00:12The announcement today is the completion of the viaduct which is this elevated bridge.
00:17The completed 23km route will connect parts of Western Sydney from as far as Bradfield

00:25The Metro line to the airport costs twice as much as the new airport, but this is much
00:30needed public transport infrastructure.
00:33It's the latest update to the Western Sydney Airport Metro.
00:37The 3.2km bridge will run between Orchard Hills and the new 15m elevated Ludnum station.
00:44There'll be roads here when it opens, there'll be a car park, there'll be a bus interchange,
00:48bike parking facilities, kiss and ride facilities.
00:51The idea, to turn this farmland into a suburban neighbourhood by 2026.
00:58You'll see thousands of homes turning into communities with schools and open spaces.
01:04And while the government's keen to highlight the progress it's making on this Metro rail
01:08line, it has still not reached a deal with the rail union which would avert a city wide
01:14train strike.
01:15We're hopeful of a breakthrough, I think there's enough goodwill in the room to get one, but
01:19it would be irresponsible of me to say we're on the cusp of announcing it, we're not.
01:24This afternoon the unions praised the Premier's department, but criticised Transport for NSW.
01:31We know that the Premier wants to get it resolved and we hope that Transport for NSW can get
01:35out of the way, the bureaucrats can get out of the way and assist in this.
01:40If the government and unions can't reach a resolution by Sunday evening, commuters may
01:46face disruptions from Monday.
