00:00We got an update on the ongoing surveillance of the Department of Health

00:05on the number of firework-related injuries this upcoming new year.

00:10Alan Francisco is in the center of the news.

00:14Angelique, as of December 27, at 6 a.m. earlier,

00:19more than 101 firework-related injuries were reported in the country

00:25that were reported by the Department of Health.

00:27In the program Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,

00:29DOH spokesperson Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said

00:34that the largest number of fireworks were reported in Metro Manila,

00:38followed by Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, Western Visayas,

00:43while in the top five are Ilocos Region and Central Visayas.

00:48Angelique, the main source of illegal fireworks,

00:51despite the five-star apiculo being the quitties,

00:56which is legal but included in the types of fireworks,

00:59including firecracker-related incidents.

01:02Most of the fireworks, Angelique, are the ones who are actively involved

01:07while some are just fireworks.

01:09According to ASEC Domingo,

01:12five to 14-year-old children are often the victims of fireworks.

01:17This means that parents should advise their children not to fireworks.

01:24Five percent of the fireworks were caused by amputation

01:28or the part of the body was cut due to the fireworks.

01:32Aside from this, the health spokesperson said

01:35that there could be temporary loss or temporary injury due to the fireworks.

01:40Whenever a fire breaks out,

01:42running water is used to go to the nearest hospital.

01:47At the same time, she repeatedly reminded

01:50to avoid eating during New Year celebrations.
