00:00There's a lot of buzz out there around the chicago bears head coach opening. Apparently they call pittsburgh. Hey

00:16apparently according to that story, this is interesting and we've seen this before over the years that

00:21they at least inquired to see if uh,

00:26Make a deal where they the bears could acquire so to speak mike tomlin

00:31And it's kind of complicated how that works out

00:33But the bottom line is yeah the the steelers are not considering that

00:36By the way that does tell you that how much they want to keep mike tomlin

00:40And that's a story to watch we're going to talk about russell wilson probably tomorrow or next week on pft

00:45But yeah, my feeling has been the same as it's been and we'll focus on ben johnson

00:49They want an offensive head coach. I get it

00:51Because if ben johnson didn't take the job

00:53Okay, and he can't by the way until after the playoffs and if they're not willing to wait

00:57they gotta have somebody else in mind they interviewed mike mccarthy who I know they have an eye on because he's developed quarterbacks, but

01:03Same division. They don't ben johnson very well. They've done their homework on them

01:07This has been the apple of their eye and i've known this for a while now

01:09A lot of reporters have known this it's not a secret the bears want ben johnson

01:13It's not going to be easy. Ben's got a lot of interest. I'm not saying the writers are not an option

01:18But they don't have a quarterback

01:20Caleb williams is a quarterback who we flashed kevin. I know he needs a lot of work

01:25But ben johnson is the quarterback whisperer and offensive whisperer and the job that he's done with jared goff

01:31We have to remember kevin

01:34Jared goff was not wanted by shawn mcveigh. Let's let's call it like it is mcveigh didn't want him anymore

01:38People thought jared goff was washed up

01:40He clearly was not and he's redeveloped a quarterback and done one of the best jobs of developing quarterback that we've seen in a long time

01:46What's interesting though cap is it feels like what would sway ben johnson if he goes to vegas

01:53Would be tom brady

01:55Which is I think a really interesting thing to see the positive impact. Uh, tom might be already having on vegas

02:02If the bears strike out on ben johnson, you know the the updates we constantly get about interviews

02:09They don't seem to be interviewing anybody else

02:12Like ben johnson everybody else was a coach that won a super bowl 15 years ago

02:20Uh, joe brady. I know they just talked to they've looked at some offensive coaches. They've done some defense

02:24To see the way he's explaining me

02:27With the defensive coaches is this kevin?

02:30If you're a defensive coach and you're interviewing with the bears in particular, you better have a detailed plan

02:35To develop their quarterback. The number one issue with the football team is development of caleb williams

02:40And for a guy like pete carroll who by the way, i'm told it's not just was not just

02:44Interested in the the bears job

02:46He also has been looking at other jobs

02:48You better have a detailed plan to develop that quarterback

02:51That is the number one thing going on with that bears team

02:54And by the way, why does ben johnson like that that team and what other?

02:58Coaches on offense like it because it's not just caleb williams. It's cole comet who signed a contract extension

03:04Rome odunze who we've talked a lot about on sports grid since he was drafted and also dj moore's terrific

03:09John dray swift who I didn't know this year for them. They're absolutely loaded on offense decent offensive line. Not great

03:14Still need to kind of build it but it why did I rank them number one guys, you know in my rankings

03:19Which I which I showed you based on conversations with nfl people. It's because the offensive talent and they've got a quarterback
