UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting was "not a random act of violence," NYPD says

00:00In midtown Manhattan early this morning, 50-year-old Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare,

00:06was shot and killed in what appears, at this early stage of our investigation, to be a

00:11brazen targeted attack.

00:14This does not appear to be a random act of violence.

00:17It appears the suspect was lying in wait for several minutes.

00:22And as the victim was walking to the conference hotel, the suspect approached from behind

00:27and fired several rounds, striking the victim at least once in the back and at least once

00:33in the right calf.

00:34I want to be clear.

00:36At this time, every indication is that this was a premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack.
