00:00My name is Joanne Brophy and we are at Kirkstall Valley Development Trust which
00:05is held in St Stephen's Hub at Kirkstall. Hookers and Clickers is a group of
00:11people who are changing the world one stitch at a time and every stitch is
00:17filled with love and overall we've looked after 97 charities and we've made
00:23over a hundred and thirty thousand items for those charities and we make
00:28everything for free. We raise the money for the yarn, we spend our time making
00:35things and then we post it or go and visit the charities if it's very local
00:39and drop the things off. As we all know the older people are not getting as much
00:44money as they would towards the heating so charities such as Harmony Helping
00:50Hands have come to us, Hartlepool Baby Bank, Leeds Baby Bank, they're all needing
00:55now to keep older people, families, young families warm so lots of hats and
01:00gloves and scarves and family-sized blankets they can wrap themselves up in.
01:05We've had so much we've had to say no to some people because we just don't have
01:08the number of people to make the amount that is needed. You know if we had some
01:14more people making we'd be able to do it but we've had a lot of demand and it is
01:18simply because it's money, it's heating bills, it really has a knock-on effect so
01:24we're quite pleased we can do even though it's only a tiny bit we're doing
01:29something to help people in that respect. We've done lots of twiddle muffs and
01:33cannula sleeves which help disabled autistic people when they're having
01:39cannulas fitted so they don't fiddle with them. We need people who are
01:42actually going to make things for the charities. The more people we've got the
01:46more charities we can help and nowadays it's just we need it just more and
01:52we need to keep going there's no way this group can fold especially for the
01:56ladies you know they need it as much as the charities need it.
