Park Lane Market enters Glasgow City Centre at the Social Hub for a Christmas event

We speak to Harry from the Park Lane Market which has just launched its first edition at the Social Hub for a Christmas shopping market.

00:06Park Lane Market. We're at the Social Hub today. I'm celebrating our first ever Christmas market

00:12here. So we've got a bunch of different traders from pottery to art to jewellery. So I think we've

00:18got about 18 traders outside. We've also got a vintage stalls inside as well where we're doing

00:23vintage kind of clothing and like it's called secondhand wonderland. So it's kind of like a

00:27collaboration of two different markets. So partly it's a bit more arts and crafts and

00:31secondhand is a bit more kind of clothes and like a more vintage stuff as well. So we've got some

00:35really good brands such as like Iola, Cherry Vintage. We've also got, which is probably my

00:40favourite, but I'm not allowed to say that, but the guys from Potter, which is like a design pot,

00:45which was on the Chelsea Flower Show and won like best design of the year as well. So pretty cool,

00:50pretty cool stuff here today as well. So yeah, we're celebrating Christmas, being merry and yeah,

00:54having a good time. So Park Lane Market is actually seven years today. So we've been

00:58going for about seven years old. Started in Shorelands for a way for us to, I don't know,

01:04help kind of creatives and people to do art, kind of like sell their wares. It started as a bit of

01:07fun to be honest. It seems to have been popular and it's been relatively organic and like our job

01:12effectively is to kind of give creatives and like arts and crafts like a platform to kind of sell

01:16their wares for a pretty decent price. So Social Hub's like a bunch of like hubs all around Europe.

01:22So this is the first one in the UK, which is in Glasgow, obviously, because we're in Glasgow.

01:26And yeah, the reason why I wanted to do it here is like, I think everything about Social Hub was

01:31like organic, obviously they're a B Corp. I kind of just, I really like the ethics and kind of how

01:35they, what they stand for and like, Glasgow's always needed investment. And I think for someone

01:40to kind of bring something, which is kind of hybrid hospitality into Glasgow, which is like

01:47a mixture of like, obviously you've got hotel, you've got student halls, you've got co-working,

01:51you've got food and beverage as well. So it's like, it just brings all types of hospitality

01:54together as well. And I just kind of feel Glasgow's been kind of needed something where it's like a

01:58hub where everyone from different walks of life can come and meet and kind of hang out and socialise

02:01and just kind of create somewhere like kind of culturally relevant for people to just kind of

02:06like, I don't know, socialise and like share minds and be creative together. And it just kind of felt

02:11like the great place to kind of do the market. Obviously they have the amazing courtyard here.

02:14So, and I do market, so I'm kind of so much made in heaven, I'd say. And it's our first one in the

02:20city centre. Actually our second one in the city centre, but the first one in city centre is outside.

02:23So yeah. Plans for here are, we're going to be doing a monthly market. So it'll be the last

02:28Saturday of every month by the end of March, which we'll run through. So my dog squealing, Mimi,

02:34shut it. End of every month. So like last Saturday of every month from March till the end of the year.

02:40So March to December. So like 10 dates effective as well. We'll probably do a few other kind of

02:46bits and bobs in the middle of it. We're using the auditorium from like arts markets

02:50and like kind of like more kind of curation, exhibitions and stuff as well. But

02:53regarding the market, it'll be like, we'll do one. Yeah.
