00:00The mixed bag is brought to you by hurt feelings
00:06What do you got for us today froggy
00:08That because of the fracas or is there other hurt feelings?
00:12No, I mean my feelings are hurt that he lost my McDaniels feelings are hurt. All right, that's fair
00:19That is fair indeed. And you know what? Why don't we start there in our mixed bag today? Okay
00:26Michael
00:29McDaniel
00:31I'll buy the full name from now on you don't get Mike you get Mike when you know, we're cool. We're buddies
00:39Everything's cute and funny you lose games when we need the most you're Michael now
00:46Unfortunately, one of the reasons why the Dolphins weren't able to get it done was the poor
00:53Run game and the poor blocking
00:57This is Mike McDaniel addressing how poor the blocking was and how it led to a poor run game
01:03You know, I think this particular game
01:07you know, I don't think was up to the standard and the regardless of
01:13Who whoever's in there? I think guy I think everyone's very very aware after
01:21Today's meetings that that that is not
01:24Anything that we want Miami Dolphins football to look like I I think
01:31You know
01:33Our competitors in the running back room
01:36You know want to want to do better with the looks that are given but last night. I didn't I didn't think I
01:43didn't think that they're really giving a
01:47Their yards per carry doesn't do them justice, I thought I thought our blocking wasn't good enough and
01:54so then the focus is
01:57Specifically on you know this week and how to improve that
02:02and
02:04Anything beyond that?
02:06You know as conversation
02:09Hyperbole or whatever
02:11But we we need to get it better fast because we we the same problem will present itself
02:17if we allow it to
02:19This week against the 49ers. I
02:23Got an idea
02:26Just a thought
02:29Do we not play Eichenberg anymore watch Isaiah
02:34Let's just try it on for size
02:36Let's wear the shoe around the store for a little bit put Isaiah win in a right guard
02:40Just try it out
02:41See if this bum doesn't give up sack after sack and pressure after pressure see if he can actually get some push up front
02:48Why don't we try somebody else there instead of this guy who's got one move, which is to aggravate defenders?
02:57Here comes another one of these conversations that I just hate
03:03Every offensive lineman
03:08Does not have the ability to play multiple positions because you have injuries
03:15It hinders what you can and can't do some offensive lineman can only play one position
03:21I know one who can't play any of them
03:24Okay, and what are your options? But Isaiah winning? He's off. I are put him in
03:32Try something different see if you find a little mixy-mix stop putting that guy out there. He sucks. I have a question. Sure
03:42Sometimes your best isn't good enough
03:46So if they put an offensive lineman in there
03:51Just to be a little different, but you know damn well, he ain't as good as what you have in there
03:57Is he not as good or do they keep or they keep trying to find a place for a pick that sucks
04:04They've tried every position with this guy he's not good at any of them
04:09Gives no effort
04:10He's he's on the floor at all times
04:12The only thing that he does is badger people and poke people in the eyes
04:15You took Zack sealer away from us for two weeks. Don't think I don't know that was you Liam
04:22Everybody's covered for you
04:24What if
04:26Just call me crazy. Why don't we try the guy who was good last year? He was hurt this year
04:32Why don't we put him out there? See if it just works better. What do you got to lose dude?
04:37What are you gonna do average two yards of carry?
04:40again
04:42Seriously, what are the ramifications you're making it sound? What are the ramifications of it? They can't run the ball
04:48Okay, I understand that so
04:50When was the right guard he was the left guard last year before you left guard last year, right?
04:55Yeah, you want him to move him to right guard?
04:59You don't think that that's no big deal. No, he's a vet
05:05They did it with I can burn out I'm not arguing with you about this because you have no idea what you're talking about just
05:12Have a guy
05:15It's probably a better guard. Mm-hmm a left guard
05:20They put Robbie Jones over the right flip on over. That's a whole nother conversation
05:26Explaining you how every offensive lineman can't play every position get I can
05:33Guys that you have on your team that you can move around like that
05:37Get off and all the injuries and stuff like that you have what you have get them off the field
05:45What if they know that the person they replace I can burn with his word?
05:49They've been talking up this
05:52It's the same thing our exposure does with Kevin love he did they get they get caught they think it's gonna work out
05:59They think it's he's not gonna be a dolphin after this year move on
06:03I
06:05Okay, been averaging been averaging off fart every carry, okay
06:12It's a move point, you know, he stinks right Leroy
06:15Like yes, I was the first one that say well hugs across America. That's this
06:22Defending this why can't you get up? Listen, how come nobody here's what I hate when people watch football and say hey
06:28Let's get somebody else in there. You don't know if the other guys better they do
06:33a resume
06:38Why you pick on I can so does Kevin love you want to know I think I like it
06:43Kevin loves got a
06:45Kevin loves got a resume Kevin loves old and I said the exact stuff that you're making my point for me
06:50No, I'm not coaches get stubborn
06:52Coaches get stubborn and thinking that they know a system way better than they can actually provide production
06:57If that's exactly my point if that's the case, they would they would move I can Berg. It's not the case
07:02I'm telling you the exact point is coaches get stubborn and thinking that a move is gonna work out or they're too afraid of
07:09The failure of another move when it could actually end up being more productive you think they'd rather be safe
07:16Can I ask you a question sure
07:19So what you're telling me right now is that a coach
07:26Would rather
07:28Be right and lose
07:30Then be wrong and win. I'm telling you a coach a coach would rather lessen the risk of known
07:37Than the risk of the unknown
07:40But it potentially working out for him. You're assuming that they that it's the unknown. That's what I'm saying
07:48Like you think if they had any other option other than Liam Eikenberg, he would be in there
07:53Then why is he still on the team dude?
07:55He sucked at three other positions you've made the same argument for me every piss every every year
07:59He moves to a new position and sucks at that position. You made the same argument about this guy. You know what?
08:06He is
08:07You have one or two of these guys on your team
08:11He is a guy that can play multiple positions on the offensive line and didn't well didn't say he was good
08:18Okay, but nobody else can
08:20So you have to play him
08:24because you don't have any other options because
08:27Everybody's banged up and also Marcos. It's not comparable to Drew Smith at all
08:36It's not
08:37One guy is one guy has been a starter you and a top high pick his entire career
08:43The other guy is literally an end of the roster guy who is now flourishing with his chance
08:49It couldn't be any more the opposite of Liam Eikenberg your horse's ass
08:5642nd overall is a bad high of it's pretty high dude. It's pretty high over seven rounds
09:02Hey, so wow, he was big before me
09:11But again you like it's hard like
09:15Just sick of them it's hard is hard
09:19explain
09:20That and I try to explain this to you a lot
09:23That there are certain guys that make the team because they have the flexibility of playing multiple position
09:29It might not it might not necessarily be his best position
09:32But one of the reasons why you see I can burn all over the line of scrims with all of the injuries that they've had
09:39In the last couple years I can Berg is the one guy they can move around
09:45His best position is gonna be when he's coach I can Berg
09:47All right
09:48When he's coach I can Berg for Notre Dame and he's coaching their own line goes don't worry guys
09:52I played every position none of them. Well, but I'll teach you I
09:57Don't know why I made him sound like that. I think he's like from Indiana or something like that, but you guys
10:02so my suggestion is
10:05Who would you like to have been there instead? I just told you who?
10:09Isaiah put Isaiah went on team either put Robert Jones over it right or put Isaiah went right flip the guards
10:17You can't just I'm out of there. You can't just switch sides with offensive linemen. Why not, dude?
10:26Never mind, let's move on
10:29Like it's it's it's he says I have a Rolodex of empty excuse dude every offensive
10:35Every offensive lineman can't play every position
10:39Okay, that's when you say often. No, it's not a problem. It's a fact. No, it's a twist you want on it
10:46So I put you got you guys say we have 10 offensive linemen. You want to just move them around?
10:51Everybody can't play especially on the opposite side
10:56Just one that's not as easy as you're making it sound
10:59I just want to take that bum and get him off the field
11:04He stinks
11:07I'm tired of it. I'm tired of us fitting a round peg into a square hole and you're willing to risk at
11:15Coming in might be worse. You're right. Can I ask you a real a genuine question? Cuz I love you
11:21How could it be worse is he gonna give up
11:26Leave me when I tell you he was literally worse. He was worse than a guy off the street last week
11:33Okay
11:36Carmen San Diego was better than him last
11:39Who the hell was that guy playing right tackle I trust him more than I can
11:47Conversation from experience and you're having a conversation from wherever the hell you're having
11:54It's not as easy as you think to be moving offensive linemen all over the place
11:58You only have maybe two or three guys that can do that, right?
12:05They moved him around it really worked out. I'm not saying it worked out
12:10I'm saying but that's what their options are
12:15Like just because okay. Guess what? Mm-hmm here. I'll give you a perfect example. I'll give you a perfect example of this
12:23Okay, when?
12:25Who's the?
12:26left tackle for Baltimore the Hall of Famer
12:31Jonathan Ogden when he first got into the league, he was a guard. Mm-hmm, right Denny was uh, so it was tonsil, right?
12:39They were really good. Mm-hmm, really really good. So you had to get him on the field
12:45But they still played on the same side of the ball
12:49Okay, you understand what I'm saying?
12:50He played left guard then moved to left tackle when you take somebody like Patrick Paul
12:55I always said, oh if he's good as everybody says then he could probably play guard until
13:04Until um
13:06So Armstead's knees fall off until Armstead's out right and then you could just move him to tackle
13:12Clearly he must not be that versatile
13:15Because they've never tried him at any other position like it happens
13:21Every got no matter how good the offensive lineman is
13:24It doesn't automatically mean that you can play a different position on the field
13:29So now you got Patrick Paul plays left tackle. He might be one of your top five best
13:35Lineman, he really might be his problem is he's backing up one of the best if not the best
13:43So that's a perfect example of why listen if I take my five best five best lineman and
13:52Two of them play the same position
13:54Ideally, you would like to try to move them over so you can get them all on the field
13:59But if it doesn't work
14:02It doesn't work so just because
14:07Liam Eikenberg might not be one of your top five guys
14:11And
14:12Patrick Paul might be
14:14Patrick Paul can't play any of the positions that Liam Eikenberg plays
14:19So Patrick Paul's on the bench Liam Eikenberg's playing
14:24It's not as easy you say oh just move to the right move him to the left
14:27But I'm not saying that like I'm talking about a veteran guard who's been in the league
14:31Like I'm not talking about a rookie dude still doesn't mean that you can move. Okay. Well, let's continue to average two yards of carry
14:37But why you trivializing this and say oh just switch sides it is not that easy I keep telling you that okay, I
14:46Don't know why you think but you made the same
14:49But you've made the same argument with this player
14:51You've made the same argument with me about obviously they know something because they keep putting him out there
14:56They keep trying about new positions and sometimes reversal and it's not worked out not at one of them
15:01I'm telling you what it is. He is
15:05One of maybe one or two guys that can play multiple positions on the offensive line
15:10So guess what when somebody gets hurt Liam Eikenberg, that's what they go to
15:15Okay. Well, when does he get when does he get to suffer consequences of sucking at his job when they have another option? Okay
