00:00Former Prime Minister Najib Razak has claimed that the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

00:06promised him financial support for the 2013 general election.

00:09At his 1MDB trial today, Najib said King Abdullah expressed his intention to support his return

00:14for another term in office when they met in 2010.

00:18However, he said he was not told the value of the donation he would be receiving.

00:22Najib said he received remittances through the Riyadh Bank in Saudi Arabia and letters

00:27confirming the donation through King Abdullah's royal representatives.

00:31He said businessman Lothik Jo or Jo Low later told him he would be receiving around $1 billion.

00:37Najib also said his late Principal Private Secretary, Azlin Alias, told him that AmBank

00:42Managing Director Chia Teh Kuang would handle the process of opening an account.

00:47He said Bank Negara Malaysia and AmBank had never flagged the donation remittances as

00:51being a suspicious transaction.
