times
00:54:56Bruno, Gannaccio
00:54:57at times getting frustrated
00:54:58and chasing areas
00:54:59that they shouldn't be
00:55:00that disconnects
00:55:01the whole team
00:55:01and we saw it throughout
00:55:02and Leon mentioned
00:55:03he probably will blame
00:55:05the back five
00:55:05but I think what happens
00:55:07in front obviously affects that
00:55:08and I think the disconnect
00:55:09is there
00:55:10but I can understand
00:55:11why he'd say
00:55:12it's the worst team
00:55:12because as you say
00:55:14Everton have made
00:55:14a small change
00:55:15and have been able
00:55:16to connect quickly
00:55:17they've been doing
00:55:17this now for ten games
00:55:18and it doesn't seem
00:55:20to be much improvement
00:55:21okay we can say
00:55:22the Liverpool game
00:55:22and the Arsenal Cup game
00:55:24but apart from that
00:55:25there's not much
00:55:26of an improvement
00:55:26alright after dropping
00:55:28points at Brentford
00:55:29on Tuesday night
00:55:30Manchester City
00:55:31travelled to struggling
00:55:32Ipswich Town
00:55:33commentary from Steve Wilson
00:55:34Kieran McKenna
00:55:38makes five changes
00:55:39to the XI
00:55:39which lost to Brighton
00:55:41on loan Calvert-Phillips
00:55:42is ineligible
00:55:43replaced by Sam Morsi
00:55:45Johnson, Burgess
00:55:46Godfrey and Clarke
00:55:47replace Wolfenden
00:55:48Greaves, Burns
00:55:49and Broadhead
00:55:50in a return
00:55:51to a back five
00:55:52Guardiola makes
00:55:53three changes
00:55:54to the side
00:55:55which drew
00:55:55at Brentford
00:55:56Edison is back
00:55:57in goal for Ortega
00:55:58it's Gundogan
00:55:59for Bernardo Silva
00:56:00and Doku
00:56:01for Savinho
00:56:03Dennis Law
00:56:06was one of Manchester United's
00:56:07Holy Trinity
00:56:08but also
00:56:09had two spells
00:56:11with Manchester City
00:56:12separated by 13 years
00:56:15applause
00:56:16was the backing track
00:56:17to his stellar
00:56:18playing career
00:56:19and applause now
00:56:21as we remember
00:56:23one of the greats
00:56:24194 points
00:56:43Ipswich won
00:56:44over their last
00:56:44two seasons
00:56:45promotion from
00:56:46League One
00:56:47in the Championship
00:56:48Guardiola
00:56:56Matteo Kovacic
00:56:58oh that's a lovely
00:57:00ball into Erling Haaland
00:57:02and Haaland
00:57:03Walton with the save
00:57:04and most people
00:57:06would have backed
00:57:07on the goal
00:57:07not Walton
00:57:10well
00:57:14at least nine times
00:57:15out of ten
00:57:16you'd expect
00:57:16Erling Haaland
00:57:17to put that away
00:57:18Calvin Phillips
00:57:21ineligible today
00:57:22of course
00:57:22to play for Ipswich
00:57:23against his
00:57:24parent club
00:57:25for his
00:57:27first goal
00:57:28for Ipswich
00:57:29the other day
00:57:30in the
00:57:31FA Cup victory
00:57:32over Bristol Rovers
00:57:33here
00:57:33Foden
00:57:39and
00:57:40Gundogan
00:57:42might have been
00:57:43in an offside
00:57:43position
00:57:44if he'd controlled
00:57:47that and swivelled
00:57:48he could have
00:57:48put City in front
00:57:49recently celebrated
00:57:53the third
00:57:53anniversary
00:57:54of his appointment
00:57:55at Portman Road
00:57:56Kieran McKenna
00:57:57Kovacic
00:58:02well played
00:58:05Dillard
00:58:05taking on
00:58:08Matias Nunez
00:58:09and gliding
00:58:09past him
00:58:10Kovacic
00:58:11came back
00:58:12free kick
00:58:13good play
00:58:16by Dillard
00:58:16well naturally
00:58:19he'll be super
00:58:19motivated
00:58:20to make an impression
00:58:21against the
00:58:22club who sold him
00:58:23Davis pull back
00:58:31to Hutchison
00:58:32to Hutchison
00:58:32unlucky
00:58:35good
00:58:37three kick
00:58:37that
00:58:37a
00:58:47can
00:58:47Foden
00:58:51Foden
00:58:51Toku
00:59:00nicely done
00:59:01De Bruyne
00:59:02and in from
00:59:05Phil Foden
00:59:05oh it's a beautifully
00:59:08worked Manchester City
00:59:09goal
00:59:10classic City
00:59:12finished by Foden
00:59:14precision
00:59:15and class
00:59:16in tight corners
00:59:18that's a lovely finish
00:59:22delightful goal
00:59:27Kovacic
00:59:31Kovacic
00:59:31Doku
00:59:34this looks dangerous
00:59:39Foden to Kovacic
00:59:41driving it in
00:59:41and it's 2-0
00:59:43to Manchester City
00:59:44with two quick
00:59:46fire goals
00:59:47first Foden
00:59:48then Kovacic
00:59:50almost no reaction
00:59:52from the City
00:59:54dugout
00:59:54but a blistering
00:59:57two minutes
00:59:57here
00:59:57well hit
00:59:59really well
01:00:01by Kovacic
01:00:02you can't give him
01:00:03that kind of space
01:00:04in that kind of position
01:00:05firm and true
01:00:07Ipswich
01:00:07nil City
01:00:08too
01:00:09well City
01:00:12lost one of their
01:00:12former managers
01:00:13on Monday
01:00:14when Tony Book
01:00:15passed away
01:00:16at the age of 90
01:00:17former City
01:00:18captain as well
01:00:19won the League Cup
01:00:21with Manchester City
01:00:22in the 70s
01:00:24at a time
01:00:24when City
01:00:25won very little
01:00:26yes there was
01:00:28such a time
01:00:29here's Doku
01:00:30and De Bruyne
01:00:33queuing up
01:00:36in the middle
01:00:36and it's 3-0
01:00:37and it's Phil Foden
01:00:38well Manchester City's
01:00:41win
01:00:42at the King Power
01:00:43against Leicester
01:00:44the other week
01:00:45was their only away
01:00:46victory in their
01:00:47last 10 games
01:00:48on the road
01:00:48in all competitions
01:00:49this one
01:00:51is surely in the bag
01:00:534 minutes shy
01:00:55of half time
01:00:56Ipswich
01:00:57nil
01:00:57Manchester City
01:00:583
01:00:59De Bruyne's
01:01:00little pullback
01:01:01Foden's shot
01:01:04going through
01:01:05Walton
01:01:06and into the back
01:01:07of the Ipswich net
01:01:08for 3
01:01:09nicely done
01:01:15good turn
01:01:18good turn by
01:01:18de lapp
01:01:19options here
01:01:21Hutchinson
01:01:21can send it on
01:01:22again
01:01:22he does
01:01:23to Johnson
01:01:24Johnson
01:01:24and
01:01:27Edison
01:01:27has just about
01:01:29grabbed the rebound
01:01:30from what was a
01:01:30decent save
01:01:31Edison stopped it
01:01:33and then just took a
01:01:34moment to clutch it
01:01:36Manchester City
01:01:38haven't won a
01:01:39Premier League game
01:01:40this season
01:01:40by a margin
01:01:42of greater than
01:01:43three goals
01:01:44here's Doku
01:01:47great little run by
01:01:51Doku
01:01:51and it's 4-0
01:01:52well Ipswich
01:01:55almost pull one
01:01:56back at one end
01:01:57and in the twinkling
01:01:59of an eye
01:01:59Jeremy Doku
01:02:01extends
01:02:02Manchester City's lead
01:02:04at the other end
01:02:04there's a big old
01:02:06deflection
01:02:07off the boot
01:02:07of O'Shea
01:02:08Jack Clark
01:02:14they had moments
01:02:17in the first half
01:02:18Ipswich
01:02:19and Doku finds
01:02:23Haaland
01:02:24and Manchester City
01:02:26are 5-0 up
01:02:27well you feel
01:02:29for them
01:02:30Jack Clark
01:02:31and Ipswich
01:02:32collectively
01:02:33because they are
01:02:35in danger of getting
01:02:36absolutely hammered
01:02:37here
01:02:38particularly if they
01:02:39keep making errors
01:02:40like that
01:02:41this is now
01:02:44jointly
01:02:45the biggest
01:02:46Premier League
01:02:47win of the season
01:02:47for anybody
01:02:48strangely
01:02:49all the 5-0
01:02:51victories have been
01:02:52for away teams
01:02:53Spurs won 5-0
01:02:54at Southampton
01:02:55Liverpool won 5-0
01:02:57at West Ham
01:02:57Manchester City
01:02:59a 5-0 up
01:03:00at Ipswich
01:03:00and County
01:03:01Guardiola
01:03:06Kovacic
01:03:11McAtee
01:03:11made a little run
01:03:12and finishes it
01:03:13beautifully
01:03:14as such a good goal
01:03:18lots of head shaking
01:03:21going on for Ipswich
01:03:22bewitched
01:03:23bothered
01:03:24and bewildered
01:03:25and 6-0 down
01:03:27the delivery
01:03:29from Kovacic
01:03:30is absolutely
01:03:32beautiful
01:03:32and the finish
01:03:33is sublime
01:03:34well that is a goal
01:03:36that there's being
01:03:38watched again
01:03:39and again
01:03:39and again
01:03:39and is getting
01:03:41high praise
01:03:42from the king
01:03:43of goalscorers
01:03:43it is the biggest
01:03:45Premier League win
01:03:46for anybody
01:03:48this season
01:03:48a long time
01:03:51didn't happen
01:03:51I'll be honest
01:03:52so we got
01:03:53some good results
01:03:54lately
01:03:54but our game
01:03:56was not
01:03:56I would say
01:03:57like today
01:03:58and the most important
01:03:59thing of course
01:04:00the result
01:04:00it is
01:04:01to climb a little bit
01:04:03to the table
01:04:03to try
01:04:04because of the
01:04:04qualification
01:04:04for the Champions League
01:04:06and I think
01:04:06the players today
01:04:07they put many
01:04:08many things
01:04:09and hopefully
01:04:09they can be
01:04:10in the beginning
01:04:11a little bit
01:04:12to recognise
01:04:12ourselves
01:04:13and attain
01:04:13to win or lose
01:04:14games
01:04:15and recognise
01:04:15ourselves
01:04:16who we were
01:04:17yeah painful game
01:04:18for us
01:04:18beaten by
01:04:21a world class
01:04:22side
01:04:23and we weren't
01:04:24at our best
01:04:24they were
01:04:25outstanding
01:04:26and when that's
01:04:28the case
01:04:29the golf between
01:04:30us was too much
01:04:30on the day
01:04:31I'm really delighted
01:04:32with the outcome
01:04:33of the game
01:04:34I thought
01:04:35throughout the full game
01:04:36we controlled it
01:04:36really well
01:04:37and look back
01:04:39to ourselves
01:04:39in terms of
01:04:40the possession
01:04:40that we had
01:04:41the build up play
01:04:42I'm really happy
01:04:43with the performance
01:04:44and hopefully
01:04:45we can continue
01:04:46now like this
01:04:46and not drop
01:04:47off again
01:04:48so
01:04:48it can only be
01:04:49a positive
01:04:50winning like this
01:04:50difficult afternoon
01:04:53for Ipswich
01:04:53as far as
01:04:54City are concerned
01:04:56signs
01:04:57within their
01:04:59performance
01:04:59that
01:05:00they're getting
01:05:01back to somewhere
01:05:02where they want
01:05:02to be
01:05:03yeah I think
01:05:04Phil Foden
01:05:04Pep both said
01:05:05it felt more
01:05:06like City performance
01:05:07Pep said in his
01:05:08words
01:05:09they started to do
01:05:10things that have
01:05:10defined the team
01:05:11for the last 10 years
01:05:12they started to do
01:05:13them again
01:05:13and I think that was
01:05:14mainly down to
01:05:15what they did
01:05:17with the wide
01:05:17men I think
01:05:17for the majority
01:05:18of performances
01:05:19this season
01:05:20they've allowed
01:05:21this to happen
01:05:21they've played
01:05:22the ball to
01:05:23the Doku
01:05:23or Savino
01:05:24on the other
01:05:25side of the
01:05:25pitch
01:05:25and they've all
01:05:26kind of left
01:05:27him to try
01:05:27and get on
01:05:27with it
01:05:28and see
01:05:28what they can
01:05:29do
01:05:29and that's
01:05:30how this
01:05:30game started
01:05:31as well
01:05:31people getting
01:05:32into the
01:05:33penalty
01:05:33and Ipswich
01:05:34are happy
01:05:35to double up
01:05:35Jeremy Doku
01:05:36is finding it
01:05:37very difficult
01:05:38but then there
01:05:38suddenly became
01:05:39a switch
01:05:39it was as if
01:05:40they remembered
01:05:40what's made
01:05:41them so good
01:05:41over the last
01:05:42so many years
01:05:43it's that link
01:05:44up
01:05:45it's these clever
01:05:45runs in behind
01:05:46full back
01:05:47Kevin De Bruyne
01:05:47is about to do
01:05:48those kind of
01:05:48runs
01:05:49they're what
01:05:49made Man City
01:05:50excellent
01:05:51Bernardo Silva
01:05:51had been doing
01:05:52them for years
01:05:52Phil Foden
01:05:53you know
01:05:54obviously Kevin
01:05:54De Bruyne
01:05:55are doing them
01:05:55now
01:05:55and that link
01:05:56up between
01:05:57these two
01:05:58Doku and
01:05:59Kevin De Bruyne
01:06:00just happened
01:06:00all day long
01:06:01Ipswich
01:06:02Ben Godfrey
01:06:03just could not
01:06:04deal with it
01:06:04down that side
01:06:05of the pitch
01:06:06and they'll do it
01:06:06once and then
01:06:07they'll pass the
01:06:08ball out
01:06:08suddenly now
01:06:09Doku's got
01:06:09someone to play with
01:06:10just do it again
01:06:11very simple
01:06:11in between
01:06:12those Ipswich
01:06:14players
01:06:14and I think
01:06:15if you've got
01:06:16clever players
01:06:17who remember
01:06:17what it is
01:06:18that they were
01:06:18good at
01:06:19what hurts
01:06:19the opposition
01:06:20you're going
01:06:21to create
01:06:21chances for the
01:06:22likes of
01:06:22Phil Foden
01:06:23City getting
01:06:23forward
01:06:24into those
01:06:24positions
01:06:25and if you
01:06:25keep doing
01:06:25that
01:06:26and you get
01:06:26those runs
01:06:27then suddenly
01:06:27the opposition
01:06:28are now
01:06:28thinking
01:06:29well I'm
01:06:29going to have
01:06:30to stay
01:06:30away from
01:06:30doubling up
01:06:31I'm going
01:06:31to have to
01:06:32stay back
01:06:32and look
01:06:33for those
01:06:33runs
01:06:33and Jeremy
01:06:34Dock who
01:06:35can utilise
01:06:35that space
01:06:36and be
01:06:36clinical
01:06:37and I thought
01:06:37yes there were
01:06:38a lot of good
01:06:39things about
01:06:39Manchester City
01:06:40today that
01:06:40I've seen so
01:06:41often down the
01:06:42years
01:06:42and also
01:06:43some players
01:06:43coming back
01:06:44into form
01:06:44when you look
01:06:45at Phil Foden's
01:06:45numbers since
01:06:46the turn of
01:06:46the year
01:06:47and he's
01:06:48back at it
01:06:49and he's
01:06:49spoken about
01:06:50that himself
01:06:50after the game
01:06:51yeah I mean
01:06:52five goals
01:06:53in the last
01:06:53three games
01:06:54if you look
01:06:55at the first
01:06:55part of the
01:06:56season
01:06:56one in 14
01:06:56and only one
01:06:57assist in that
01:06:58so he's
01:06:59definitely
01:06:59had a change
01:07:00in form
01:07:01since the
01:07:02new year
01:07:02and he will
01:07:02you know
01:07:03want to continue
01:07:04that form
01:07:04if they are
01:07:05to help
01:07:05City climb up
01:07:07the table
01:07:07a little bit
01:07:08they've got a
01:07:08heck of a
01:07:09month or so
01:07:10coming up
01:07:11of City
01:07:12where you look
01:07:12at the fix
01:07:13you've got the
01:07:13rest of the
01:07:14top six
01:07:14and Tottenham
01:07:16who have been
01:07:17difficult opponents
01:07:18for them
01:07:18historically
01:07:19yeah and
01:07:20you know
01:07:21I think City
01:07:22were probably
01:07:22looking for a
01:07:23run of games
01:07:24that could build
01:07:25them back into
01:07:25it and they've
01:07:26got all those
01:07:26big hitting games
01:07:27now
01:07:27they could define
01:07:29their season
01:07:29the way the league
01:07:30goes
01:07:30they've got two
01:07:31big games
01:07:32in PSG
01:07:33and Bruges
01:07:33as well
01:07:34so yeah
01:07:34a really big
01:07:35run of games
01:07:36and if they're
01:07:36in that kind
01:07:37of form
01:07:37though
01:07:37I think
01:07:38they'll start
01:07:38to be alright
01:07:39okay
01:07:40thank you
01:07:41here's the best
01:07:42of the action
01:07:43from yesterday
01:07:44and we will
01:07:44start
01:07:45at Brentford
01:07:46Alexander
01:07:54Arnold
01:07:55Harvey
01:07:57Elliott
01:07:57back here
01:07:58for Alexander
01:07:58Arnold
01:07:59and again
01:08:00and in
01:08:01Darwin
01:08:02Nunez
01:08:03has possibly
01:08:05won it
01:08:05for Liverpool
01:08:06they've had
01:08:08to be patient
01:08:09but going
01:08:10into stoppage
01:08:11time
01:08:11they have
01:08:12found a way
01:08:13through
01:08:13we were
01:08:38close to
01:08:39to again
01:08:40go off
01:08:41without a win
01:08:42and that
01:08:43combined
01:08:43with a late
01:08:43winner
01:08:44was where
01:08:45we're mostly
01:08:45happy about
01:08:46and because
01:08:46it was
01:08:46a significant
01:08:47game
01:08:47it's well
01:08:53played
01:08:54Arsenal
01:08:54into Trossard
01:08:55from Marina
01:08:56across to Martinelli
01:08:58parried away
01:08:59brilliantly
01:08:59was it over
01:09:00the line
01:09:00goal given
01:09:01absolutely
01:09:02beautiful cross
01:09:03from Trossard
01:09:04bending away
01:09:05from the goalkeeper
01:09:06who blocked
01:09:06the initial attempt
01:09:07it's clearly
01:09:08over the line
01:09:08now Trossard
01:09:11cross
01:09:17cross
01:09:17brought
01:09:18into
01:09:18Hammertz
01:09:18and Arsenal
01:09:19have a second
01:09:20Hammertz finished it
01:09:23like a really good
01:09:25striker
01:09:26should finish it
01:09:26long way back
01:09:28for Villa
01:09:28now
01:09:28sprayed out
01:09:31then by
01:09:32Bocart
01:09:32cross from
01:09:35Dinias
01:09:35dangerous
01:09:35and they're back
01:09:36in the game
01:09:37Uri Tillemans
01:09:38with the diving
01:09:38header
01:09:38Arsenal switched
01:09:40off
01:09:40lovely ball
01:09:42from the left
01:09:42hand side
01:09:43look at the
01:09:44space over there
01:09:45though no one
01:09:45was out there
01:09:46with Luca Dinias
01:09:47good goal
01:09:48and he cash
01:09:51dangerous cross
01:09:54back into the
01:09:55mid-air
01:09:55it's 2-2
01:09:56and he Watkins
01:09:57from 2-0
01:09:59down after
01:10:0055 minutes
01:10:01it's 2-2
01:10:02what a comeback
01:10:04battling on
01:10:08Declan Rice
01:10:09couldn't get
01:10:12the ball
01:10:12off in Villa
01:10:13reduces
01:10:14the cross
01:10:14looking for
01:10:15Havertz
01:10:15going to come
01:10:16out here
01:10:16for Marino
01:10:17it's in
01:10:18I think Marino
01:10:21shot deflection
01:10:22off quite
01:10:23Havertz
01:10:23but did he
01:10:24go in
01:10:25off his arm
01:10:25it's going to
01:10:27be disallowed
01:10:28for handball
01:10:28for one angle
01:10:32it doesn't
01:10:32for the other
01:10:33angle
01:10:33it does look
01:10:34like
01:10:35handball
01:10:35it's okay
01:10:36the decision
01:10:37is done
01:10:37we had many
01:10:38other chances
01:10:38that we could
01:10:39have put away
01:10:39very neat
01:10:43from Bournemouth
01:10:44and another
01:10:45good ball
01:10:45Semenyo
01:10:46is on the end
01:10:46of it
01:10:47good pullback
01:10:47as well

01:11:02and it's in
01:11:03Traizy
01:11:06Mike Kepa

01:11:08the captain
01:11:10has levelled
01:11:11it up
01:11:12Bruno Gimaraes
