We try the rides at Glasgow’s Christmas Markets 2024.

00:00So today we are off to Winterfest, the Christmas market.

00:07We are at the Christmas markets in George Square, they have just opened.

00:10We're going to go explore and show you around.

00:13It's the second year of Winterfest.

00:15We're going to go have some food, go on a few rides, see what happens.

00:19Come on!

00:20Let's get festive!

00:23So we've got obviously like traditional pieces.

00:26We've got the vintage carousel.

00:28We've got the wave swinger, these are the swings just behind us.

00:31We've got the giant wheel.

00:33And then we've got some thrill rides per se.

00:36We've got the booster max, which is 60 metres high velocity speeds.

00:40That's good.

00:41And then we've got this rock tower.

00:43That's 80 metres tall.

00:45It's the only ride in the UK of this similar stature.

00:48I went on it twice on Sunday and it was phenomenal.

00:53So we're sitting here in the bar area with some mulled wine.

00:57In previous years, if I had mulled tonic wine in here, it was Eldorado, I believe.

01:04Now I'm not sure if this is Eldorado again or Buckfast or anything,

01:09but let me tell you, it's putting me in the festive spirit.

01:13So far it's been fantastic.

01:15We just went on the swings there and they were great.

01:18I don't know if we're brave enough to go on that.

01:21We might go on the big wheel.

01:23What else? We're going to try some of the food as well.

01:26Lots of good options.

01:28And then we've got a couple of kids' rides in the corner.

01:32And we've got loads of variations of stalls.

01:35We've got food, we've got crafts, we've got the bar, we've got the ice skating.

01:40And then, yeah.

01:41So far it's been fantastic.

01:48That's really us.

01:49So Celtic are playing Bruges today,

01:51and all the Bruges fans have come here to make it their wee hub before the game.

01:57So they were all singing and dancing in the bar area.

02:00But it was all a great laugh.

02:02All the fans were singing together, weren't they?

02:05So it's all good.

02:07So these are the Christmas markets.

02:09Right now we're on the Fenes wheel.

02:11You get a great view of Basque at the top.

02:14We've been on the swings.

02:16We've had a look about.

02:17We've had a drink.

02:19We mulled wine since it's Christmas after all.

02:23You see this thing here.

02:25I don't think we're quite brave enough to go in that, nor the bomber.

02:28I think the swings are enough for us.

02:44I think the company that are behind it have really found their feet this year.

02:48It's their second year doing it.

02:50So I think there's a bit more variety in everything.

02:54You can come here and not spend a lot of money as well.

02:56There's a lot of entertainment, live music, that kind of thing.
