NSW Police launch investigation after bodies of man and woman found at shop in Cambridge Park

The bodies of a man and woman believed to be in their 60s were discovered at a shop at Cambridge Park. The pair were discovered by a family member, who is understood to have contacted police. Police said they were aware of social media footage possibly relating to the incident and were investigating.

00:00Inside this suburban takeaway shop, a much-loved couple was found dead.

00:07It's just heartbreaking. I'm devastated.

00:10A family member called emergency crews to the Buzzy Bees Burger Shop

00:14on Oxford Street in Cambridge Park around 9.40 this morning,

00:18reporting there had been an assault.

00:21I was here this morning and saw, you know, the police come

00:25and the ambulance come and very nice people.

00:29Police say the man and woman, aged in their 60s, suffered significant injuries.

00:34It's a confronting scene and obviously the welfare of our officers

00:38has been addressed and we have systems in place for that.

00:41Distraught relatives attended the scene today.

00:44The family are obviously devastated and they are assisting police.

00:47It's believed the couple had owned and operated the takeaway shop

00:50for more than two decades and were well-known in the community.

00:54Locals have been coming by here throughout the day to pay their respects.

00:58Lovely people. Every time we've come in to buy food and stuff,

01:02they always greet you well and just really good people.

01:05She made me breakfast yesterday morning, yeah.

01:07Lovely couple, so it's really sad.

01:09A passer-by captured footage of a man on the roof of the shops

01:13near the crime scene, but police are yet to confirm if it's related.

01:17I'm aware that there is footage around and it's been through social media

01:20and we're looking into that.

01:21Police are yet to make any arrests, but say they don't believe

01:24there is any ongoing threat to the public.
