00:00It's certainly been a cold start to the new year and it looks as if more snow is set to impact parts of the county this week.
00:07A new Yellow Weather Warning for snow and ice will come into force at 3am on Thursday January 9th and last until midday.
00:16Areas affected by the warning include Chorley, Coppel, Croston, Tarleton and Eccleston, as well as parts of Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
00:26Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn, Darwin and Burnley are not covered by the warning, but temperatures are still set to drop to minus 7 degrees.
00:36Rain and sleet is expected at low levels in near coasts, but snow is predicted inland and over higher grounds in the warning areas.
00:45Residents have been urged to prepare for icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, as well as longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
00:55Forecasters also warned injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces were likely.
01:01The UK Health Security Agency has also extended its Cold Weather Health Alert for all of England until midday on Sunday.
01:09The public have been urged to check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours as the cold snap continues.
