Shaquil Barrett gets waived by the Miami Dolphins. Did he get off scotch free? Did it hurt the Dolphins?

00:30Not, I mean, not like, like, here, you got too many needs and moving parts to be playing

00:39in a petty game, right? Now, I do believe that you should have some, the player should

00:53have some type of, I don't, I don't want to say punishment, but you can't sign a contract

01:04and then not show up and then want to land softly, right? There should be some ramifications

01:12of that because the team that comes against their cap. Don't you feel as though Shaq Barrett

01:18kind of got off scot-free in this instance, if he does clear away, but here's what I want

01:22to be careful with. I don't know the reasonings behind it, right? But it still hurt the Dolphins.

01:31It hurt the Dolphins. Yes. Or did it, you see what I'm saying? And I think that's the

01:38point where everybody got to is that we're sitting here holding up a roster spot and

01:45money to a guy that how much better he's going to make our team anyway. But what they did

01:53do is basically they stopped him from being able to go make money all year. That's his

02:02punishment. So even if he goes and signs with somebody and clears waivers right now, instead

02:11of the amount of money he was going to make with the Dolphins, he going to make a portion

02:15of that. And who knows what your situation is going to be from here on out anyway. So

02:23could you imagine what they signed for like five, 10 million? I want to say it was 8 million,

02:288 million. No, I was. Yeah. Cause, um, DBJ signed for 3 million. I want to say it was

02:348 million. Oh, BJ. Oh, DBJ. No DBJ. He's making another run in the league, man. You know,

02:40he's going to call this game tomorrow on Sunday. The carpets are doing pretty well. I don't

02:45think he's going to call the game Sunday, uh, for the hurricanes right here on five 60 WQAM

02:50three 30, and then maybe try to get back in the league. Now I want to say Shaq Barrett,

02:54uh, Odell Beckham jr three. And I want to say Shaq Barrett was an $8 million deal.

02:58So think about this 8 million plays. So say 18 weeks, he's made, he was making approximately

03:05750,000, 7 million, 400,000 a week. Right? So now you go from 400,000 a week to now making the

03:19minimum, which is probably about 50 or 60 that's punishment, right? Because if you willing to come

03:30back and go and make 10% or a little more than 10% of what you could have made, that's punishment.

03:41So he's not getting off scot-free. He's not making the 8 million or $7 million he was going to make.

03:48So from that standpoint, maybe the dolphin said, we're going to hold on to his rights as long as

03:55we can. So he can't go out there and get another nice contract to make up for what he, you know,

04:04didn't come and make here. Also made a scramble a little bit. Yeah. But, and here's the other thing,

04:11he's not a $9 million deal. Now it just keeps, it's 9 million. Okay. So

04:16like, yeah, right. So it was 500, 500 K. So imagine going from 500 K to, to a hundred,

04:24you know, let's put it in layman's terms. You make a thousand a week. You ain't happy with

04:30your job. Your job won't release you. Then when they release you, you can only make 500 a week.

04:36Yeah. You see what I mean? Yeah. That's, that, that's, that's, that's pain. That's,

04:41that's the pain in itself. So it got to the point where like, maybe the dolphin said,

04:47we're not going to just let you go and, and, and, and, and go in on and resume your play without

04:53some financial penalty. And that's the financial penalty right there.

04:58Well, we'll see what happens with Shaq Barrett. If he does clear waivers tomorrow,

05:01he will be eligible to play for every team in the NFL.
