00:00New figures have shown that almost half of Britons have no confidence that police will
00:06turn up to reports of burglary or car theft.
00:09The poll, which was published by the Liberal Democrats, also reported that 54 per cent
00:14of those over 65 said they would not be confident in the police in this instance.
00:18Further, it was found that one in ten Britons said they actually put off calling 999 because
00:24they could not rely on the response.
00:26The Liberal Democrats have called on ministers to guarantee all domestic burglaries are attended
00:32to and investigated.
00:33A spokesperson for the National Police Chiefs' Council said that
00:37we remain resolutely committed to our attendance policy as this is an important step in improving
00:42detection rates and bringing more offenders to justice.
00:46The focus of initial attendance at residential burglaries is about capturing best evidence
00:51and supporting victims of crime, but there are occasions when an immediate response may
00:56not be possible due to resourcing or appropriate if the resident is away or does not want
01:01us to attend.
01:02But what do you think?
