Flu season and A&E waits: Birmingham’s experiences this winter

With flu season in full swing, we ask Birmingham residents about their experiences with flu this winter. Did they get the flu jab, and how do they feel about current A&E wait times?

00:00Yeah, I've had the flu jab, unfortunately not had the flu, so yeah I'm fine. I've only had a cold, so that's really good.

00:08I've not experienced any wait times, but I know from the news that they are really bad at the moment.

00:14It's the ambulances having to wait outside when they should be going to emergencies and they're not able to get there.

00:21So I've never had flu. I am bunged up with a really bad virus at the moment, but I don't have much faith in the flu jabs

00:28because I know people have had them and have got ill from the jab, then probably not possibly having flu.

00:33And I think with flu there's so many different variants of it, I don't feel like a jab is going to sort you out for all of them.

00:39Yeah, I've got the flu jab, I've got the Covid jab and I was probably one of the first ones to go into the pharmacy to get it.

00:47Waiting times, I can't really say because thankfully I've not experienced that.

00:52I've always been prepared to wait if I did actually need to go to Mayonnaise.
