People of Glasgow share their thoughts on the energy price cap increase

From January the energy price cap is increasing meaning the average household now pays £1,738 per year. We ask Glaswegians whether they think this is too much and how they’re coping.

00:02The average person in the street is being punished by a very small group of people who

00:08control the oil and the natural gas and I truly don't understand why the governments

00:15everywhere are not trying to prevent that because they're the golden boys, they make

00:20lots of money but the average person in the street is having to pay for all of their big

00:26cars and their way of life and it's very wrong.

00:29I wear gloves in the house because I'm scared to put the electricity on or the heating on.

00:37Green energy is very important but it also needs to be cost effective for the people

00:40especially during a time like this where it costs a living crisis where things are costing

00:44more and more.

00:45It's costing more and more to eat food, it's costing more and more to live so I definitely

00:48don't think we need more expensive energy but it does need to, we do need to lean towards

00:52the eco side so that's going to help in the long run of course, that's very important.
