00:10her for alleged abandonment of office.
00:16In South Korea, members of President Jun Suk-kyo's party walked out of parliament ahead of an
00:21impeachment vote scheduled for Saturday over his attempt to impose martial law.
00:28In Romania, Kalin Jurgicu, winner of the first round of presidential elections, will contest
00:32the decision invalidating them and confirms that he will also run in the new elections
00:37which have not yet been scheduled.
00:45Hello and welcome from the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Telestucio studios
00:49in Havana, Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news.
00:51We begin in Peru, President Dilma Rousseff ruled out resigning after the opening of an
01:08investigation against her for alleged abandonment of office.
01:12The Peruvian president ratified that she will complete her term of office, which expires
01:16on July 28, 2026, saying that the possibility of her resignation is not in her plans.
01:21In this regard, the Public Prosecutor's Office opened a preliminary investigation against
01:25Boluarte for alleged crimes of omission of functional acts and alternatively abandonment
01:30of office between June 29 and July 9, 2023, when she underwent a plastic surgery.
01:37To this must be added the fact that during her term in office, Boluarte raised her historic
01:41laws in popular approval.
01:48A survey carried out in September and made public on Sunday confirmed that the rejection
01:52of the administration of the president of Peru, Dilma Boluarte, continues to increase.
01:57According to the survey, 92% of citizens disapprove the performance of the head of state, while
02:02the figure of acceptance is 5% of those voted.
02:06In the last month, the country has been shaken by crimes and extortions that the current
02:09executive is unable to manage.
02:12These figures are released after two days of strikes by the transportation workers,
02:15who have called for a national strike of all sectors and on Saturday announced the
02:20rupture of the dialogue with the legislators due to the refusal of Congress to repeal Law
02:243108 and to file the law on urban terrorism.
02:34In Colombia, the persecution and attacks suffered by young people during the social outbursts
02:37of 2019 continues.
02:39That is why they do not stop mobilizing.
02:41Let's see the following report.
02:44Joana González is a 26-year-old activist who is demonstrating in front of the Congress
02:51of the Republic in search of answers and guarantees for the disappearance of her sister Lisette,
02:57with whom she created the project Punto Renacer, a community communication collective to make
03:03visible social problems in the country.
03:08In the framework of all this, they made an invitation to my sister, they made an invitation
03:14to us to cover a mobilization.
03:16This mobilization was for the commemoration of April 28th, which was being commemorated
03:22one year after the national strike of 2021.
03:26And it was under the premise that she would be back in 15 days.
03:34But Lisette did not return, just like many other young people.
03:38Her disappearance is part of a reality that many young activists have faced, and in which
03:42many others have suffered persecution for years, as is the case of young Alejandro Hernández,
03:48a front-line protester during the 2019 social outburst, who was held by the police and deprived
03:55of his freedom for almost 19 months.
03:59We have to take into account that it has not only been a persecution by the state, but
04:06also a stigmatization, because we are branded as vandals, as guerrillas, and so on.
04:12I was in a village in an activity of memory in a massacre that took place in La Pedregosa,
04:19in Cauca.
04:24And I was kidnapped for the second time, because first I was kidnapped by the state, and the
04:28second time here, with these armed criminal forces on the margin of the law.
04:33I was kidnapped for three days by them.
04:35So there has been persecution from all sides.
04:45Despite this, young Alejandro continues to fight for his rights, just as he did when
04:50he took to the streets in 2019 to show his dissatisfaction with the health system because
04:56of a surgery he had been denied after a long process.
05:00Just like him, Daniela Cárcamo, who went out for the first time as an activist, continues
05:06to mobilize to make her voice heard and ask for her rights and those of other Colombians
05:11to be respected.
05:15People are too afraid to exercise their rights.
05:18People are afraid to even write a right of petition.
05:21Imagine how afraid people are to march.
05:24But the message to everyone would be that if you can, come with us, because that makes
05:29them attack us less.
05:30It makes the police respect us more.
05:32I remember that the indigenous collectives accompanied us after they saw that the police
05:37were beating us all over the place and shooting rubber bullets and all kinds of artifacts.
05:42The indigenous collectives accompanied us, and then the mothers came out, and then all
05:47the people came out.
05:48The police no longer felt they had the power to harm us.
05:57Daniela asks the population to accompany the young people to the streets to fight for their
06:02rights, but above all, not to stigmatize them.

06:09In a news in Venezuela, the government declared to the world its own Bolivarian military doctrine,
06:13stressing that it is not imperialist nor an imitation of anyone.
06:17During a work meeting with the military commanders of the higher and tactical units of the Bolivarian
06:21National Armed Forces, President Nicolás Maduro affirmed that thanks to the efforts
06:25of each of the elements that make up the troops of the Bolivarian Revolution, the country
06:29was able to have its own military doctrine without foreign influence.
06:33Likewise, the Venezuelan head of state recalled that 26 years ago, Commander Hugo Chávez
06:38was appointed president of the country under the vote of the people, initiating a new stage
06:42in the 21st century.
06:44The president also announced that next December 9th, the country will commemorate the 200th
06:49anniversary of the great victory of Ayacucho, remembering as a historical moment in the
06:54Latin American continent.
07:00Because if there is something that Venezuela can say today with absolute clarity and firmness
07:10before the whole world, is that Venezuela has its own military doctrine.
07:21It is not foreign.
07:22It is not imperialist.
07:23It is not imposed.
07:24It is not an imitation of anyone.
07:27It is our military doctrine.
07:29It is our strategic concept of defense.
07:31It is our strategic concept of defense.
07:37We now have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on Tiktok at El Esplendor
07:41English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
07:45We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:58Welcome back.
08:07Cuba prepares to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of relations with the
08:10Caribbean community, CARICOM.
08:12At the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, the head of state ratified his country's support
08:16and solidarity with his Caribbean neighbors before their representatives.
08:20This December 8th, Cuba commemorates friendship with the brotherly peoples of the Caribbean
08:25During the meeting with the 14 representatives created in Cuba, the President, in addition
08:29to conveying an affectionate greeting from Army General Raul Castro Ruz, thanked the
08:34Caribbean solidarity.
08:41This is an occasion to thank you on behalf of the Cuban people and government for the
08:45constant support of CARICOM to Cuba in all international forums.
08:49Your open opposition to the economic block of the United States against our country,
08:53which has remained unchanged over time.
08:55The support and gestures of political and material solidarity aid to the Cuban people
09:00by the United States before the difficult circumstances that our nation lives, and more
09:05recently before the affectations caused by earthquakes and hurricanes.
09:10In a landmark operation in the Caucedo port near Santo Domingo, Dominican authorities
09:14seized 9.5 tons of cocaine, marking the largest drug bust in the country's history.
09:20The second biggest seizure on record was reported in 2006, when officials found more than 5,680
09:26pounds.
09:27On this occasion, the cocaine was hidden within two shipping containers filled with bananas.
09:32According to police authorities, the shipment came from Guatemala and was destined for Belgium.
09:37The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is around $250 million.
09:43Authorities have arrested 10 individuals linked to this operation.
09:46So far in 2024, Dominican law enforcement has confiscated nearly 47 tons of illegal
09:51drugs.
09:58In South Korea, members of President Jun Suk-kyo's party walked out of Parliament ahead of an
10:03impeachment vote scheduled for Saturday over his attempt to impose martial law.
10:07As lawmakers debated the motion filed by the main opposition Democratic Party, only one
10:11of Jun's People Power Party members remained in his seat, raising doubts about whether
10:17the measure would reach the two-thirds threshold to pass because the opposition needs at least
10:21eight PP votes.
10:23In this context, opposition leaders have said that if the impeachment motion fails, they
10:27plan to take it up again on Wednesday.
10:36The South Korean President Jun Suk-kyo apologized Saturday hours before the vote.
10:41In his brief speech, President Jun Suk-kyo offered his apologies to the people of Korea,
10:45but did not offer to resign, merely saying that he wouldn't trust the party with measures
10:49to stabilize the political situation, including his mandate.
10:53Meanwhile, the opposition party had called for his resignation while tens of thousands
10:57of protesters took to the streets before the vote.
11:06Regarding the stabilization of the political situation, including the remainder of my term,
11:11I will entrust this entirely to our party.
11:15Moving forward, the administration of state affairs will be a shared responsibility between
11:20the party and the government.
11:22Once again, I deeply apologize for the concern and distress I have caused you.
11:31And South Koreans reacted to President Jun's speech.
11:38Jun labels those who disagree with him as pro-North Korea and has even gone so far as
11:43to declare martial law, causing widespread anxiety among the public.
11:47At this point, I just want him to step down voluntarily rather than go through with the
11:52impeachment proceedings.
11:58Whether impeachment occurs or not, the public will not forgive him.
12:02I believe it's too late.
12:04It's already too late, as university students, professors, citizens, and the religious communities
12:11have all taken a stand.
12:13Even if he apologized, I personally don't feel much impact anymore.

12:41Welcome back.
12:42In Romania, Karin Iorgescu, winner of the first round of the presidential elections,
12:47would contest the decision invalidating them and confirmed that he would also run in the
12:52new elections, which have not yet been scheduled.
12:54Several days after the election, the country's presidency declassified a document proving
12:59alleged cyber-attacks.
13:00It also accused the candidate, after the result was known, of having declared zero campaign
13:04expenses.
13:05These declarations attributed to the current president, Klaus-Ioan Hanis, were accompanied
13:10by rumors about his departure from the country.
13:12However, on Saturday, he declared from Romania that he would contest the court decision and
13:17will continue to compete for the truth in the yet-to-be-rescheduled elections.
13:24The United Nations denounces the escalation of Israel's campaign against the United Nations
13:49Relief and Works Organization for Palestine Refugees.
13:53Through a communiqué, the entity condemned the use of billboards in several cities around
13:57the world and paid advertisements on the Google platform in multiple websites to discredit
14:02the UNRWA.
14:04It also denounced that the Tel Aviv regime persists in its campaign with communicational
14:08tools to brand the organization as terrorist.
14:11Furthermore, the UN recalled that to date, at least 251 UNRWA employees have been killed
14:16in the coastal enclave and two-thirds of its buildings have been bombed during the
14:20Israeli aggressions.
14:26The Lebanese government met with army commanders to assess the plan to deploy forces south
14:32of the Litani River.
14:33Interim Prime Minister Yim Mikadi led the meeting with military forces in the city of
14:37Tire.
14:38Authorities reviewed and approved the operational plan prepared by the army command to implement
14:42the deployment of forces in the area.
14:45This in the framework of a ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese resistance movement
14:48Hezbollah after almost 14 months of cross-border fire.
14:52The Lebanese Interim Prime Minister recalled that the main objective is to advance in the
14:56reconstruction of the south in order to achieve stability in the Middle East region.
15:06The stability in the south and its reconstruction is the key to the stability in the Middle
15:10East region, to which security and safety will return only through the implementation
15:16of international resolutions and the protection of our homeland, land, and sovereignty.
