00:00During the civil war in Mozambique, a lot of the infrastructure broke down and people turned to the wildlife for food.
00:07And so it was almost devoid of wildlife.
00:09Today, after literally 25 years of anti-poaching efforts, of conservation efforts, the area is truly thriving.
00:18All of the species that used to occur there have come back in great numbers.
00:21However, the apex predator battled to come back. There just wasn't a viable population to come back.
00:30And so in 2018, alongside the Cabela Family Foundation, lions were reintroduced into this ecosystem.
00:3624 lions, which today number just a little bit less than 70.
00:40So one of the largest landscape recoveries, but also one of the largest successful apex predator reintroductions on the planet.
