00:00First, I just wanted to gauge your general, I'll call it, interest in the sports betting
00:08space and what drove you to this sort of project and what are some of the goals you were hoping
00:13to highlight through the show?
00:16Well, I have SportsGrid on my radio in the car.
00:20Really?
00:21Oh, yeah.
00:22Oh, yeah.
00:23I know all those guys.
00:24I mean, I've been, you know, part of this scene forever.
00:28So obviously, I have a large affinity for it.
00:32And I think over the course of the bookie process, Chuck is pretty immersed now, too.
00:37So you know, you can't write a show like this without educating yourself.
00:44And we've tried our hardest to make it inoffensive to those on the wise guy side of things.
00:51We have done a lot of research, talked with bookies all over the country, and tried to
00:58be an honest reflection of what they do for a living as that living goes away, as that
01:04profession evaporates with legalized gambling.
01:08Awesome.
01:09So just right into my next question, I want to hear about the research on how you guys
01:14gain all this knowledge of the bookie end of it.
01:16So you already said that you guys were talking to bookies all over the country to gain as
01:21much knowledge as possible.
01:22So were there any fun and creative stories you guys got from these bookies that you want
01:27to share?
01:28Well, my favorite line, which is actually in the second season is, you know, a good
01:35bookie doesn't take his guy to the cleaners, it doesn't wipe them out.
01:39He takes him to the cleaners one shirt at a time.
01:44He bleeds them.
01:46And there's a great deal of humor amongst these these guys.
01:51And no one really wants to tell you anything about money laundering.
01:58Although we did manage to get one line in there where a character says, cryptocurrency,
02:03or as I like to call it, money laundering.
02:08We had a relationship with, I have had a guy for years who sadly passed away after season
02:14one.
02:15But, you know, he was source of endless stories before this show.
02:19I have a long history with my guy.
02:22And he's actually one of the cards at the end of the show is him leaving a message on
02:26my phone.
02:27I was like, hey, it's your favorite bookmaker, give me a call.
02:31You know, it's like, but he had, he introduced us to tons of stories.
02:36We had a lot of guys, we did a lot more.
02:38We talked to another guy who really was an inspiration for the whole Costa Rica part
02:43of the series, which is a big, a big, it's a billion dollar enterprise.
